Stay awayYou'd be better off picking a random name out of the phone book This "company" installed the HVAC system in my home when it was originally built, and "maintained" it for the original owner We continued with him when we bought the houseThis spring, one AC unit was not cooling Despite being a regular customer for years, and having a service contract up for renewal, he took over a week to show up (strike 1) The compressor was spinning, just not cooling His diagnosis was a frozen fan motor, and said it needed to a new fan motor, fan and capacitor-$600...he actually suggested the entire compressor be replaced, since it was or so years old (thousands of $$)Made no sense to me, given the fan had been spinning, so when I got home I checked, and it was spinning so freely, you could blow on the fan, and it would spin (strike 2)I also asked if the service contract offered any savings, ie., a discount on parts or labor or anything, and said frankly, if all a couple hundred dollars got me was visits a year to change filters and say everything is fine (and then, only when I called for a checkup), it wasn't worth it He wouldn't even say what the contract covered (strike 3)
At that point, having been called out, he got angry, and said he didn't want to work with me, using the excuse of a late payment from a year ago, which was the result of a bank change by us, and an auto-payment failure that was cleared up as soon as it was brought to our attention So we agreed to part ways (to put it mildly)I called the guy I used in my prior home, who I trust implicitly He was appalled at the installation and "service" I told him ECHAC annually charged up the one unit with coolant, since it was a chronic leaker, and last year, with a little pressure from me, actually found the leak, cut out the section, replaced it, and recharged the systemWhen I told my new/old guy this, he asked if the lines were flushed with nitrogen after being opened to avoid corrosion that would ultimately kill the system (no, strike 4), and pointed out no bleed valve was installed (strike 5) Also noted that the cooling coils on all compressors appeared to have never been cleaned in years, were completely clogged, and straining the system...apparently this is also not part of the ECHAC "service contract" either (strike 6)...so what was I paying for?? Never even pointed out by ECHACMy original guy went thru all the systems in the house, pointing out things that were never done, never installed properly, never cleaned annually (Strike...7? What, service contract???)a complete mess I ended up spending a lot of cash on deferred maintenance and corrections, but it was worth itThe "frozen fan motor?" Still spinning happily away months later (strike 8)
My advice, throw a dart at the yellow pages, call whoever you hit, and you'll do at least as well as calling East Coast, and probably better

Stay away. You'd be better off picking a random name out of the phone book. This "company" installed the HVAC system in my home when it was originally built, and "maintained" it for the original owner. We continued with him when we bought the house.
This spring, one AC unit was not cooling. Despite being a regular customer for 1.5 years, and having a service contract up for renewal, he took over a week to show up (strike 1). The compressor was spinning, just not cooling. His diagnosis was a frozen fan motor, and said it needed to a new fan motor, fan and capacitor-$600...he actually suggested the entire compressor be replaced, since it was 12 or so years old (thousands of $$). Made no sense to me, given the fan had been spinning, so when I got home I checked, and it was spinning so freely, you could blow on the fan, and it would spin (strike 2). I also asked if the service contract offered any savings, ie., a discount on parts or labor or anything, and said frankly, if all a couple hundred dollars got me was 2 visits a year to change filters and say everything is fine (and then, only when I called for a checkup), it wasn't worth it. He wouldn't even say what the contract covered (strike 3)
At that point, having been called out, he got angry, and said he didn't want to work with me, using the excuse of a late payment from a year ago, which was the result of a bank change by us, and an auto-payment failure that was cleared up as soon as it was brought to our attention. So we agreed to part ways (to put it mildly).
I called the guy I used in my prior home, who I trust implicitly. He was appalled at the installation and "service". I told him ECHAC annually charged up the one unit with coolant, since it was a chronic leaker, and last year, with a little pressure from me, actually found the leak, cut out the section, replaced it, and recharged the system.
When I told my new/old guy this, he asked if the lines were flushed with nitrogen after being opened to avoid corrosion that would ultimately kill the system (no, strike 4), and pointed out no bleed valve was installed (strike 5). Also noted that the cooling coils on all 5 compressors appeared to have never been cleaned in 12 years, were completely clogged, and straining the system...apparently this is also not part of the ECHAC "service contract" either (strike 6)...so what was I paying for?? Never even pointed out by ECHAC.
My original guy went thru all the systems in the house, pointing out things that were never done, never installed properly, never cleaned annually (Strike...7? What, service contract???)... a complete mess. I ended up spending a lot of cash on deferred maintenance and corrections, but it was worth it.
The "frozen fan motor?" Still spinning happily away 4 months later (strike 8)
My advice, throw a dart at the yellow pages, call whoever you hit, and you'll do at least as well as calling East Coast, and probably better.
