Case # 1zH002938. I rented a chain saw on Sunday; 11/12/12 @ approximately 12:30 pm from EZ RENT ALL. The owner, [redacted]; @ the end of the transaction he gave me his business & pointed-out his cell number on the card & suggested I give him a call if I have any problems with the saw. I called him @ approximately 6:30 pm, the saw wouldnt start, he walked me through the process; he suggested I wait 20 minutes & try it again, still didnt start. I tried several times up until about 8:30 pm. I called [redacted] again @ 11:11 am. Monday morning, I explained the saw was not starting after following his directions as well as the on-line instructions. He said he thinks the spark plug was fouled. He said he would bring a spark plug & install it in one hour, which should take care of the problem. Also, the rental would start from the time he repaired it, to compensate for the problem with the saw. Two hours passed, he did not show-up nor did he call. I called his shop several times, each time I called the guy that answered the phone said [redacted] was on his way, he finally showed-up @ approximately 3:00pm. He replaced the spark plug & started the saw. I let him know, I was not happy with how this process played-out, I let him know he kept me waiting without even the courtesy of a phone call & laid waste to my day. I have over 80 lodge poll logs to cut; each log average 15-20 feet in length, an all day job that I had to try and get done in maybe 3 hours.He explained he had lots of problems & did not have access to a phone; while he was replacing the spark plug, the guy that was with him was on a cell phone. During our verbal exchange [redacted] accused me of cursing-out his employee, which he informed was his brother. I informed him that I do not under any circumstance use profanity in my communications; I have not since 1999. I told him his brother had lied to him. The truth is, it was his brother that was using profanity @ the end of my second to last phone call with him; He thought I had hung-up the phone & he spewed a litany of caustic invectives. I called back to let him know he should probably make sure the phone is hung-up before he starts with such language, he apologized & told me he had lots of unhappy people complaining & he wasnt getting the necessary help from [redacted].After expressing my dismay to [redacted], he became agitated because my voice had elevated due to my frustration with him & the situation, I told him he was unprofessional, he told me he should have charged me for coming out to fix the chain saw &I should be nicer, he attempted take the saw, I told him I paid to rent it & I was going to use it, he told me to give it to him, I refused, he grabbed it & said, Ill knock you out old man @ that point the guy that was with him said the same thing, they threatened me, I feared for my safety & I was extremely humiliated. I felt my only recourse was to call 911. I filed a police report.Desired Settlement: A written apology, along with a complete refund of the rental fee as well as reimbursement for the gas I paid for to fill the chain saw reservoir. I would like to see him arrested for harassment.
