EA Homes, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: Don't even know where to start!

1. We built a house with EA Homes out of [redacted] in 2015. The completion date or closing date was 29 September 2015. Since the house was built, we have had tons of issues with the house to include the following.

Wrong size cabinet doors

Leak in detached garage due to improper sloping of concrete

Recessed lighting improperly installed

Crack in drywall in attached garage

Crack in stone on fireplace

Propane fireplace emits foul odor. It has nothing to do with propane gas, we had it checked, etc... The builder even came out and said something is not right.

Countertops are peeling up

Sink holes in the yard

The septic tank is approx 6 inches out of the ground. Concrete is clearly showing, etc...

Basement doors will not open and close properly.

And tons of other issues.

We have tried to contact the builder over and over again to fix these issues. We have even scheduled appointments with EA Homes and nobody has even shown up. Then we've tried to contact them again. They keep asking when we are available and our response every time is that anytime will work, just tell us when their workers will show up and we will make sure someone is home. Time and time again, nothing. My wife and I have exhausted all other attempts with them. Then, on March 29 2016 at approx 5:00 pm, we were called from a neighbor that our house was on fire. At the time, my wife and kids were is [redacted]. We drove back immediately to find that both of our HVAC Systems as well as the whole side of our brand new house damaged. We contacted the builder immediately because we called them about one of the HVAC systems making a knocking noise as well as leaning over. They said to contact the installer [redacted] of [redacted]. We contacted him a few days prior and he said he may or may not come out. Come to find out, he did show up on March 29 2016 at around 3:00pm which is right before the fire. The fire department showed up at 4:52pm. My mother, father, and sister were already on site taking pictures. When we finally arrived home, I was told by my sister and mother that the builder and HVAC ([redacted]) had tampered with the damaged units as well as laughing about the fire. We I asked them what do we do about this, Amy Argenbright (Co-Owner of EA Homes) said immediately in a condensending fashion, contact your insurance company! From March 29 2016 - 1 May 2016 my wife and family had to live in a hotel in order to fix damages occurred. According to the experts, fire marshal, fire investigator, fire department, and electrical engineers, this was an electrical fire. The insurance company is handling the investigation. Since then, we have contacted the builders again and again about all of the other punch list issues with the home. Currently, nothing has been done to resolve any of the issues with this home. We are tired of their lies as well as misrepresentation to stand behind their workmanship as many times that they have claimed. Also, on another note, I have also been in contact with another former home owner from EA Homes by the name of Mr. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] is a police officer locally and according to him, they did the exact same thing to him and never came back. This is our last resort in contacting Revdex.com before we continue with legal action.Desired Settlement: Either finish the job and finish it right or we will contact an other qualified reputable and desired home builder to finish the work and EA Homes will pay for all of the work performed. We have exhausted all trust and confidence in EA Homes to try and resolve these issues diplomatically and professionally. We would prefer to get a total quote from another builder of all things that need to be addressed and EA Homes will pay the total. My wife and I are afraid that if they do decide to come back and fix some of the things, it will not be fixed right. We ran into this problem when we had a leak in the house from the roof.

Response:

In addition a to the previous complaint and issues with the house, we have encountered a new serious problem that needs to be address as soon as possible by the builder(s) EA Homes (Eric and Amy Argenbright. During a storm on 6-24-2016 at 7:48pm, my wife and I witnessed a large of water coming in through the windows in the attached garage as well as behind the walls and under the garage door itself. There is large amount of water entering in this location. In additions to this situation, my wife and I decide to check the rest of the Windows throughout the house. My sons bedroom window is leaking, a window in the living room is leaking really bad, and the dining room window are leaking as well. We searched the rest of the house, we found that the main front door entrance is leaking extremely bad into the house. We noticed a large puddle of standing water on our hardwood floors. Again and again, I have texted the builder Eric Argenbright to address this issue as well as others in the past, and again and again, no response or no action whatsoever. This water problem is a serious issue and we may need to contact someone else to get this fixed in a timely manner since the builder will not do anything to make this right even though the house is under warrantee. If we do decide to have someone else fix these problems, we will have no other option than to take them to court on all of these issues to include the house fire. I am looking for guidance and direction from Revdex.com on what to do next? Thanks you,[redacted] and [redacted]
