After learning of the incident with a nail going through a plumbing line, and causing a leak, I spoke to the home owner and requested he send us the documents from the plumber for the cost of the repairs For whatever reason, we did not receive the invoices, until recently when he resent them to us.To address the issues with taking a while to schedule the collateral work:We recently had to let go the scheduling coordinator, and bring someone else in There were some jobs that slipped through the cracks in that process We own the mistake and have corrected most of them now We have also implemented new strategies and procedures to make sure none of our 1,000's of customers have this issue again. The plumbing pipe issue ::::; It is not Dwelling Doctors or any other roofers responsibility to cover plumbing or ac line, or electrical issues under neath the visible areas of the home In example: plumbing that was ran too close to the roof Our nails only penetrate the deck of the roof by 1/" inch or so Building code specifically says that all electrical, plumbing, heat and ac lines are not to be within to " of the bottom of the roof deck Therefore, most of the time making it impossible to penetrate any type of service line In this instance the plumbing line was tucked up in an area that would not have been visible with a attic inspection If anyone goes and looks in their attic they will not be able to see all areas clearly Regardless of building code, or who's fault this might be Dwelling Doctors decided to make things right We did not receive the document from the home owner about the repair cost Once being aware of this, we have worked out arrangements to pay for the plumbing repair, as well as an additional for the water removal cleaning service We are currently in progress of repairing the rest of the interior in the home as well Home owner is satisfied with our resolution In short, we could have refused to fix the plumbing issue, and could have gone to court, and most likely would have won However, it is far more worth it to us to have a happy customer, and resolve issues, than to be right

The owner of the business was out of town which delayed the refund by one week and for that we are truly sorry When it was brought to our attention of the oversight we immediately issued the refund check and it has now cleared the bank and the customer was fully refunded his deposit

After learning of the incident with a nail going through a plumbing line, and causing a leak, I spoke to the home owner and requested he send us the documents from the plumber for the cost of the repairs.  For whatever reason, we did not receive the invoices, until recently when he resent them...

to us.To address the issues with taking a while to schedule the collateral work:We recently had to let go the scheduling coordinator, and bring someone else in.  There were some jobs that slipped through the cracks in that process.  We own the mistake and have corrected most of them now.   We have also implemented new strategies and procedures to make sure none of our 1,000's of customers have this issue again. The plumbing pipe issue ::::;   It is not Dwelling Doctors or any other roofers responsibility to cover plumbing or ac line, or electrical issues under neath the visible areas of the home.  In example: plumbing that was ran too close to the roof.  Our nails only penetrate the deck of the roof by 1/4 " inch or so.  Building code specifically says that all electrical, plumbing, heat and ac lines are not to  be within 6 to 12 " of the bottom of the roof deck.   Therefore, most of the time making it impossible to penetrate any type of service line.          In this instance the   plumbing line was tucked up in an area that would not have been visible with a attic inspection.   If anyone goes and looks in their attic they will not be able to see all areas clearly.     Regardless of building code, or who's fault this might be.   Dwelling Doctors decided to make things right.  We did not receive the document from the home owner about the repair cost.      Once being aware of this, we have worked out arrangements to pay for the plumbing repair, as well as an additional 1800 for the water removal cleaning service.   We are currently in progress of repairing the rest of the interior in the home as well.    Home owner is satisfied with our resolution.  In short, we could have refused to fix the plumbing issue, and could have gone to court, and most likely would have won.   However, it is far more worth it to us to have a happy customer, and resolve issues, than to be right.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:         In May, I contracted Dwelling Doctors redo my roof after a series of storms in the months prior. When I signed the first contract it was May 28th and this contract allowed 45 days to complete the job. The adjuster [redacted] came and assessed the wind and hail damage. They were going to need to fix the roof, the garage, some flooring, and clean and seal the ceilings. They placed a blue tarp over the leaking areas and left. Another contractor returned a second time because they stated they needed to change the current contract amount. They stated the roof was not $30,000 worth of damage. At that point they wrote up a new contract with a new current contract amount and I was never provided a copy of the second contract. Could you try and obtain this copy? Insurance issued the first check #[redacted] in the amount of $3736.73 on 6/8/2016. I signed this check over to them as soon as I received it so that they could begin working on my roof. The check shows it was cashed as of 6/15/16. Insurance issued a second check dated 7/22/16 check #[redacted] in the amount of $3453.00 and was given to them but, I did not sign it. The check was forged and cashed by Dwelling Doctors. I made several attempts to contact them on when they were going to begin work on my roof and they still had not started. They kept putting it off. Finally, at the end of September I talked to [redacted] and requested a full refund. He agreed to refund me my full amount of $7189.73. On 10/4/16 I received a check for the amount of 5218.74 which was $1970.69 less then what I paid them. I contacted [redacted] again inquiring on the amount of the refund and he stated he had to pay one of his salesmen. I believe they should have refunded me my whole amount due to the fact that they were well past the 45 days of the contract and they never began any work to the house. -Attached  -copy of insurance adjuster estimate -first contact -first check from the insurance company that I signed-second check from the insurance company that was forged -the refund check from Dwelling Doctors Regards,
[redacted]  [redacted]

The owner of the business was out of town which delayed the refund by one week and for that we are truly sorry.  When it was brought to our attention of the oversight we immediately issued the refund check and it has now cleared the bank and the customer was fully refunded his deposit..

[redacted] signed a contract and we filed a supplement to her insurance company to get more money because they did not pay enough to get her roof replaced.  WE obtained an additional supplement of $ 3453.00 which we received in addition to her original ACV check in the amount of 3736.73....

In the mean time the salesman on the deal told Mary that he was unhappy with us and he was going into business himself and had hired one of our roofing crews to complete the roof.  We had already paid the salesman a commission draw of $ 958.09.  We refunded her money less the commission that we paid to the salesman and told her she could reduce the amount she paid to him since he had already been paid.  In addition we charged her our cost to file the supplement since we hire an independent adjuster who charges a percentage of what he can collect from the insurance company on the supplement.   Without the supplement there was not enough money in the deal to replace her roof.  Normally when a customer wants to cancel the contract after we have done work we charge a percentage of the contract amount.  The amount we charged her due to our direct cost was less than the liquidating damages specified in our contract.  Ms. [redacted] can get her roof replaced with the money she received from us if she uses the former salesman which is the reason she gave for wanting to cancel the contract.
