To whom this may concern at the Revdex.com,Regarding my dispute with Earthworks Development, we have been open and willing towork with [redacted] from the beginning. After our complaint he contacted us by text butrefused to return our phone calls. He doesn’t appear willing to talk with us or come outto look at the job himself. He said he would have his worker come out on Sundaybetween the hours of 9am and 7pm. When I asked for a more specific time he said“One thing about charity, it’s something that is not rt when we want it. If I see him beforeI leave for work I will tell him to call you half hour proir to his arrival”. Then I offered tocall the guy myself his reply was “He does not want my customers calling him anymore. It was difficult to get him to help at because he knows the full situation.” my reply was, “Iunderstand”. Then he went on and on... about things that had nothing to do with theproblem at hand. I have it all on my phone, because he will do nothing but text me. Thisconversation was on Saturday. At 8AM Sunday morning he texts me and tells me thatnow I can call the guy, but gives me the wrong number. I text him that the number isincorrect and he doesn’t get back to me until 8PM with the correct number. When Ifinally am able to reach the guy on Monday afternoon he acts as though he doesn’tknow what I am talking about at all. Then finally says he will have to call me backanother time since he doesn’t know what his schedule will be.It appears to me that [redacted] is not serious about resolving the matter, but wants to giveme the run around and threaten me because I have filed a complaint. All I really want ismy roof done correctly. We have been trying to get this resolved for at least 6 months. Ihave not hounded the guy just asked him to come out to have a look at it.I have also had another roofer out to give me an estimate on the repairs needed. WhichI will scan and attach as well. This includes the wind damage which [redacted] feels he is notresponsible for, but also the fact that starter shingles were not use at the edge of theroof, chimney was not flashed only roof cemented, and the plumbing vent stackflashings were not installed properly. Also the fact that the shingles have exposed nailswhich even someone without roofing experience knows that is not right.

[redacted] , I have an appointment to walk thru issues on there roof. As mentioned we will only cover what's on the contract and warranty signed.  If this is not acceptable then that is a personal issue the customer has , as a business we have to stick to our signed agreements. [redacted]

The business reached out to Revdex.com and stated he did go out to the customer's home to resolve this issue for her.

I contacted Earthworks Development Corporation in reference to replacing my roof. I met [redacted] the owner and I took him at his word about the job however, I did not get a written contract and some things that were stated were not done as originally discussed. My mistake, live and learn.
I was also told I would receive the warranty/guarantee information from this company when the job was completed. I have not received this information and not sure if I will ever get anything in writing from the company.
I am satisfied with the work done with replacing my roof by the crew of men who did the actual work but I am disappointed in how the owner of the business never contacted me during or after the job was completed for feedback to see if I was happy with the work being done and its' completeion. Sometimes it is just about the money and not customer satisfaction.
My suggestion for anyone using this company is to get a written contract for the quote and the work to be done. Then there can be no misunderstanding of the work to be done.

Earthworks DevelopmentWritten Contract dated 12/05/2015                Start date: 12/15/2015 completion date to be 12-23-2015As of 1/8/2016 was not completed)Job description on contract :  1.Replace vanity tops, sinks, and faucets, new traps, and drain fittings  2  . Remove shoe mold (had to be replaced for it was destroyed while removing  3. Install concrete board on floor  4. Install preferred tile  5. Install shoe mold  6. Set new toilet  7. Remove all trash (home owner was left with      trash removal.  8. Provide new stainless steel kitchen sink and sink trap and install Total labor $2600 charge, total materials charge $1500= $4100 written on contract Checks cashed by contractor to date $4000 with $60 paid in cash. The “senior discount” described is a sink given free with purchase of granite slab from Absolute Stone, Richmond, which I was told by contractor that the slab cost was $1200 for which contractor guaranteed would be no more than 1000. Actual work performed:1.       Removed 2 vanities (sinks and vanities all one piece)2.       Removed two mirrors which had to be raised after installing granite back splash.3.       Deliver and install 2 granite counter tops which one was measurement short by approximately ¼ inch from wall4.       Install plumbing and sinks (owner purchased sinks to be installed). New traps and drains were not installed by contractor leaving new sinks unusable.5.       Only trim removed was toe moldRemove toilet, replaced leaking flange and cleaned wax ring off (which was the cause of the leak which was the impetus to have the bath room updated, not to mention it would not be possible to lay new tile without removing the toilet. The toilet now has a crack in the upper part of the bowl.6.       Installed cement board over linoleum in preparation to installing porcelain tile. Both had to be removed and redone because the tile was not straight, there were large gaps at corners, first entrance tile was only approx. 3 inches with full size tile at tub (the contractor  had laid tile by starting at tub rather than centering tile from center of room. Also had cut 2 inch piece out of tile for the water inlet hose to the commode and had planned just to fill with grout. And had installed white painted toe mold. The cement board which is usually used in shower walls was removed as well and replaces with Durrock which should have been used to begin with. The cost of purchasing the extra tile, Durrock screws, and thinset is contractor’s cost due to his error in laying tile wrong to start with.7.       Installed new shoe (toe) mold. Contractor purchased 7 pieces (unpainted) the second time. The white toe mold that had been installed was torn and broken by contractor’s employee during removal as was much of the tile chipped and broken. Homeowner stained and prepared the toe mold before installing new pieces.8.       Installed toilet with new wax ring as stated in #59.       Painted walls the second time because paint lines visible and missed areas visible. There was not three coats applied. Homeowner questioned the lack of use of drop cloth to protect the new granite, commode and tub to the contractor. Was told the employee was an “expert” in painting and didn’t need a drop cloth. Painter left used paint brush and roller in roller pan containing used paint to use the next time they came.Homeowner cleaned paint spray from tub, granite, commode and floor spending 6 hours doing this!10.   Painted window frame and trim around closet and entry door (refused to paint either door because “was not part of the agreement” leaving the doors slightly different color. The doors were painted by homeowner later after contractor no longer showed up.11.   Painted ceiling twice again to cover streaks from first coat. Homeowner removed exhaust fan and light fixtures that the painter had not removed as well as tower holders and cleaned paint from each. Used same technique with paint brush and roller pan leaving both, coated with paint, overnight to use without cleaning the next time.12.   Caulked window frame and behind toe mold in front of tub.13.   Rehung mirrors which had to be raised due to the height of installed granite back splash14.   Raised electrical box to fit mirror. The mirror had a cut out that fit the electrical box position prior to the instillation of granite. The contractor did not measure correctly in order to fit the granite height creating the need to move the electrical box.15.   Installed threshold which the homeowner purchased, stained and polyurathaned prior to installation. The contractor had planned to use a piece of thin frame molding.16.   The stain on the ceiling of the floor below did require 4-5 coats of paint which the contractor agreed. The area painted was approximately 3’ by 2’.17.   Install two new undermount sinks to the new granite countertop. Earthworks owner/contractor stated he paid for the following:11 boxes of tile +++,  retail cost was $1.59/tile, 6 tiles/box. Extra number due to removing and redoing tile floor; not owners responsibility to purchase 3 gallons of paint: Homeowner paid $60 in cash for the bathroom wall paint, the ceiling paint used for the bathroom was also used for the living room stain. But, a gallon of paint for one small window frame and two door and floor trim? At best, this would cost approx. $100 with much left over.CaulkDurrock he had to purchase and screws because he laid the wrong flooring firstThinsetSheet rock mud: no sheet rock used in this projectTwo sink drains $13.98 eaUnder counter stainless steel sink.  This was a free sink given with purchase of granite slab!Contractor even stated he has several at his shop from previous jobs.7 sticks white shoe mold at his expense when he 1) did not get homeowner’s approval of color choice and 2) destroyed much of it when removing tile7 stick natural (meaning unstained or painted) shoe (toe) moldGrout: The color of the grout was wrong the first time the tile was laid. This was discussed with the contractor who agreed to talk with Lowe’s where purchased. He used the same grout with the same dye with the same results (grout color much lighter than the tile). He did not use the proper grout instructed by the manufacturer with the same manufacturer’s dye.SealerPayment: Homeowner has copies of cleared checks made payable to Earthworks and Chris Pace in the total amount of $4,000, add to that $60 paid in cash for paint. Homeowner has requested several times an itemized list including cost of all materials purchased by contractor but has yet to receive any receipts or itemization. The number employees from this company to enter homeowners home is 4 which includes the owner/contractor, 5 if you include the day his teenage son rode with him. Without exception, every one of the contractor’s employees stated he had multiple problems with other jobs, had accepted too many jobs, never got the job completed on time, frequently had to cancel at last minute, many complaints from customers. As to the “salesmen”; the only saleswoman homeowner worked with directly was in picking the granite from Absolute Stone Design in Richmond who would not tell homeowner the cost of any pieces of granite stating “the contractor will tell you that”.Homeowner has paid $4060 of agreed to total of contract. In addition has had to hire additional services to complete plumbing of the bathroom sinks, and for to caulk the granite and sinks because the contractor never returned to complete the contracted job. Also, considered are materials used in cleaning the paint from granite, toilet, and tub totaling approximately $325. Approximate cost to install the kitchen under counter sink and attach to drain/water and disposal will $300.  I would have expected an honest contractor to have replaced the toilet having created a crack in to upper toilet bowl while moving it twice in laying tile. The cost of replacing this toilet will be approximately$250 plus labor. This is approximately $900 total additional cost I should be reimbursed because of this contractor incompletion of work and damage done which must now be replaced. It is my mistake that I did not research Earthworks on Revdex.com or read reviews before employing Chris Pace owner/contractor of Earthworks. I most certainly shall be certain to let all whom I know to not make this same mistake. The pictures displayed by Chris P[redacted] are after the homeowner removed trash and paint spatter from multiple areas and does not include the two months of mess, uncertainty, need for watchfulness, and now skepticism of other advertised contractors who claim to be "master" in their trade.Sincerely,[redacted]

Terrible, extremely unprofessional. The guy that runs the place and the lady that answers the phone are the worst. I attempted to have them come out and quote me on installation of hardwoods and tile. The first time they called 30 minutes before they were suppose to be here to cancel, then they were suppose to come at 8am on Monday. Not only did they not show up but I have not heard from them since. That is really a terrible way to do business and I would not reccomend them to anyone

[redacted]

Over four months ago, [redacted] demolished my bathroom to do a bathroom remodel. One year prior, I had seen [redacted] ad in the [redacted] coupon pack in Charlottesville, Va. The ad stated he would do a complete bathroom remodel for $3300. I gave [redacted] a budget of $5000, not to exceed $6000. This is stated in an email he had me sign because he said he didn't use any type of formal/real contract. As it turns out, there is a regulation on this. He told me he had two weeks open in August because another woman had canceled her job. This was a major factor in why I hired [redacted] and he knew this, because I was off work on disability and would be home while he was doing the bathroom. I would wait for hours and no one would show up or call. I actually took an extra week off work just to be there the third week. After I had to go back to work my mother came and sat for hours waiting. They didn't protect my home or take away trash as he said they would. [redacted] did not inform me, nor did he state in the email I signed that I would have to pay for, and pick up, everything outside his bid: flooring, lighting, paint, molding, toilet shower fixtures, permit, inspection, grout, drain pipe, rubber seal and rubber seal for toilet. [redacted] would go on and on about how all the other contractors in the area were just crooks, while bragging obnoxiously about how he was a master electrician, a master plumber, etc. Other than that, he couldn't communicate on much of anything. The shower he left me with didn't drain and he was supposed to come back and redo, but he had one excuse after another, blaming me for not leaving my home open for him to get in. Soon after, I had to fire him because he was acting erratic and weird and threatened me in an email that,"I better have a check waiting for him the next day", after telling me I didn't owe anymore money until the job was done. Also, I was afraid of him given some things the subcontractors had said to me, and, now I know, was also said to the other customers. He became irate when I said I couldn't leave my home open for him when no one could be there after I went back to work. He also blamed everything that went wrong on me or my "old" house. Apparently, this is his MO, as I have now gotten together with two other victims and we are moving forward together to recoup our losses. Our stories are almost identical in the way [redacted] treated us. We have all the disgusting unprofessional emails he sent us. It was the same with all three of us, no workers would show up to work and when they did it would be late in the day and they only worked an hour or two and leave, never accomplishing anything. He would leave basically kids alone unsupervised to do things they weren't qualified to do.There is page after page of inspection violations with this guy, it is unbelievable! I had three different new estimates to finish the job and they all apologized for laughing because they couldn't believe how awful the work was that he did. From the plumbing, to the wiring to the tile and how the toilet stuck out so far from the wall. Last week, the electric just stopped working in the bathroom only and it turns out the wires in the light switch were rapped around but the screws were never tightened and it had fallen off. The total shower had to be ripped out and I now have a BEAUTIFUL new shower(with the tile I actually wanted (that [redacted] said wasn't in my budget) after 4 months of not being able to bath on my own home, having to drive ten miles every night after work to my mothers house. My toilet now sits against the wall and my bathroom will be finished next week. One man did "right" in two days, what [redacted] and his crew did "wrong" in six weeks!

Review: After agreeing to replace my roof for a said amount with a guarantee for workmanship and against any leaks we have discovered several things were not done properly on the replacement. The first leak to the roof was repaired but not the damage to the drywall inside. There was no flashing put on the fireplace nor around any of the exit vents. Tiles have been flying off the roof during high winds which he refuses to take responsibility for. He sent someone to put the tiles back on but they nailed directly through top of the tiles. We have come to find out that the tiles were not nailed in properly to begin with and that a starter tile was not used along the roof's edge only tar paper exists. The ridge vent is coming off and needs to be repaired as well. We have given the man several opportunities to come out and inspect his contractor's work, but he has not been out since the estimate. He appears to be using unqualified people.Desired Settlement: WE would like for [redacted] to come out to see the roof. We would like him to pay a qualified contractor to do the repair properly. Proper starter tiles put on the edge of the roof all the way around, flashing put on the fireplace and all tiles that were nailed through the top replaced and the ridge vent repaired.

Review: Contracted start date 12/15/2005, est. completion date 12/23/2005 to obtain and install granite vanity tops x2 (one with 2 sinks, replacing drains), paint walls, ceiling, baseboards, install selected floor tile, replace ote molding, and to install new kitchen sink and drain with basket.

Work is stilll not complete, has not installed drains in bath, kitchen sink, or caulk granite nor around sinks.

Used wrong tile under flooring and laid tile wrong (had him remove and re do).

Cut granite wrong length due to his measurements leaving 1/2 inch gap between granite and wall on dressing table.

Wall & ceiling paint applied without using drop cloth getting paint spatters over granite, tub, commode

Did not mix grout the color requested due to using wrong grout required by manufacturer

Left paint rollers in paint pan with unused paint and brush to be used next day

Frequently canceled time/day to work

Rarely arrived at time stated they would and stayed only 1-2 hours without completing what they planned

Asked weekly for an advance on total agreed to amount. By doing so paid full amount before completing job

Quality of work very poor though claims to be a master electrician and master plumber with years of experienceDesired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed for the work left incomplete with approximate additional cost to me of $700 for plumbing services, materials to caulk the granite, and sinks, install new sink in kitchen, and materials cleaning the paint from the granite, toilet, and tub.

Due to non interest in paying for all materials per contract. In light of not receiving full payment on bathroom when completed, Earthworks decided not to Install kitchen sink. Also considering that 7 people had an issue with Mrs [redacted]. It is the decision of Earthworks not to have any further dealings with Mrs [redacted]. I have attached pies to show what Mrs [redacted] considers to be "very poor " work. Sincerely, Chris P[redacted] Earthworks Development

Review: My husband and I agreed to services via a signed contract to remodel our kitchen. We were given a verbal estimated completion time of 2-3 weeks. We understand that some adjustments to the time frame had to be made (for example we had to wait a week for new cabinets when we were originally going to use old ones), but ten weeks later we still do not have a completed kitchen. The work that has been done is sloppy. We have satisfied the agreed upon payment and do not have a completed, professionally done kitchen to show for the nearly $14,000 spent. We have even began to finish it ourselves (hardware installation, painting) as we simply can't wait for them anymore.

Additionally, we had repairs done in our utility room to include replacement of damaged duct work. One duct was not replaced that we noticed weeks ago when we were told the room was done. The duct is still the old, damaged duct.

The entire project was originally quoted at $10200 on 9/29/14. The contract was revised on 10/20/14 to include new cabinets and additional labor to $13905. We have paid in full, less $34.Desired Settlement: I would like for the company, to include the head contractor, who we hired but hasn't been on site in five weeks, to complete the job in a timely matter (within two weeks). If this is not something he can commit to, we would like a partial refund to hire someone else finish the job.
