Easy Moves Reviews (1)

Review: My husband and I hired Easy Moves to move our furniture and household possessions from our home in [redacted], PA to our new home in [redacted] PA. After the crew left our house on Thursday afternoon, October 4, 2012, our neighbor went over to make sure everything was all right. This is what she found:

The front door was ajar.

All the lights in the house were on.

Debris was scattered all over the house.

There was a puddle of some liquid in the middle of the kitchen floor.

We returned to the house on Saturday, October 6 and were dismayed by the mess that was left behind. We completely filled our Quest van with items that should have been moved. We returned to the house again on Sunday and again filled our van to finish removing everything that should have been moved by the crew, and we finished cleaning up after them. The house was supposed to have been "broom swept" by the moving crew.

We filled three 39-gallon trash bags with wrapping and packing materials that were left behind, as well as personal items they left, including food and beverages and the containers they had been in.

We spent hours cleaning the floors of debris and dirt.

A glass shade and the bulb were missing from an Ottlite floor lamp. When my husband asked about it, he was told they were in a box. When we didn’t find them, and I asked about them, a crew member admitted that he had broken them. The bulbs cost $25 each on sale at half price; we believe the lamp is no longer available and don't know if a replacement shade can be obtained.

They must have run over our recycling bin because it was smashed.

One of the legs of my sewing table is damaged, and the Formica top is chipped on one corner.

A plastic waste paper can was broken because too much was stuffed into it, and we never did find a small swing-top trash can.

A case for holding compact discs was broken.

The sign I had specifically asked to be removed from beside the front door was left in place.

Our concrete driveway was damaged in about six places with chunks of concrete gouged out and the epoxy finish destroyed in those areas. We believe they dropped the freezer on it.

They complained about the weight of the freezer. I had specifically asked the company owner how he would handle transporting our frozen food, and he said we could just lock the freezer and leave the food in it. The freezer is scratched and dented, and the handle was broken off, although a crew member did make an effort to repair it. The triangular corner piece that covers the screws that attach the door to the freezer was knocked off and left behind, and if my husband's brother hadn’t known what it was, we would have thrown it away. We had a refrigerator/freezer in place in our cottage and we could have moved a lot of the frozen food in ice chests to lessen the weight of the freezer if the owner had asked that we do so.

After the furniture was delivered to our new home, the crew did not replace the mirror on the dresser in the master bedroom, and we still have not found the screws.

A leaf on our dining room table was scratched and we found a cut in a previously undamaged leather recliner.

Accidents can and do happen, but we believe most of the incidents described above were the result of carelessness and inattention to detail.

I sent a detailed accounting of this complaint by certified mail to Easy Moves on October 16, 2012, and we have received no response.Desired Settlement: I think it would be appropriate for [redacted] to acknowledge our dissatisfaction and to reimburse us for the cost of replacing the broken Ottlite and to pay for repairing the driveway. Other people who are considering hiring Easy Moves should have an opportunity to know that the quality of the service that company provides may not be what they expect.

Response:

I wanted to start out by saying that we went above and beyond with this client. I did not know that [redacted] had any problem with this move until 2 weeks later when I received a Certified Letter from them. I read their letter and did not respond to it because they indicated that they had sent a copy to their Attorney and also her complaints were without merit. Our Crew did a cleanout of her home prior to her move. We packed up unwanted items to take to auctions. When they arrived the morning of September 27, 2012, [redacted] made a comment to one of our men ([redacted]) on how ugly he looked. He said nothing to her but he did walk outside and he called me. He ask if I could replace him with another crew member however it was too late to do so and he agreed to finish the cleanout for the [redacted]. We were scheduled to do the move for them on October 4, 2012. [redacted] indicated to me that they would do all of the packing for the move. I called her the night before and she told me that she had a little packing to do yet but she would have it done by the time our crew got there in the morning to do the move. Our crew including [redacted] arrived that morning and [redacted] had our crew wait outside for 45 minutes while they caught their cats to put them in carriers. After waiting for 45minutes [redacted] offered to help them catch the cats and place them into the carriers which he did. [redacted] our other mover assembled a platform in their van to put the cat carriers on and then he and [redacted] put the cats in the van for [redacted]; [redacted]. [redacted] then indicated that they had to leave and get the cats down to their new home, however, before she left she showed [redacted] and [redacted] items that she wanted to stay in the house and not be moved to their new place. She pointed out items that were going to neighbors, the new owners, cleaning items that they wanted left there because they would be coming back up to clean before the house was turned over to the new owners also boxes and packing materials that belonged to [redacted]; [redacted] that she was going to use later to transport cleanihng materials etc. that we were to leave. Then [redacted]; [redacted] left. After they had gone [redacted] called me and informed me that nothing had been packed by [redacted]; [redacted]. I drove over to their house and saw that [redacted]; [redacted] had not done any packing as they told me that they had done. So we had to scramble to get another employee there to help with the packing and we also had to go to our facility to get packing materials sufficient to pack their entire house. My crew ended up putting in 12 hours that day when had [redacted]; [redacted] done the packing, the move would have been accomplished in half that time. I gave them a break by just charging them for the hours that it took my crew to pack, move and unpack their items. I did not chage them for the packing materials as I normally do with moves that involve packing. What [redacted]; [redacted] are not aware of is that I went up to the house once our crew had finished loading the truck. I did a walk through to make sure that all items that we were contracted to move were in our truck ready for transport. I also made sure that all lights were off and that the door was secure when we left. [redacted] also made a complaint to the Public Utility Commission, they are our regulatory agency, they also found that their claim is without merit. We have been in the relocation business for 14 years and have done literally hundreds of moves and we have an excellent reputation with the community. Had we found that any of their complaints had merit, we would have taken steps to resolve the situation. It is not our policy to have unhappy clients. [redacted], owner - Easy Moves.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Wykoff

& Co. would know about lies; the lot of them are pathological liars. They

would know all about how to twist words around to suit themselves; they've been doing it since this nightmare started. We had not

sold the property before we moved, and Wykoff & Co. damaged the driveway

while we still owned the property so it was our property when they damaged it.

I can certainly document the date of the sale of the property, which was

December 4, 2012. Reasonable, responsible, reputable, honest people would have made

every effort to resolve this matter when they received my letter detailing our

complaint, even if only to deny any wrongdoing. I contacted our State

Representative ONLY because the PUC had not responded to our complaint. I did

not call him to reiterate my complaint against Wykoff & Co. or to ask him

to intercede with them. If Wykoff & Co. want to accuse us of slander and go

to court, let them bring it on because they’re the ones doing the slandering

and the resulting publicity will not be to their benefit and it won’t hurt us

one bit.
