Patient *** *** was seen at our office 9/19/At the beginning of the exam the contact lens fee was discussed and the patient decided to forgo the contract lens portion of the exam due to costWhen in the exam room the patient discussed the contact lenses with the doctor and decided to
have the fit anywayThe patient was then told he owed the fee for the contact lens portion of the examHe refused payment but was still given the contact lens prescriptionOur office sent out one initial bill to the patient, again requesting payment for the contact lens portion of the exam, which as previously discussed was not covered by his insuranceThe patient called our office on 9/22/disputing the bill, and we explained the fee to him but waived any further attempts to collect his billWe have not had any contact with the patient since, however the patient was given a valid contact lens prescription at the time of his exam which at no point was invalidatedWe retain a copy of this prescription on file at our office as well, and had we been contacted to obtain an additional copy we would have released it to the patient or his rep in ordering contacts in compliance with HIPPA
