We were sent as an Agent of [redacted] for a second opinionThere are two furnaces that have cracked heat exchangers in this home The homeowner is in no way, forced to use our company as [redacted] will give him a buy out dollar amount that he can use with any contractorIt is our opinion, backed by [redacted] 's guidelines on proper venting of furnaces, that the existing installation is not safe and we will not reinstall any 80% furnaces in that situationThe furnaces are too far from the chimney( 15' to 17') and the chimney is not very tall, which means on very cold days, especially with only one furnace running, it will be hard to establish a proper draft which will cause vent safety switches to tripThe fact that the furnaces that are in the home have run for many years does not make the original installation correct. If [redacted] and [redacted] are willing to take on the liability that's fine, we however, will not put the family at riskThe price that we gave is a quote to install two 90% efficient furnaces which vent out using PVC pipe and do not us the chimney at allAs a quote, the customer has the option to accept it or decline it and go with the company of their choiceThere is no bait and switch going on here at all, nor are we trying to take advantage of anyoneWe have installed many 80% efficient furnaces that have been supplied by HWAThis is actually the first time that we have not been able to install the equipment that [redacted] would have suppliedI have sorry for the obvious problems the homeowner feels this has caused, but I feel we have chosen the safest and correct course of action

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Firstly they were not the company sent as a second opinion from the warranty company, they were the first provider After I had the two other HVAC service companies inspect my systems the home warranty company sent out another provider for a second opinionWhile waiting for the second opinion from the warranty company I had two more companies come out to inspect the systemsBoth of the companies found the same results as the two mentioned in the initial complaint (companies now say what dykstra suggest was "ridiculous", "unnecessary" and/or "a scam".) The second opinion from the warranty company then came to inspect the system and also agreed with the other companiesAt this point I have had the second company sent from the warranty company do the work, covered by the warrantyI just want to make sure other consumers in the marketplace know that this company is only out to swindle would be customers out of hard earned money when they smell desperation in the air Sincerely, [redacted]

I am truly sorry that you have chosen to go down this path, especially after your wife called and apologized for your actions. If this has to go to court then so be itThat is exactly why I would not issue you a credit before we received creditYou are not trustworthyWe Will get a dime out of you as well as all of the costs associated with collectionYou signed the ticket as accepting all charges as being satisfactory and that is confirmed by you paying the bill

I am sorry for the problem that you have experienced with this repairEven tough it is out of the warranty period , and should be chargeable,we will send a truck to do the repair once again, at no charge However with the extreme heat we are in I will not be able to send a truck for at least three weeks as we are totally booked solidI have copied my installation manager on this reply and he will reach out to you to schedule an appointment.Again, sorry for this inconvenience

I am truly sorry for this problem, and we will do everything we can to correct the issue We are not a [redacted] dealer and all we can do is check to see if it's in warranty and we were told the coil was not registered and would not be in warrantyKim told this customer to go back to the original installer as it should be in warranty, they did not want to do that and gave us the ok to install the coilAfter the install was completed the [redacted] contacted our office to say that [redacted] told them the coil was in warrantyWe are more than willing to try and process the coil through [redacted] as long as the [redacted] will deliver to our shop, it would help if they could give us the name or contact from [redacted] that told them it was in warrantyThis will avoid any additional handling chargesIf we receive credit or a replacement coil from [redacted] we will certainly refund them the cost the evaporator coilOur address is [redacted] *** Upon delivery to our shop we will give them a receipt for their coil and try to process the warranty through a [redacted] distributor

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because your ticket is wrong. there is no itemization in it what so everyou did not itemize the hourly labor or the cost of the coil. the receipt says the whole coil is . you failed to do your part. you messed the warranty up, and you would not process it afterwards. I am taking this up with my bank now, not lawyers.
Sincerely,
Johnny ***

I am sorry that the *** had a problem with a water leak from the torrential rains that we had the other nightEvidently with the gale force winds the rain was blown into the cap on the roof and leaked down the chimney into the basementThis happened to several other customers as
well.We replaced the furnace in the BASEMENT, and we replaced the flue pipe from the furnace and water heater and tied it into the existing B-Vent chimney that runs up through the roofEven though the flashing on the roof is very rusted there are no holes, as noted on the ticketThere is nothing we could have done to cause or prevent the water from coming in as all of our work was in the basement. Even if we replaced the entire chimney from the basement up through the roof, which would be a chargeable event, there is no guarantee that this could not happen againI will waive the $charge this time, but just to be clear the warranty is on the furnace only not the flue or the chimney

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.Though I'm satisfied with the waiver of the fee , I'd still like to stress that this was not the first torrential rain we've had and as I previously stated , there has NEVER been any leakageThank you Revdex.com for yours assistance
Sincerely,
*** ***

I am sorry that the explanation was rejected Everything we based our decision to quote 90% furnaces, was based on fact and concern for safetyOn the recommendation from our distributor we would not, in good conscience, install an 80% furnace with a chance of improper venting on extremely cold days
Again, the homeowner was not locked into our company, we quoted what we felt was the best and certainly a much higher efficiency option for his homeThere was no bait and switch involved here at allWe stand by our decision

I am truly sorry that you have chosen to go down this path, especially after your wife called and apologized for your actions. If this has to go to court then so be it. I am truly sorry for this problem, and we will do everything we can to correct the issue.  We are not a [redacted] dealer and all we can do is check to see if it's in warranty and we were told the coil was not registered and would not be in warranty. Kim told this customer to go back to the original...

installer as it should be in warranty, they did not want to do that and gave us the ok to install the coil. After the install was completed the [redacted] contacted our office to say that [redacted] told them the coil was in warranty. We are more than willing to try and process the coil through  [redacted] as long as the [redacted] will deliver to our shop, it would help if they could give us the name or contact from [redacted] that told them it was in warranty. This will avoid any additional handling charges. If we receive credit or a replacement coil from [redacted] we will certainly refund them the cost the evaporator coil. Our address is [redacted] [redacted] [redacted] Upon delivery to our shop we will give them a receipt for their coil and try to process the warranty through a [redacted] distributor.

The customer has a contract with a home warranty company....

That area is not our service area any longer for the Home Warranty Company they use, so it is "out of territory".  They have a warranty on the part, but they went through their home warranty company for a claim.  We could possible go, but the diagnostic charge would apply.  If the pump we installed was the problem, then the part is under warranty but the labor is not.  I can see what their home warranty company wants to do but we are not their provider for that area any longer.
