[Your Answer Here] since the company overcharged me in mileage and added a 3% fee I will now take this matter to the attorney General for imposing illegal surcharges You had no contract in writing stating that your company charges a surcharge for using a cardUnless you have it written it is illegalI will have this further investigatedAs far as overcharging mileage get to know long island so that other customers don't get ripped off by your company Unfortunately we had no other options but to tow home and like your driver stated we don't do small jobs only large jobs to make money I am still wanting the 3% surcharge back in order to settle this issueYou already made enough money on me by going the long way home

I was too I would pay $8 per additional mile but was told it will be 54 miles of which I was charged 69 miles.  The driver went all the way to Syosset which was an additional 20 miles away from my home.  Why? Again I was charged 3.5% credit card fee which is illegal in the state of New York to charge.. I was not told about this fee. Surcharges are illegal in 10 states and New York is one of the ststes.  I want a refund of 3.5% credit card fee along with the additional mileage charged.

This call was was given to us by the complainants roadside assistance. As she stated she was covered for only five miles. After 5 miles the customer was responsible to pay $8.00 per mile. Her roadside assistance ESTIMATED that the mileage would be 58 miles. However commercial vehicle are...

prohibited from taking parkways in NY. This was explained to the roadside assistance company before talking the call " they were told that the mileage will most likely be more then there estimate. The customer agreed to pay the $8.00 per mile. The customer could have chosen to tow the car to a local repair shop and not had to pay anything. Not sure what the problem really is.

The business has responded.  Please see below:I never told the customer it was 54 miles, Her roadside assistance did. Let me just say [redacted] roadside assistance which is [redacted], called me about this problem and understands that i'm in the right and would stand by me in this situation. There is a reason that they say $8.00 per mile and not just x amount of dollars. The reason is 54 miles was an estimate. Commercial vehicles are not allowed on parkways and a different route was taken. By the way my drivers are instructed to take the fastest route available. [redacted] agreed to pay $8 dollars per mile over the five miles she was covered for. Not to pay x amount of dollars, but $8 dollars per mile after 5 miles she was covered for. I have the paper work that shows this. She was aware of it and is now going back on her word and what she agreed to pay. Next I don't know anything about Long Island and where Syosset and Ocean side are. I highly doubt that may driver would go 20 miles out of his way, and I believe [redacted] is lying about this. She claims her husband the person that was towed not her, was a truck driver him self. By the way her husband was actually a nice guy and gave the driver a generous tip. I guess he was satisfied with the service. But if he was a truck driver you would think that he would know the legal truck route to take and instruct the driver on where to go. [redacted] states that she was billed for an additional 20 miles however, if you do a simple calculation she was bill for 69 miles and was told it would be about 54 miles. 69-54= 15 miles not 20 miles. [redacted] also first stated that she was charge 3% for using a credit card. Now in this resent letter she is claims to be charged 3.5%. Which one is it? The story keeps changing and it seems that with [redacted] the truth is very unimportant. As for a credit card charge being illegal, why is it that at every gas station I go to the price of gas is about ten cents per gallon more if you pay by credit card than it is you pay by cash. The bottom line is [redacted] agreed to pay $8.00 per mile out side of her coverage and thats what she was charged. She keeps changing the facts in her story. [redacted] is aware of the situation and if I did do something wrong [redacted] would make me reimburse the customer. However there not doing this because this is the deal that was made, and the deal is on paper. I'm not giving any money back to [redacted]. If this nonsense continues, I will seek legal actions.

Review: My car got stuck on I 684 interstate. Called roadside assistance with insurance company. They contracted out east towing. Was told insurance company will pay 5 miles and the rest will be out of pocket. When car reached home I was charged 643.20. The distance between the rest area (BEDFORD REST AREA) and my house is 54 miles. I was charged for 74 miles. I was also charged a 3% fee for using a credit card from which I know that new york prohibits merchants from charging this fee. I spoke with the manager Paul who basically said tuff luck. He then phoned me back to tell me to go to my insurance company and get the money back from them. He did not care as long as he got paid. They were not the ones who charged me this ridiculous price. This happened on a Sunday nightDesired Settlement: I want to be reimbursed the additional mileage and the 3% credit card charge which was illegal.

[Your Answer Here] since the company overcharged me in mileage and added a 3% fee I will now take this matter to the attorney General for imposing illegal surcharges. You had no contract in writing stating that your company charges a surcharge for using a card. Unless you have it written it is illegal. I will have this further investigated. As far as overcharging mileage get to know long island so that other customers don't get ripped off by your company. Unfortunately we had no other options but to tow home and like your driver stated we don't do small jobs only large jobs to make money. I am still wanting the 3% surcharge back in order to settle this issue. You already made enough money on me by going the long way home.
