Review: After speaking with the owner and reviewing their website many times for over two months,I purchased a goldendoodle puppy from Eaglecross.I paid 2000.00 for the puppy and had him flown from Ohio to NY. When the puppy arrived, I immediately noticed a foul smell coming from his ears, his skin was flaking and we was biting and scratching himself constantly. I called [redacted], owner from the airport and he said that the health report did say he had abnormal skin and coat as well as possible ear mites. I took him to the vet 3 days later. The vet performed a skin test on him that was positive for a scabies mite infection ( sascoptic mange) that caused an ear infection. He placed him on antibiotics, ear drops and 3 consecutive weeks worth of shots. My vet informed me that this puppy must have come from a " puppy mill" and had very poor hygiene. He gave me a unfit for sale form and I paid over 400.00 within the first 3 weeks for treatment. I emailed the owner of the Kennel immediately to inform him of this and ask for reimbursement of the vet bills which I thought was fair. After trying to contact him numerous times, I gave up. We love the puppy but feel that the 2000.00 cost should not have incurred such an outrageous vet bill.Desired Settlement: The cost of the vet bills of 400.00. I have meticulous records and bills from both the a kennel and vet. I have a copy of the kennels health report as well as the " unfit for sale" document from my vet.

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9377297, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

This is in regards to the response from Eaglecross Kennel. When I picked up the puppy from the airport and held him in my lap, his ears had such a foul smell and he gnawing at his skin. I called the breeder from the car to inform him that I received the puppy safely and to inquire about his skin and odor and he informed me of his vet's conclusion that he suffered from a " minor scaly skin and ear mite" problem. I thanked him, went home and bathed the puppy. The next day, I called my Vet for an appt and bought him in the following day. My vet examined him and said he had the worst case of mites he had ever seen which had led into what is called a "scabies infestation" also leading to an ear infection. He told me that in NY State this dog would be "unfit for sale" and gave me a letter stating the same. My Vet said the puppy had to have come from a "puppy mill "situation and that from a professional breeder, his hygeine was unacceptable. I had to bring the dog for weekly injections to kill the mites and antibiotics for the ear infection. I immediately called the breeder to explain the situation and left a message on his answering machine. I emailed him multiple times with no response. I can provide phone records if needed to prove he had never returned my calls or emails. I have not spoken to him once reagarding my complaint so it is completely false that he offered any medication. Further, it was necessary for the puppy to receive injections because pills wouldnt help it so unless the breeder thought I was going to inject my dog myself, that makes no sense. I have all the paperwok necessary and all of the bills from the vet. We spent 2000.00 on this puppy and feel that a 500.00 vet bill within first month following owning him is unacceptable. We absolutely love the dog and he is happy and healthy but feel like the breeder should have been professional enough to stand by his product and reimburse me the money I layed out at the vet. Thank you for your time, [redacted]

Our puppy was shipped to us. On the day he was shipped, [redacted] changed the account info that we needed to wire the money to after it was already sent. The whole thing was sketchy but I felt emotionally connected to the puppy we picked out on line. The pup arrived underweight with severe diarrhea that he would immediately eat. My vet treated him and the symptoms temporarily subsided. I called [redacted] on several occasions. He answered two of my calls. I begged and pleaded for insight to what was wrong with our dog and he acted surprised and quit answering calls and emails. To make a long story short, we have spent THOUSANDS of dollars in vet, specialists and emergency room bills. We finally have a diagnosis: severe reflux, moderate to severe lymphoplasmacytic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) small intestine, and severe lymphoplasmacytic IBD in his colon. This is a life long disease that is complicated to manage requiring chronic medications, expensive and limited foods, usually managed by an internal medicine veterinary specialist ($$$$). Buyer beware! This man does not care about the dogs he breeds. Nothing better than a puppy mill. The dog also has a lazy eye....the least of our concerns. He just turned 3 y.o. It's been a long, emotional road with no help or support from Eagle Cross Kennels.

I bought my puppy in December of 2014. He was 5 months old when I purchased him. I heavily researched breeders online before purchasing and on Eagle Cross Kennel's website, they look great. However, that is far from the reality. When we arrived the kennel was extremely dirty and had a horrible smell of urine and feces. The puppies were confined to small quarters that were full of wet newspaper and feces. G[redacted] brought out 2 puppies for us to see and they acted like they had never has human interaction before. We chose the older one that appeared to be in worse condition. We asked if we could see the parents but G[redacted] told us we put the adult dogs at risk of getting sick so we could not meet them but we could see them online. The mother was not on the website. G[redacted] told us over the phone that the puppies we were looking at were going to be $1000, but once we were paying him he quickly changed his mind and told us our puppy was $1200 because he "has a nice coat".

Because our puppy was extremely dirty, matted, and covered in urine and feces, we called groomers on the way home and luckily were able to get him in that afternoon. The groomer bathed him 3 times attempting to rid the horrible smell and had to shave him due to the condition of his coat. The groomer explained they do not like to shave dogs that young but she simply had no choice because his mats were so severe.

The following day we took our puppy to the vet. He was diagnosed with round worms and Giardia despite G[redacted] telling us the puppy was treated for worms one week prior. We also found out the puppy was missing many required vaccines for his age and the ones he did receive did not have the appropriate boosters given so our vet recommended essentially redoing all his vaccines. We contacted G[redacted] about the health issues the day we got the results but never received a response.

Our dog is now 1 year old and the results of testing all point to a liver disease (not yet confirmed). We contacted G[redacted] to see if we could get our $1200 refunded to cover the prescriptions that he will need the rest of his life. Instead, G[redacted] told me to "put the dog down" and he would replace him with a puppy of up to $2000 value. I told G[redacted] I was not interested in replacing my dog but he continually repeated I needed to put the dog to sleep because he was only going to get more genetic problems.

I would STRONGLY recommend not supporting this business. The puppies are not properly socialized or cared for. G[redacted] is much more interested in financial gain rather than the well being of his animals. If you want an ethical breeder, I would suggest you look elsewhere.

This kennel provided me with the perfect dog for my needs. I needed a puppy who would be trained as a service dog and [redacted] could not have found a better match. I would definitely recommend his business.

When I visited Eagle Cross Kennel and met with Mr. [redacted] I did so to pick up my new 8 week old Goldendoodle puppy. Mr. [redacted] was hesitant to show me the pups parents. When I saw the condition of the kennel I felt extremely disappointed, upset and angered by the horrible condition of the kennels. The small area containment where puppies (as well as adult dogs) were kept were filthy and dark. Puppies were taken from their mothers at 5 weeks old according to Mr. [redacted]. Since puppies are removed from their mothers so early they do not learn behaviors from their mothers they should. I do not believe the puppies are adequately cared for, (I believe the same is true of the adult dogs). When I got the puppy home she was passing large amounts of blood in her stool and vomiting several times a day. I took the puppy to my vet she had ear mites, parasites, an ear infection and additional medical problems. I think Mr. [redacted] is running a puppy mill and I doubt my puppy was the only sick dog "rescued" from [redacted]. Furthermore, I do not believe the advertisements about this kennel have any truth to them whatsoever.
