Eastern Mortgage

I did not have a good experience with this company at all. I was a first-time homebuyer, which they knew. This was a conventional loan with 20% down. I was pre-approved. The house was empty. The seller was motivated. There was NOTHING complicated about this loan.

I had a closing date set and was never told that it might be in jeopardy. I just happened to call Eastern Mortgage on the Wednesday before the Monday closing to ensure that everything was in order. Only then was I informed that my closing was not going to happen. There was no indication at ANY point in time that there might be a problem. (Keep in mind that I was moving out of my other house and into the new one on the closing date. I had movers, trucks, etc. lined up for the weekend move.)

I was then told that the lender had "one condition and it was no big deal." Well, that "one condition" turned into two weeks of multiple letters of explanation, including a request for out-of-state divorce papers from 23 YEARS ago, additional documents, which they KNEW I needed right from the beginning, but FAILED to request, duplicate submission of several documents. Each time I was asked for a document, I turned it around in hours, so they were not waiting on me. Finally, I had to ask the homeowner if I could rent the house until the closing. It was a NIGHTMARE.

After they missed the first closing date, I asked for a new closing date, to which they could definitely commit, and they missed that one, too! I would NEVER use them again nor recommend them to anyone else. HORRIBLE experience.
