I purchased a lot of stamps from one of this dealer's online sales, hosted on StampAuctionNetwork This was my first purchase from the firm I received the lot quickly The stamps were all in individual glassine envelopes When removing the stamps I noticed about a fourth to a fifth of the stamps had sticky residue on the gum side that made them worthless This defect was not mentioned in the lot description When I contacted the firm and requested a partial refund, Ms Missy A [redacted] responded that I could return the entire lot for a full refund, but that the firm would not partially refund or provide a credit against a future purchase I did not want to return the entirety of the lot, because the majority of the stamps were satisfactory As I mentioned, a fourth to a fifth were damagedI would have appreciated partial compensation, and therefore I was disappointed that the firm was not more accommodating Because of the experience, I suggest collectors treat this firm with great caution

I contacted the firm for a possible sale of a collectionI catalogued and photographed the books and Apfelbaum then requested I send the batch to them for appraisalSo far so goodI received an offer a month later, after their appraisal, of $20!
There were approximately stamps, plate blocks, covers, etcThe US uncirculated stamps had a value for mailing purposes alone of $What possessed this firm to waste my time and theirs in a silly excecise they knew wasn't going to work out? Were they trying to get something for nothing?
