Customer's claim that disclaimer is not present in office is incorrect. There is a sign clearly stating that the company is not responsible for paint damage to trucks being loaded. Earth N Wood loads thousands of tons of gravel into pickup trucks each year. Some customers bring
blankets or tarps to protect their beds from potential damage caused by falling stones. Company staff is not capable of knowing whether a truck is a "work" truck or not

Earth N Wood has five sizes of container rentals all measured in cubic yards - 10,15,20,30,40.All containers are identified by a four digit number, the first two of which tell staff the size of the box. This customer was rented boxes that began with '15'. His most recent box was
'1504'.Containers may be of a different style and dimensions. Some have four square corners. Some have sloped sides. Some are slightly taller and shorter, etc.This customer received a different style than earlier boxes he had rented before - and made the assumption it was only a yard box. It was not. However, in order to facilitate a favorable outcome for this customer, we have provided him with a 10-yard box to complete his cleat no charge

I was in the office looking around for several minutes while the two gentleman in the office assisted other customers, if the sign had been "clearly posted", I would have noticed. Furthermore, when I made the phone call to complain, the man who answered the phone verbally agreed with my statement that there SHOULD be a sign posted in the office for customers to see, saying "yes, there probably should be"; implying that at the time I was there, there was NOT a sign posted. Although, of course, I'm sure there is now! Also, I agree that workers should not be held responsible for knowing what is a "work" truck and what's not, but I work in retail so I guess that's what frustrates me most about this whole situation. The man was polite and knowledgeable, but complete, good customer service includes being aware of your customer's needs and caring about your customers. I clearly had never been to this business before and obviously didn't completely understand the process. Had I known that others sometimes bring blankets to protect their vehicles from potential damage, I would have done just that! Regardless of what the customer is driving, why not suggest this to protect the person's property; that they've worked hard for, regardless of what the vehicle looks like. Just care. Or at least act like it. Furthermore, it is CLEARLY not a work truck! Who would willingly chose to do hundreds of dollars of damage to a vehicle over a twenty dollar load of gravel? I'm disappointed that there has never once been a "We're sorry that your vehicle was damaged" or an "I'm sorry that your visit to our business was a disappointing one". Only flat out denial of any responsibility.
