Review: On 7 June (Fri) at 8:50am, I called regarding information as to Ebbetts Sporting Goods warranting a St. Croix fly rod I had purchased in Sept 2012 or information as to the manufacturer's warranty. I stated my name and asked to speak with Mr. [redacted] who was unavailable at the time. The female clerk I spoke with stated they did not warranty anything over a year. I stated I have my receipt from Sept 2012.
I attempted to explain I was a senior, had no idea re: computers and if she would possibly give me info on the St. Croix Co. Clerk was extremely arrogant and nasty. I stated I'd spent over $250.00 there, I just wanted info. She dismissed me and hung up.Desired Settlement: An answer! Is this how Ebbetts Pass treats older people, 3x combat veteran, a member of Trouts Unlimited, Delta Fly Fishers and returned union members? All of who I notified of my treatment with clerk at Ebbetts.

Business' Initial Response
An answer was given over the phone by my wife who was under the impression that the rod was purchased over a year ago and broken and then the customer said it was from September 2012, which doesn't change our return policy. She advised our store policy of 30 days on a credit card for resaleable merchandise, which is posted on the wall as you walk in our store. Customer was advised that St. Croix would possibly have a warranty and she did not know the address. Customer got huffy and demanding on the phone and said he did not have a computer, which doesn't have anything to do with us. If warranty is applicable on our rods in our store, manufacturer cards are attached to the rod for the consumer to fill out and send in. He was told he could try 800 information and St. Croix might have a 800 number. We were unable over the phone to tell his age, or how being a veteran changes anything in this dispute. We are very patriotic people. And the fact he spent over $250 is appreciated, but treatening my wife and being condecending to her was wrong. We treat a customer that spends $3 the same as $100. My wife got off the phone conversation shaking that this man was so demanding and telling her how the business should be run. We are sorry he did not understand or like the information he was given, but Fridays and Saturdays are extremely busy to stay on the phone and not help the customers that are at the register in front of her. My wife and I are partners in business and life. We are strictly a mom and pop store nothing more nothing less.
