I parked my 2016 Honda Pilot in guest parking at the Portofino Apartment Homes, 2500 Northside Drive, San Diego, CA 92108 the evening of 29 August 2016. The next morning around 9:00 am I went out to my vehicle and noticed small specks all over the exterior of the Pilot. There were painters working on the buildings in the immediate area where I had parked. I went to the front office to make notification of what had happen to my vehicle. The individual I spoke with (I do not have a name) was a male with dark hair and a close trimmed beard. He came out and inspected my vehicle and took at least one picture of the specks. He stated that the painters (Dynamix Painting) was good to work with in situations like this.
We were not provided any notification that painters would be working in that immediate area that evening, nor was any attempt made to cover our vehicle.
We returned to Tucson and brought the Pilot into Quebedeaux Collison Center to examine the damage and to provide an estimate. The estimate ($600) was mailed to Portofino Apartments. The buffing out completed a couple days later and the final bill ($300) was sent to Portofino Apartments as well. We received a message that we needed to call Desiree at Portofino regarding the estimate and bill, which we called and left a message. We had to travel out of town for three weeks. When we returned we did not have any messages or mail from Portofino. We called Desiree and she stated that the foreman (Jose Valdez) had the correspondence and needed to speak with me. I called and left a message which was not returned. I called a second time and left a message as well. He called shortly and explained that he would not do anything unless he saw the vehicle. The vehicle was in Tucson nearly 450 miles away and already buffed out (which he knew as the final bill had been sent to Portofino). He also said that his painters always cover vehicles that are in the immediate area. Which in my case, the vehicle was not covered.
I placed another call to Desiree at Portofino on 14 October, which has not been returned either.
