Review: This car dealership is awful. They are rude, unprofessional, disrespectful, and unorganized. They use trickery and are manipulative.

I brought a $3100 car from them and put $550 down. It was just a small point A to point B car. I made my $80 payments every 2 weeks consistently.

On Nov 29, 2013 my car payment was due. I called to tell the guy that I brought my car from that I wouldn't be in until Monday because It was Black Friday and I am in Retail Management. I also commute from NJ to PA as I am going through a separation. The mechanic answered and said the guy no longer worked for the company. There was no one else there to speak with either.

On Monday I got off of work around 5:30 and as per the sign and the guy who sold me the car they closed at 7pm. I went straight there from work and it was completely dark and they were closed. On Tuesday the same thing. I called both days on my break and no one answered the phone.

On Wednesday I was off. I got up in the morning and went outside to get in my car to pay my car note and my car was gone. I couldn't believe it. I got a ride to the dealer and asked if they had my car. There was a lady I had never seen before in the office. She asked my name and I told her. Then she said oh yeah it's in [redacted]. I asked her why they took my car as I make all my payments and they took it for $80. She said well it looks like the payment before this never was credited so we took it for $160.

I couldn't believe it. I said Mrs. clearly I make all my payments every 2 weeks on time. The payment for this week is in my pocket. I came here 2 days in a row and no one was here. I was under the impression that you all closed at 7pm. She said yes we do. I'm only here once a week but they do close at 7pm. So I told her well you haven't closed at 7pm at all this week. Then I told her that I sent the prior payment in and no one called me to let me know that there was an issue. I asked her why in the world they would take my car and not even contact me. I had the money to pay it. She was not interested in the money. She did not give me any information on how to get my car back or anything. So finally I said who is in charge? I wanted to speak with the owner. She said the owner doesn't speak to people. I said well there has to be a manager or someone in charge of this place. So she said a name I recognized. And I immediately became concerned and said the mechanic?

She said yes he is in charge. I repeated it. The mechanic is in charge? She said yes. I said okay well where is he. He wasn't there yet. I asked about getting my belongings out of the vehicle and she said oh sure go to [redacted]. Before I went to [redacted] I gave it an hour, came back, and the mechanic was there. I asked him what was going on. His exact words were that they were closing that location and moving all of the cars. I was shocked and confused and said what does that have to do with my car and when was anyone going to tell me. He shrugged said he didn't know. I asked why he took my car. He looked puzzled said he didn't know. I said well aren't you in charge. He said no who told you that. She's in charge inside. She sends out the orders to pick up the cars and deal with collections and all of that. I said well doesn't she call people if there is something in question on an account and he said sometimes if she has time. I explained that I had come in to make my payment and the place was closed and he agreed and said yeah I leave at 6. I said but you're supposed to be open until 7. He said nah I always leave at 6, been doing it since the other guy was here. Then I said well how are people supposed to make their payments and he said I dont know I've been sending everyone who comes in to [redacted] to pay there.

I was very upset at this point and went back inside to speak with her. She had a smirk on her face and an attitude at this point and I asked her why did you tell me that he was in charge? She said because he is here all the time. I said that doesn't make him in charge. This is ridiculous I need to speak with the owner or manager or someone who can make decisions. She said there is no one. You can ask to speak to someone in [redacted]. I said that was unacceptable and she proceeded to have a screaming match with me because she did not want to do her job at which point I left.

I went to [redacted] and they are called [redacted]. The lady at the desk was very rude. She said to sign a form to get my stuff out of the car. I asked to speak to the owner or a manager. She said I don't know who the owner is. I said surely you have a manager. She snatched the paper back and called someone on the phone and told him that I was asking for a manager and she didnt know what my problem was and I didn't want to sign the paper. This was not the case by the way I just wanted to speak with a manager. After several minutes a guy came out and had the same attitude. I told him I wanted to speak with the owner he insisted they didn't know who it was. I became upset and told him that his staff was very rude to me and that they were unprofessional. He turned his back to me and said you know what I'll see you in court I don't have to give you anything. At this point I completely went off because I couldn't understand what these people's problem were. He came back and asked if I wanted to sign the paper to get my stuff.

I told him that I didn't have a problem with signing the paper to get my stuff. I wanted someone to explain to me why they took my car for $80 and why everyone was telling me different things or nothing at all. And how they were closing a dealership and I not even know. So as I am talking to him the lady at the desk keeps making comments in the background. I ignored her at first but then I finally turned to her and said I am not speaking with you that is why I asked for a manager. She continued saying smart comments which included that is why I dont have my car in a taunting manner. I completely ignored her after telling her that she wouldn't have a job for long as you can not treat people in this manner. Then the guy continued with his attitude telling me that they are getting all of Easton's accounts and they don't want them. He said that they aren't his problem and I should speak to someone over there. I told him well they told me to speak to someone over here. He said well they are closing. I said yes and no one notified me of this. The lady jumped in again and said there was a certified letter sent. I said that is impossible because nothing came to me. Then they claimed to have sent a letter saying that all payments had to be made in [redacted]. I advised I received no such communication about that either. After awhile I became tired of going back and forth with them and I removed my belongings from the vehicle and left.

Since this happened I had to resign from my job as I could no longer get to work. I was never provided any information on how to get my car back they were more interested in me not getting it back for some strange reason. I was never given any paperwork about the vehicle being repossessed or anything. I called the dealership a few days later and the number was disconnected. I called the number it referred me to and they answered [redacted]. I'm not sure what these people are into but they are scamming people and I am going to report them to every agency I can because they should not be allowed to treat people how they do or take people's property without going through the proper channels. I now have no car and no job and had to move in with relatives.Desired Settlement: I would like them to waive all fees associated with taking my car and return it to me as well as an apology for the disrespect I received from their entire staff at 2 different lots.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: company was notified on 11/29 that payment would be made on Monday 12/1 as that Friday was Black Friday and I managed a retail store and they would not accept payment over the phone. At that time I was advised that the location's manager was no longer with the company. The mechanic is the one who answered the phone. I came in on Monday and Tuesday after I got off work to make the payment and the location was closed although it was during business hours as both there sign and credit manager claims they close at 7pm. However I got there at 6pm both days and the mechanic confirms that he left at 6pm and is the only one at the location. The car was repossessed on Wednesday. I spoke to the credit manager who claimed that I needed to speak to the mechanic who was now the person in charge who once again was not there so I came back an hour or two later and asked him about the car and he advised me that a. he was not aware that the car had been repossessed and that b. the girl in the office was in charge who just told me an hour ago that he was and that c. the company was closing and they were just trying to move all of the cars. He also said that he hadn't been taking payments at that location but instead referring people to the [redacted] location as he didn't handle that but the credit manager was only in the office once a week. When I went back to speak with her she found it amusing laughed said the owner wouldn't speak to me and that I should speak to a manager at the [redacted] location when I went to pick up my belongings from the car. The company a. never notified me that they were missing a payment, b. never notified me that I needed to go somewhere else to make my payments, and c. never notified me that they were closing. They also never gave me any information on how to get my car back or any information pertaining to repossessing the vehicle. I received no certified letters of any sort pertaining to this matter. Then the attached response they sent says that $480 was past due but yet they say they are missing two payments in the amount of $80. This company failed to notify me of anything. I'm sure I had a right to be told something, starting with my original request to speak to a manager to get the matter resolved. However, when I got to the [redacted] location they told me they wanted nothing to do with any of the Easton accounts and that they only repossessed the cars that they put orders out for so I would need to speak to the credit manager over there who once again had referred me to them. So up until this point they still have not gotten there story straight and are very unprofessional.
