Customer service? You mean custumer no-service!
On September 20, 2021 EBMS, for no reason, cancelled my wife's and my prescription drug coverage. I learned this on September 28 when I tried to pick up my wife's antidepressant. When I called I was told that it was a mistake that would be corrected within 24 hours. 24 hours later there was still no prescription drug coverage. Once again I was told that it would be restored within 24 hours. On the morning of October 1 there was still no coverage and I called them for the third time, I was assured that our coverage would be restored within the day. At about noon I was called and told that prescription drug coverage had been restored. After work I went to the pharmacy and my wife still did not have prescription drug coverage. Their response that time was, "We'll get it restored as soon as possible." As of today, October 3, she still does not have coverage. I wish zero stars was an option.

Horrible for providers as well. Unscrupulous. Just awful.
I'm a psychologist in private practice and, as a courtesy to my clients who have EBMS, I have been dealing with them on my clients' behalf even though EBMS is out-of-network for me, and my clients sign an agreement stating that they will deal with entities I'm not contracted with. They are horrible. They have never returned a call. They bully me session by session to accept an unreasonably low fee. With each session (and they are two months behind), I receive a FAX offering the number I negotiated for ONLY one session. I have been given one-day turn-around times, after which they will void the agreement. Thus far they have not reimbursed the agreed-upon amount, instead picking a random, low number. I have put in calls to no avail. I expect that they know that I cannot deal with them for extensive periods of time without it costing me more to pursue than to write off. They have also sent me multiple FAXes with HIPAA-protected information that is meant for other providers. As a courtesy, I look up the provider and call for their billing number. When I get home at night, I send on these FAXes in the hopes that these folks can be paid. Simply unscrupulous.

Refusing to pay for pretty much everything
January of 2020, the company my husband works for changed to EBMS because it was cheaper than BCBS. Here we are 19 months later and I am paying monthly payments on $3500(current balance) EBMS has refused to pay (including stitches, vaccinations, well child visits, and more). We have already paid out $1500 for an echocardiogram because they only paid about $400 and I have been making monthly payments for several months on the above that they didn’t pay for. With this company, forget the $30/$50 copays because anything they do during that visit, you will be paying for.

ABSOLUTE WORST INSURANCE EVER! It may be cheaper but you will pay out the wazoo for things they refuse to pay for!

Worst Insurance Carrier!
I have been in corporate job for over 30 years with other carriers. I move to my spouses insurance through EBMS and they look for every reason not to pay a claim and every claim requires a 30 minute call to 800 numbers and not just one but multiple to resolve. Terrible customer experience!

Bad Insurance company
My husband and, I had this insurance through his job they faithfully took eight hundred dollars biweekly for our insurance, my husband had a vehicle accident in which we had no medical coverage, because insurance company never asked us did we want to put medical coverage on vehicle and the fault was not of my spouse but on someone else, this company been giving us run around for almost two years their legal department is on BS and bills have damaged my spouse credit and still not paid. I feel if this company needs to be investigated they are only out for money. They got paid faithfully but why bills and a lien is against my spouse at this time, refund us all our $800 and we can pay bills ourselves will be going to BBB and even news media next, this is ridiculous. Where is the government now? These third party insurance companies want a high payment but who gives you the right to deny what will get paid. They need a zero star rating!

ERISA Violations
Trying to exclude specialty medications as a tier in New York State. Refusing to honor the health plans rules. These guys are deceptive and criminal. I am amazed that they have not been sanctioned by the Department Of Labor.

I will be contacting them next and I agree

Worst insurance ever
They basically reject every claim they possibly can. They require way more forms for “medical necessity” than my other previous insurance companies. Then they still try to deny the claim. High out of pocket costs. It’s pretty sad when people’s health is on the line. I have one friend at my job who is considering finding another job solely for getting better health insurance.

I have EBMS through my work. I just found out, the plan I have DO NOT cover any kind of birth control. My pharmacy plan ( separate company) only covers the pill. Which due to medical reasons I cannot use. The thing that really stinks is that the Affordable Care Act cover other options of birth control, but because my plan was grandfather in, they don't have to meet the guidelines of the law. Another big thing my plan doesn't cover is physicals!

One of the WORST, most unprofessional and unethical businesses with which I have ever had dealings. The problems start at the top with the executives.

These people reject everything if provided in hardcopy receipt form - Even if you call them and ask if it is covered under insurance they reject the insurance claims and then reject coverage under an FSA. The plan we have is outstanding and these people need to be avoided. Go electronic submittal only or be prepared to be rejected..... An FSA is great if you do it electronically but will just be a waste of money if you have to do it in hardcopy format....
