Review: Poor customer service I was told you bought it, it's your problem. Bought their vehicle (plus) best warranty but was told $50 deposit, that is for every part it needs - it adds up - so I took it where they said (Tire Shop). It has been in shop every month for something. Truck is in Hickory, NC, now won't start. Today make 7 days.

(2003 GMC is called a lemon)Desired Settlement: $5,000 out of pocket - take truck off my credit and they can have the truck back (trade in 3 payments, ins. co. - pay - roll back fee)

Response:

This customer bought a used 2003 GMC Sierra with 144,995 miles on June 9, 2014. At the time of sale, every vehicle comes with a 1,000 mile power train warranty provided complementary by E-Z Way Auto Sales (herein “E-Z Way”) which only covers the engine, transmission, and drive axels (all internal lubricated parts). The customer at the time of purchase assumes all other responsibility of the vehicles up keep and maintenance; however, there was an additional extended service contract with a $50.00 deductible available that the customer did purchase.

The customer did contact E-Z Way on July 2, 2014, within the first 30 days. The customer was advised to take the vehicle to [redacted] in Asheville. E-Z Way paid for [redacted] to clean and adjust front brakes, replace rear brakes and rotors, and replace one door lock activator for a total of $663.00. The brakes and rotors were not covered under the 30 day warranty or the extended service contract. The door lock activator was covered under the service contract and E-Z Way covered the service contract deductible for the customer.

On or around September 15, 2014, the customer had an issue with the ignition which is not covered under any warranty and the customer was responsible for all repairs. When the tow truck brought the vehicle to [redacted] in Asheville for repair, the steering column was already torn apart from where the customer tried fixing it himself. [redacted] fixed the tumbler in the ignition and the customer drove the vehicle for a week or so before he contacted us because the vehicle was not starting.

Up until this point both repairs had been made at [redacted] in Asheville. E-Z Way sent their truck, at no cost to the customer, to Asheville from Hickory to pick up the customer’s vehicle and brought it to [redacted] in Hickory.

[redacted] in Hickory advised E-Z Way that the vehicle needed a body control module and a reflash/reprogram. Again, the body control module and reprogram is not a covered item; however, E-Z Way did pay $75.00 for the labor on this repair out of good will and a courtesy tow. The customer was also provided a loaner car courtesy of E-Z Way.

The customer picked his vehicle up on or around the 3rd of October and we have not had any more complaints from the customer. E-Z Way has responded promptly every time the customer has had an issue and will continue to. We have paid for several things out of goodwill for the customer; however, he did buy a used vehicle and unfortunately all used vehicles do require maintenance that the customer is responsible for in the event it is not covered under the service contract.

Response:

Yes, you are correct. There will be a $50.00 deductible for every item covered under your service contract. This is a standard practice with all service contracts. Our records do not show that your vehicle has been in the shop every month since you bought it. Loaner vehicles are a courtesy provided by E-Z Way if a loaner vehicle is available since we only have a limited number of loaner vehicles available. We apologize for not having a loaner vehicle available the day you needed one.

Thank you,
