Ernesto Casillas of EC Builders and Design was highest bidder interviewed for a home deck & stairs remodel. However, he was ready to start immediately in May 2015. Noted but ignored contractor's prior company liquidation bankruptcy. Our stated goal was completion in 4-6 weeks. Project cost $35K+ in fees & materials. Demolition began quickly but rebuilding work was sporadic, sometimes stopping entirely for months, and project finally completed after 12 months. Contractor agreed to accept credit card payments but wanted to add 3% fee to bill - told them this was called, 'surcharging' and was illegal in California. Paid by check to avoid extra fee. Decking and metal railing material orders lists, generated by contractor and paid by property owner, greatly exceeded needs. Deck is sturdy but quality of workmanship is mediocre with greater need for supervision and attention to detail.
