Thank you for sending this complaint to our attention In my investigation of this matter, I discovered that there was as copy of a Virginia law which was left in an envelope regarding pawned or conveyed rental property This is what Mr*** is referring to in his complaint
when he said there was a “document with the Seal of Virginia” on it I attach copy to this response Although I do not believe that there is anything illegal in do so, this practice was not an approved collection practice by our company, and the employee who did so has been counseled and reprimanded regarding this conduct.Since the filing of this complaint with your office, I have been informed that Mr*** has spoken directly with our District Manager about this matter, and that they appear to have come to a resolution agreed to by both Mr*** and our District Manager Given that, I do not think that there is anything further to investigate at this point.If I am mistaken, please let me know Again, I appreciate your office bringing this complaint to our attention so that we had the opportunity to address it.*** ** ***, General CounselE-Z Rentals, A+ Rentals & iRent** *** *** ** *** ***

Review: On March 22, at 6pm I contacted [redacted] VIA text message because this is how he contacted me to let him know it would be after the first of the month before I can make my payment. He stated that because I had been such a good customer that would be no problem. I come home to find on my door a document with the seal of Virignia on it stated I would be sued because I wasn't releasing the property nor making the payment, however, I never stated I would not return the property NOR make the payment, as a matter of fact I made payment agreements with him. After getting home and seeing this I texted him and told him to come get the property as I did not want any legal action against me. He then calls to tell me this document is "fake" and isn't real that it was only to "scare" me. Now mind you I haven't been this later EVER with them, NOR have a rejected them coming to get the property. I told him I wanted his district manager to contact me as it doesn't seem this could even be real. I also contacted the district attorneys office who told me they SHOULD NOT be using the seal of Virginia without the approval of the governor.Desired Settlement: I believe due to the fact that I did try to contact the company and explain what was going on and even after that they told me they were trying to "scare" me with "fake" documents that I should be refunded or at least compensated in some way because it shouldn't be legal for a company to "scare" someone with "fake" legal documents. I had never been this late and I already contacted them about what was going on. There should have been no need to "scare" me. Even more so when I asked to be contacted by the distract manager I was told one would contact me when possible. This is TERRIBLE business practice and I even told him I find it hard to believe their corporate office would be okay with this. At the least I should be allowed to return the product and no longer do business with a shady company because of their unethical actions.
