East Side Chimney Reviews (1)

[redacted], I apologize for that you feel this way, however, your complaint is full of untrue statements and half truths. First of all, the statement of refusing to give you a receipt is completely false. I use 2 part carbonless invoices that clearly state the proposed work to be completed and an itemized...

price of each portion of the job. You received this yellow 2 part proposal/receipt when I came to your house to look at the damage. That is how you knew the price and why you hired me to complete the job. When I completed the work I asked for the copy to mark it paid and you could not find your copy. After some time after completion you asked me to send you another copy and I dug through hundreds of receipts to send you. You then verified that you had it, In fact you sent ME a picture of it several months later. When I came out for your inspection I gave you 2 options 1)Rebuild all damaged masonry 2) Rebuild the top of the chimney only. After explaining to me that you did not want to spend the money to rebuild, you chose to do the repair that would insure that the chimney would not collapse over the winter. I told you that after the winter we would need to come back to do further re-pointing work (after the ice took out the loose joints) We did the job EXACTLY as proposed and rebuilt the entire top of your chimney, replaced your flue liner, repaired 2 shoulders and repointed the joints that were large enough to repoint w/o grinding. The work came out perfect. You have claimed that my work has failed, however you have not provided any proof of any of my work failing because it has not. We did all of this work for $1079, very far from overpriced! You refused an interior inspection even though it was offered free of charge. I believe you said "we don't want you to look at it and find other problems” It was after several months after winter that you had an inspector come to your house as part of the sale of your home. It was noted that there were mortar joints inside the fireplace (where you did not allow me to inspect or fix) and some outside (that I told you would need to be fixed at some point). You texted and we spoke in detail about what the inspector wanted. I then requested that you send me the inspection report and after several days you did. I immediately responded to you and offer options on how to address this and satisfy the buyers. During that time the buyers and their agent also contacted me and after learning that they were trying to hire me to give a quote I stopped all communication with them to avoid a conflict of interest. I did however tell them that you had spent a good amount of money on the chimney and the work carried a transferrable guarantee which I will still stand behind. It was at this point that your realtor, [redacted] took over for you. That was the last time we spoke via text, face to face, or on the phone. The very same day I spoke with [redacted] I agreed to leave my job miles away and finish the FREE inspection of the inside that I was not allowed to view before and give you a price on the additional repoint work. I gave her 3 hours to contact me for verification that someone could let me in and she failed to do so. At that point I took it upon myself to call her and she did not answer. I took my time getting to my next appointment and even drove out of my way to give extra time to her. She did not text back until after 5PM that day. I then offered 3 additional dates/times in which to meet someone there and she did not respond. She then texted me in the middle of the day asking me to come right over, but this was not a time I had available and certainly not a time I offered to come by as I was on the other side of town on a job. The only contact I had with her after that was the next day when she texted that you had found someone else to fix your chimney and I replied immediately. I do not know how much more accommodating I could have been. Your statement that “he never showed up” is not true given the fact that it was you and your realtor that did not show up and she has obviously lied to you to cover her unresponsiveness. It was several weeks after that that I happened to see a very negative review on google (which greatly hurts a small business like mine) that I attempted to text you to show you proof that not only had I tried to meet with you, I had plans to do so and showed you a screenshot of my call that was made to [redacted]. You then told me to stop contacting you or you would contact the police and file harassment charges. This is far from your claim that you made to everyone on my google listing that I would not stand behind my work and refused to come over to help you. I was, and still am, willing to do exactly that. My reputation in this industry is very important to me. The negative review you left is untrue and hurts my business. The work was done exactly as quoted and for a more than a fair rate. The work that I did was solid and continues to be. You have proven to me that no matter what attempt I make to offer a resolution to you, you are unwilling to let me do so and are interested in only further tarnishing my reputation. I have taken screenshots proving everything I have claimed. I have not seen any proof of my work failing. When you go into a auto repair shop and pay for an oil change and during inspection months later you find that your tires are worn, it is unfair to blame the mechanic, especially when he tells you that your tires are worn and would need to be replaced. I have included screen shots that are time stamped to verify my claims and negate the false claims made by you. I hope you choose not to ignore them this time around and take your review down. I wish you luck on the sale of your home.Sincerely, Mike G[redacted]East Side Chimney The green messages were to [redacted], The blue messages were to his realtor [redacted]. Please note the responsiveness and the time/date (which was the same day she contacted me) I had to screen shot the attempted phone call that she did not respond to and told me I did not make. She apparently told [redacted] that I was supposed to be there and did not call or show up. This would frustrate me as well, but I made it very clear to him that I had called, spent hours on the phone and even left jobs to be there. I would also like to note that the repair work he is talking about is outside of the scope of work which I fixed. As you can see, he made no attempt at a resolution (contrary to his complaint and review) In fact [redacted] and I did not speak at all after [redacted] called me because I was told by her that the best way to handle this was through her. I was also instructed at that time not to contact the buyers agent and I did not. If he had called or texted before I found his review and tried to schedule with me, I would have promptly done so. Also, please note that I offered additional options to reschedule and her response was not until days later to come out less than 2 hours after she texted on a day that I specifically told her I was not available. The next text from her was to tell me that they had found someone else (because I was not available within 2hrs on a day that I told her I was not available) It was after I was led to believe that they had found someone else to do the additional work that he wrote his review and complaint. He has made it seem as if he was ignored and I hope now he realizes that is not the case.
