I am rejecting this response because: it isn't true   This really should not be a case of he said she said but simply tell the truth.   In response I was told my a young woman what the cost was on one battery.    I didn't know it was two until he had already had them put in.    He told me to leave battery and his son would put them in.   I never said my husband would be furious just that he wasn't going to be happy I spent too much.   The battery was in backwards and if you do this all the time, why would that have happened.    When we went to use scooter the first time it wouldn't turn on at all.   There is an arrow pointing to the front.   My daughters put it in all the time for me and one of my girls said try turning it around (arrow pointing wrong direction) and it did turn on.    It was the next day it started smoking and stopped working.    I am sure I can track down the gentleman at Macy's that got the screwdriver and helped us take it apart.
We never said we went to a battery specialist just and authorized dealer.    He checked out my scooter and I had to buy another two batteries believing that I could return the first one.   The new dealer said that by putting in backwards it caused the fuses to blow therefore the scooter would not operate.   It is a  ridiculous comment that I only needed for my vacation then I wanted to return?????    Would I be handicapped only for my vacation??   I had two hip replacements in 2012  and last year my knee was replaced.   I cannot walk long distance and need my scooter for that.    The receipt says items can be returned unless it is something personal…obviously not a true statement and should come off their receipts.   My husband has never verbally abused anyone although when the owner lied I would say that is abusive.   I can get a statement from the second person that changed the fuses stating what his conclusions were.  It is sad that when I try to do business in my home town that they are not honorable.    I need my scooter still and it is a crime that I had to buy from two different places and be out that much money.

Review: I purchased a battery for my mobile scooter (had a knee replacement and still not walking very good) I left my old battery at Easy Life because John didn't want to put it in he wanted his son to - just required unscrewing a few screws but I left it. I went to use scooter for the first time on my vacation and the battery was put in backwards there is an arrow pointing to correct side so easy to determine. I rode it for awhile but it acted up - kept stopping. Next day it smoked a bit and completely stopped. My husband and a gentlemen at Macy's Dept Store took apart battery and turned it around but soon after it stopped and would not work at all.We called that day to John and he said he didn't put in wrong but he would look at it. My husband found another service place to look at it. They gave me another battery but said the other one was ok but to return it. By putting in wrong it blew fuses that caused the smoke and stopped it. John refuses to take back the old battery that was less than a week old even lied and said I was there when he took it apart which was not true. I have the receipt and he knows the problem and refuses to help.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back and for him to take the battery even if he charges me a restocking fee which he shouldn't I did nothing wrong and in this type of business you would think they would be accommodating. He was extremely rude and called me a liar. Terrible way to do business in small community.

Response:

The customer had called us twice prior to coming in with questions on pricing, we explained both times her scooter would require 2 (two), es12, 12 volt batteries at a cost of $79.95 a battery (each). When the customer came in for the two batteries she had brought along her battery enclosure (the case that holds the two batteries) which seemed to be pretty beat up, to have us install the batteries. The customer had made it a point to let us know she had previously dropped the case. We then let her know that without the scooter present we had no way to verify the working of the scooter with the new batteries. With that being said, that wasn't the issue, The issue was when we told her that her Cost would be $159.90 + tax. She seemed to get a little mad and told us her husband would be furious at the price. explained I had given her the price already but she didn't seem to understand the $79.95 x 2. I gave her the option of not buying the batteries, but she said she needed them for her trip. I installed the batteries as she asked, note this is part of what we do every day. I then received a call days into their trip saying the scooter had stopped working and they didn't know why. They had realized they had blown a fuse usually caused by overloading the scooter or maybe even a cracked battery enclosure but we said if they would bring it back would look at it for them to see if we could help. The next time the husband called, he said he took it to a certified battery specialist (I am not sure what that is. The specialist said I had installed the batteries wrong, which is pretty much impossible. Then the next time they called, the story changed and I put the cover on backwards. Again didn't think possible but we again offered to fix any problem they might have. The next time we heard from them they came into the store and demanded a refund from the girl behind the counter, they were verbally abusive and demanding of her for which she didn't have the ability to do.Being in business for almost 30 years we know when a Sale could turn into a situation So we kept their sales receipt aside just in case. When a customer says her husband is going to be furious and does something anyway we foresee a problem from the beginning. We are not going to let them borrow a new set of batteries for a trip and then return them when theyre back. For the record, they are MK gel batteries top of the line.
