Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: first of all panda express food bag you must have me mistaken for another one of your victimsI have no idea what your talking about secondly I was not irate upset absolutely and if you have survellance at your business play the footage and you will clearly see that I was upset but reasonably polite considering the circumstances and as for newport security the person who was on duty that day put in his report that I was in the parking lot at 1:p.mwhich I stated earlier is a LIEI believe that the person working for newport security and the person from EZ towing were working together and had my car illegally towed to make a cash profit Regards, [redacted]

There are plenty of signs stating "parking for residents only with parking permits only"We are called to tow cars that are parked there that should not be thereIf they are residents of the property then they would know they have to register their car with the office personnel of the property to
get a permit!!

Response:First lets start off by stating what we do is not ILLEGALAs to this claim, Newport Security called us to have this vehicle towed because she left the vehicle on their property and went to another placeWhen she called us, she argued that she never left the property, but when she came to
pick up her vehicle she had a Panda Express food bag with herWhen we asked her about that she became more irate, so it was better that we try not to explain again to herWhen her vehicle was parked there are no food stores on that property!!!!

The car was parked behind the department store [redacted], yes there was a sign, 3ft by 3ft.  He parked in a loading dock for trucks.  We have a contract with the [redacted] to tow illegally parked cars and yessecurity called us to have his car towed.  When [redacted] called EZ Towing he was...

told the office was closed but we would have someone meet him there to release his car.  We told him to call us when he gotthere so someone could meet him there. He was also told over the phone how much it would cost to release the vehicle. When the E Z Towing driver arrived at the shop, in between jobs only to release [redacted]’scar, all [redacted] did was ask for a discount.  My driver kept telling him no and if he gets a call for a tow he has to leave.  After about 30 thirty times of him asking for a discount a call came in for a tow and all of a sudden[redacted] wanted to pay.  My driver told him he had to wait until he came back from the tow.  He got upset because he had to wait again and could not get a discount and that is where all the lies came from.  There isno truth in anything he said..Thank you,Gary

I have no idea what your talking about secondly  I was not irate upset absolutely and if you have survellance at your  business play the footage and you will clearly see that I was upset but reasonably polite considering the circumstances and as for newport security the person who was on duty that day put in his report that I was in the  parking lot at 1:40 p.m. which I stated earlier is a LIE. I am rejecting this response because:  Thanks for following up on the case and reaching out to the agency on my behalf. Below are a few things I have to state in this regard – 1.       We did not find any no-parking signage around the wall where our vehicle was parked (pictures of the area attached in mail sent to DCA on the same subject)2.       No boards/signage indicates that it is truck loading/unloading dock3.       Also, if it is truck loading/unloading dock, how are [redacted] staff vehicles allowed to park in the same area, why does it not clearly state that area reserved for staff parking ? Are we saying the contract mentions that staff vehicles should not be towed ? If yes, how do people like us get informed that it is a parking zone for staff vehicles only4.       Discount matter addressed in mail sent to DCA , please refer the same – again 30 times referenced in EZ Towing response is a mere exaggeration.5.       Yes, after all the harassment and with Police help, car was released on Sunday after charging towing charges and charge for keeping the car in their premises on Sunday even though car was released on Sunday night. If my understanding is correct, additional per day charges($60) apply if car is left overnight and would have been legitimate if car was released on Monday , so actually only one time discussion on discount was to factor this value being charged. We paid towing charges =$200 and $60 daily charge + taxes.6.        We asked to pay by card and were told only cash will be accepted and the matter  got worse when we said we will pay by cash if a receipt is issued (details already provided in first letter), police specifically asked EZ towing personnel to accept credit card and that was the trigger to allow us to make non-cash payment.7.       I got a call from EZ towing owner who again misbehaved with me on phone , details of conversation are mentioned in the email sent to DCA. Hope all this information is useful in making your investigations and assessment. Regards[redacted]

Review: My car was parked on Duncan Ave in Jersey City, where there was not even a SINGLE SIGN INDICATING NO PARKING. Within 20 minutes my car had been towed, indicating that this is some sort of scam where the company waits for any 'bait' and tows immediately. How can it be a towing section if there is no sign WHATSOEVER. This is a SCAM. And you can't get your car out unless you pay$264!!Desired Settlement: charge needs to be dropped

Review: On 11-3-14 my car was towed for being within 10 ft of a fire hydrant by EZ Towing per the Jersey City Parking Authority. When I arrived to pick up my car it was delivered to me with the door practically hanging off. I was advised by an employee that I needed to wait until the next business day TODAY (11-4-14) to speak with a supervisor concerning the damage and repairs. The employee left me standing in the tow yard with a man who introduced himself as a former employee and 2 non employees. Out of concern the former employee called the supervisor [redacted] to advise that my car appeared to be damaged resulting from the tow because it was not able to be driven off the premises since the door could not be closed. It was brought to my attention that my car was broken into (which is normal business practice) to ensure the emergency brake was not engaged. The supervisor advised that my car would be repaired and I was advised to leave my car and keys so the repairs could be done. When I contacted EZ Towing at noon today [redacted] advised me that my car would not be repaired because he did not believe they caused the damages.Desired Settlement: I would like for my car to be repaired as promised.

Review: on 8/8/15 my car was towed illegally by EZ towing the driver of ez towing who name is [redacted] said that my car was parked illegally and that I left the premisses for over an hour and that was the reason he towed me he said my car was spotted in the modells parking at newport at 1:40 p.m and was towed at 2:40 p.m. which is a LIE I have surveillance/footage of my car at another location across town at 1:40 and I also have the store manager at Modell as a witness who can verify that I was inside Modell shopping after 2 p.m. this company has predatory workersDesired Settlement: This is an on going matter what I would like for this company to do is own up and STOP its illegal activities and do the right thing

Review: My car was towed from a parking lot located in [redacted] that I was paid to park in. I have a valid parking permit that allows me to park in the lot, and was paid from June 1, 2014 through August 1, 2014. On the morning of June 20th, I came outside to find that my car was towed . I did not feel comfortable even going to the towing company to get my car because I have been there before to bring a friend, and several men came out, were yelling at us, and even brought out a dog which resembled a pit bull out, which was very scary. Once I got there, they informed me it would be $334.20 in order to get my car back. At this point, I had already talked to the owner of the parking lot [redacted]), and when I was on the phone with the parking lot owner, I went to look in my car for my parking permit. I found the permit on the floor of my car and as I was sitting on the floor of my car crying, I was telling the man on the phone that I was holding the permit on my dash board now, and that I had it. As I was saying this, a large man from the towing company came up from behind me, started screaming that I was lying, and tried to shut my car practically on my arm. I had to call the police to come help me as I felt extremely unsafe there. The police advised me to pay the fee in order to get my car, and to try and take up the matter later. Being that I was fully paid and had every right to park where I was, and I always check to make sure my permit is visible, I believe that I was illegally towed by a predatory towing company.

The towing company has several signs posted that in order to pay with a credit card, you must present two forms of ID with your picture and address on it, or you have to pay cash, which I have heard from others who have gotten towed that since most nearly everyone does not carry two ID's with those criteria, they were forced to find an ATM machine to get cash. However, when police are present, they do not seem to implement this policy, or even mention it.Desired Settlement: I want to be refunded $334.20 (the cost to get my car back)

Review: My vehicle was towed on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from a private parking lot on [redacted] in Jersey City, NJ. EZ Towing was not authorized to tow cars from this lot they are in violation of the Predatory Towing Prevention Act NJSA 56:13-7. Since my vehicle is a 4 wheel drive, I learned it is necessary to get into the vehicle in order to move the vehicle during a tow. I believe the person who towed my car used a crow bar to enter my vehicle via the front passenger door in order to tow it away. As a result of the tow, I notice there are scratches on the door and the door does not close to an effaced position with the back right passenger door. I have tried to contact the owner of the company. After repeatedly trying to contact the business owner to resolve the matter. I was told his name could not be given me and that he would not speak to me. The only way he would contact me is if I leave my phone number and he would call me back. In my opinion, that is not good business. I filed a police report with the Jersey City Police Department to report the damages to the vehicle. After filing the police report I filed a credit dispute with my credit card company and they were not successful in reaching the merchant. I called the EZ Towing once again and I spoke to someone named [redacted] (who claimed to be the owner) on December 8, 2014 and I ex**ained the situation to him and he said there was nothing he could do to process a refund because it happened in October. Although I have made attempts after the incident to contact a manager/owner at EZ Towing it was not until December 8, 2014 after contact from my credit card company that I actually got to speak to someone of authority at EZ Towing.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund, so I can pay for the damages they caused to my vehicle.

Review: My car was towed from the lot in [redacted] on [redacted]. When I arrived on Thursday night, nobody was there to collect my money and no phone number was left to contact. I park there all the time. I left a note and money in my windshield and stated I would be leaving at 6:00am, at which time I will pay. I also left my name and phone number in case there were any problems. My car was towed that morning, I called EZ Towing to find out what happened. They were very rude on the phone. When I arrived, they demanded I show two PHOTO forms of ID or else pay cash. I have my license and about ten other forms of ID, none with a photo. My mother sent me a picture of my passport which they did not accept. I asked if they could please accept my credit or debit card as I did not have $350 on me, and I at this point was late for work as was my sister who drove me there. They were EXTREMELY rude, said no, and told me to go find an ATM in the streets of Jersey City, an area I am not familiar with. I ran about a mile before finding a cop who directed me to one, took out $400 cash and ran back. The man there (Caucasian man, maybe 50-60), was SCREAMING at me in my face and cursing. He also brought out his unleashed, threatening dog, after we were arguing, I presume as a scare tactic. He threatened to not release my car until 8:00am, even after I had gotten cash out. I have never dealt with more disrespectful humans in my entire life. I am a 25 year old girl, trying to get to work, stuck in Jersey City, and this man is screaming and cursing in my face. Felt extremely threatened and violated. It is absurd they forced me to pay cash as well.

When I finally got my car, there was an iced tea that had been in my cup holder, spilled ALL over my seats and carpet. Everything was sticky and stained, which they also did not care about.

I was appalled by this experience.Desired Settlement: I would ask for a full refund as this was a disgusting display of professionalism, and it is not right to demand a cash payment.

Review: My vehicle was towed by this company after being parked illegally. I was then charged two days storage despite picking up the vehicle the same day. When I asked why I was being charged the fee for two days the employee responded "we are closed for the day, you can either pay it or come back tomorrow". The total charge for the tow was excessive. It totaled $214. In addition to this there were no hours of operation posted on the premises.Desired Settlement: I won't be satisfied with the return of one of the two storage fees I was charged. $30
