I am trustee for my sister who is developmentally disabled and in a fixed income. In May 2012 she had wrist surgery and was issued a foam wrist brace product from Biomet. We paid the bill then. In July of 2012 she was billed for a second wrist brace which she never received. She was only given the one at the time of surgery. I contacted Biomet in August 2012 and sent them the proof from our bank that it had been paid. They continued to send us a bill every 3 months. In April 2013 I contacted them again and asked for a statement. They've refused. They continue to bill us and are threatening collection for $5.95. Now that may seem like a small amount. But having done my research of this company, I've discovered they are be sued for securities fraud and found similar complaints for overcharging or duplicating bills to customers. And it begs the question, even though it is a small amount, how many other unsuspecting people on fixed incomes, are they doing this too?
