Review: The storage unit that East Wenatchee Mini Storage rented to me has a 1 1/2" to 2" gap at the back of the storage unit, where mud, dirt and moisture has seeped in. This damage is not covered under any renters insurance per insurance adjusters, because this is surface water caused from a building problem. The office manager had one of the company's maintenance employees look at the unit and he stated that there was definitely a problem with the unit and that there was moisture, so I needed to have my furniture moved to a different unit. The office manager at East Wenatchee Mini Storage asked what amount of compensation I was looking for, because she knows there is a problem with the unit. When I gave her a estimate she said that it was to high. Later that day I received a letter stating that the storage company is exercising their rights to end my contract. I guess the manager was thinking that the problem is just going to go away. This is not the way you treat a customer that has been with you for 6 or 7 years and has always paid their rent. East Wenatchee Mini Storage has a hill behind a row of storage unit that has caused damage to the storage units over the years or they rent storage units that are exposed to the outside elements. It is East Wenatchee Mini Storages responsibility to keep the building up to code and that is not being done with the storage unit that they rented out to myself. I tried to reach the owner of the property, because the office manager tried to talk over me on every conversation that I had with her. The manager at East Wenatchee Mini Storage told me that she would not have the owner contact me. I tried to resolve this amicably, but I am having to seek other directions.Desired Settlement: 1. Replacement of damaged property.2. For East Wenatchee Mini Storage to bring the storage unit back up to code for the next customer who believes they are renting a sealed storage unit. The storage unit passed inspection at the time it was built and it is the owners responsibility to keep it that way per building inspector.

At the East Wenatchee Mini Storage we always try to
accommodate and work with our customers. We tried many times to work with Mrs [redacted].
We set up movers many times and received no cooperation from Mrs [redacted]. If there was a problem in the unit we would
be willing to compensate Mrs [redacted] for any damages; however, during the
investigation we have found that what Mrs [redacted] claims did not have any
supporting evidence.
Mrs
[redacted] is the Aunt of an ex-employee of our facility. James Hollman(Mrs [redacted] nephew) changed the price November 24th
2009 of Mrs [redacted]’s(then in the name of Raymond Braley) unit to $20 less than
what the unit normally rents for. Mrs
[redacted] has received a substantial discount of $780 throughout the last 39
months. Management was unaware of the change until after Mr Hollman no longer
worked for our facility. Now Mrs [redacted] is demanding anywhere from $400-$1000
compensation for a problem that we have determined does not exist. We scheduled a moving company 5 times for Mrs
[redacted] so that we could be able to look in to Mrs [redacted]’s claim. To do so
her items needed to not be in the unit. She refused our movers 5 times and
demanded compensation for something that we did not have the opportunity to investigate
(due to Mrs [redacted]s noncooperation). After
Mrs [redacted] refused movers the 5th time we sent her an eviction
notice as we needed to be able to enter the unit to investigate her claim. Mrs
[redacted] moved out of her unit March 31st 2013. We were able to enter
the unit April 1st 2013 and
investigate Mrs [redacted]s claim. We have come to the conclusion that there was
not a moisture problem in the unit. The
building is up to code and the unit is in rentable condition.
Mrs
[redacted] explains that there was water/mud/dirt that has seeped through the back
of the unit. We have removed a small
section of the wall during our investigation. There is the exterior metal on
the outside of the unit, then a 5/8 inch drywall, then 4inch thick metal beams
(structure of the unit) then another 5/8 inch drywall. The stain that Mrs [redacted] claims came from
outside elements is only on the 5/8 inch drywall on the inside of the unit. The
5/8 inch drywall closest to the metal on the outside has no stain and still
looks in the same condition as the day the unit was built. Mrs [redacted]s claim
is that outside elements have entered the unit in the form of water/mud/dirt
there is no evidence that any outside elements have ever entered the unit.
April 5th 2013 at 9:30am we took
a video of the facility and Mrs [redacted]s unit. In the early morning of April
5th 2013 there was a substantial rain. We went to the unit to search for any
signs of moisture per Mrs [redacted]s claim. No signs of moisture were found.
Mrs
[redacted] states in her letter that there are rodent droppings as well. We take
proactive measures by having a pest company bait the entire facility and keep
it up year round. Maintenance records of
this company can be provided upon request.
Mrs
[redacted] states that she has owned the unit and paid her unit for the last 6
years. Our records show that Mrs [redacted]
was not the original owner of the unit. Raymond Braley was the original owner
of the unit. Mrs [redacted] states that these items have been in the unit since
2006 that means that according to file Raymond Braley was the one who did the
inspection of the unit March 23rd 2006 and knows what condition the items in
the storage were in when they were stored. [redacted] came in November 18th
2010 and put the unit in to her name and signed her lease. Mrs [redacted] was a customer at our facility
from November 18th 2010 to March 31st 2013 a total of 29 months.
East
Wenatchee Mini Storage did not Charge Mrs [redacted] rent for the month of March
2013 $58.00 and she received a substantial discount of $780.00 for a total of
$838.00. The East Wenatchee Mini Storage feels that no other compensation will
be necessary. Mrs [redacted]’s deposit of
$25.00 will be returned in the form of a check.
Upon
request we can produce call records, pictures, videos, and reports concerning
this matter.
Sincerely,
East Wenatchee Mini

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9491815, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

My unit was paid for on a monthly payment cycle
by my parents and then myself since 2006. This last winter we had a
warm winter day which melted the snow behind the storage unit and
water/mud came from under a gap in the back wall damaging the items
in my unit (note: the attached pics taken after I left the unit and
before their recent repairs).
Only after I said
something about the unit leaking and my property being damaged did
they ask me what I wanted for the damage. Unhappy with the cost of
the damage , they terminated my agreement and I was told to clear
out my unit.
There are so many
contradictions in East Wenatchee Mini storages response I don’t
even know where to begin.
If there was no
damage as they say and the monthly rent was paid, there was no reason
given for them to cancel our agreement. I’m guessing it was because
I complained about the damage caused by the unit and their not
wanting to pay for the damages caused.
They supposedly
set up movers five times to get me out as soon as possible but times
and dates, I guess were for internal company knowledge only. I was
only notified by East Wenatchee Mini Storage of one move date. The
manager at the East Wenatchee Mini Storage left a message on 02/27
stating that they had hired movers to move my belongings on 03/05 @
10:00 AM and if that was not going to work to give her a call back.
I called the manager back and left a message and told her that date
would not work. That we needed to set up a time that was convenient
for both party’s
East Wenatchee
Mini Storage has repeatedly stated after the fact that they needed my
belongings out to look at the damage. I guess maybe with the mix up
that goes on over there, that they forgot that they had left me a
messages asking if they could set up a time to have their maintenance
employee go in and look at the damage. In February I went into the
storage facility and a maintenance employee along with myself and my
mother went and looked at the damage to the unit. The maintenance
employee stated that there was moisture in the unit and I needed to
have my belongings moved out of there. I have any back up
evidence/documentation you may need to back this up.
I also have any
proof needed that on 03/04 the management at East Wenatchee Mini
Storage ask me what kind of compensation that I was looking for.
Any pictures, voice mail or witness to the above statements can be provided. The pictures updated in this email alone show a different picture then the after pictures that East Wenatchee Mini Storage provided.
As far as the
prices they charged, I’m guessing as like in any company, the
company sets the prices not the employees and should know what is
being charged for their own units. I paid the price per month as per
my rental agreement they gave me. I’m not responsible for their
business practices.
I would like to
warn future renters of this company
- They
say they are a reputable company, but are responsible for absolutely
nothing that happens to their units or your items you paid to
store inside.
- (note)
They also ask you to ensure anything over $25,000 and want the
owner to be named as an additional insured party. Why would you need
insurance if there not responsible for damage.
- Highly
suggest getting the agreement looked by your lawyer before doing
business with this company
Buyer beware,
seems a little one sided on their end and their policies do not
support the responsible customer. I would take my money elsewhere
Regards,
Business

We have investigated Mrs. [redacted]s claim and have
found no supporting evidence of her claim. We have clearly proven with pictures
that what Mrs. [redacted] claim could not have
happened. We understand Mrs. [redacted]
does not accept our reply; however, in the lease that Mrs. [redacted] signed it
clearly states that storage insurance was her responsibility. We tried to work with Mrs. [redacted] many times
and she ignored our messages and moving appointments many times. An eviction notice was the only way to
investigate Mrs. [redacted]s claim. The building is up to code and in rentable
condition now and was at the time Mrs. [redacted] occupied it. We feel that we have done everything possible
to investigate and to work with Mrs. [redacted].
We feel that no compensation is necessary. Thank you for your help.

Just want to remind Mrs. [redacted]/management at the East
Wenatchee Mini Storage that the Revdex.com has rules about making truthful
statements. Mrs. [redacted] of the East
Wenatchee Mini Storage has stated that she couldn't get into the unit to Investigate
(I believe that’s what she is calling it).
What she needs to remember is that she can tell thee Revdex.com whatever she
wants, but that will not hold up in court.
I have two voice mail messages from Mrs. [redacted] trying to set up a
meeting to go into the unit. Mrs.
[redacted] actually had me come in and sent a maintenance man over to look at the
unit prior to her ending my contract on March 4th. The Revdex.com may not investigate this, but any
perjury done on Mrs. [redacted]’s part or any employee of East Wenatchee Mini
Storage will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. And once again I had a licensed building
inspector in the storage unit back on 12/24/12 who took pictures. From my understanding the cost for his
testimony would be substantial, considering he lives out of town. I will also tell Mrs. [redacted] again that
surface water caused by a crack in East Wenatchee Mini Storage's foundation is
not covered under renters insurance. I
have showed pictures to a insurance adjuster prior to any altering of the
storage unit by the East Wenatchee Mini Storage. I can put a awning up and call it a storage
unit, but no one is going to pay for that.
Unsure of what if any investigation was done by Mrs.
[redacted] at the East Wenatchee Mini Storage.
There was definitely a big gap in
the back of the storage unit that East Wenatchee Mini Storage found upon their
investigation prior to March 4th. That is
why Mrs. [redacted] of the East Wenatchee Mini Storage decided to end my
contract.
I was trying to resolve this amicably, but it sounds like it
is not going to happen that way and I am not going to waste anymore of my time.
I appreciate your time, but I will just subpoena the people
I need and take this to court. Mrs.
[redacted] may want to look at what statements she has made on this complaint,
because I have proof that shows otherwise.
Enclosed are pictures clearly showing the crack in the
foundation, prior to me moving out and before their repairs were done. East Wenatchee Mini Storage went in and evened
out the cement and inserted a board at the back of the unit (Nice repair). This would explain why Mrs. [redacted] wanted to move my belongings out so quickly, to cover up any liability on the part of the East Wenatchee Mini Storage.
