Eclipse Fencing & Decks Reviews (3)

I do not often take the time to do this sort of thing, but today I think it is appropriate that I share with anyone who reads this how absolutely happy I am with the service I received and the quality of work done. I had a new fence put up around my yard. They work fast and professionally, there was great communication and I will refer friends and family to them. I found every part of the experience from beginning to end to go smoothly, even the price was affordable. I will have Justin and his crew come back to do some landscaping for me soon. Thank you!!! For making me a happy customer. Word travels fast when your this good and I wish Eclipse continued success in there business.

Complaint5 year old chain link fence is crooked & unstable. Five years ago we had [redacted] from Eclipse Fencing erect a chain link fence in our back yard. When discussing the project with [redacted], I indicated we planned to install privacy slats in the fence. [redacted] told me he could supply the privacy slats or that the price would be the same if I picked them up myself at [redacted], which I did. When I came home from work Eclipse was finishing up the chain link fence. I asked why the posts were so far apart. I was told the fence was built to "Residential Specs". This was the first time I had heard this statement. All of neighbors around me had previously installed chain link fences, therefore I had something to compare to, and I thought I would be getting the same as they have. The fence on my property has the fence posts 10' & 11' feet apart with small diameter posts. All my neighbors have posts 7' to 8' apart with larger diameter posts. The bottom support wire on my fence was just wrapped around the posts, whenever the wind blew the middle of the fence sections would flex approximately 1' in the wind. My neighbors fences have this wire tightened with turnbuckles. I went out and bought and installed turnbuckles on my own to help strengthen the fence. August 5, 2015 I phoned [redacted] from Eclipse fencing and told him of my concerns with the crooked unstable fence that I have. He asked me if I had privacy slats, I said yes. He said with privacy slats and the wind gusts we have been having that this is normal to happen to a fence. [redacted]. [redacted] said there was nothing he could do about it, he would not even come out and have a look at the fence. [redacted]Desired SettlementI feel there should be more posts installed, the posts should be of a lager diameter and they should be sunk into the ground to a further depth than the small diameter posts. The wire itself should also be tightened up.Business Response [redacted]The fence was done over 5 years ago, we offer one year warranty, in this case the call was because of a leaning fence do to a wind storm we just had a few days prior, winds at 92-93kms gusts, plus this fence has privacy slats that catch wind like crazy and can bend the poles. After this wind storm we got multiple calls from all types of fences that got blown over, ones that's weren't even ours, this becomes a insurance claim like I explained to the gentleman. Mother nature is something that we can't help and different yards get more winds than others. Most of the company's in the city do a basic 10ft between each section even the city when they hire us there own specs are 10ft for chain link and wood is 8ft, anyways this persons fence is an insurance claim and I have a pic of the weather from when this happened.[redacted]Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The current condition of my fence is not the result of a few wind gusts. We wanted a good chain link fence because of the longevity and maintenance free properties of chain link when properly erected. When [redacted] quoted the job he knew we were going to install privacy slats, he told us where to buy slats. He did not give us an option of any quality levels of fences that were available to us. After the job was completed and I asked,"why so few posts",he said it was built to "RESIDENTIAL SPECS", a phrase that we hadn't heard before.Just like anything cheaply built, it looks good for a few years and then there are issues, as is the case with our fence. I have neighbours' on each side of me and 4 houses across the alley that have chain link fences. I went and measured post space distances on these other fences, the house north of me has a 5' high fence, these posts are 8' apart. The house south of me and 4 houses across the alley have 6' high fences with posts 5' to 8' apart. all these fences have had privacy slats from new. My fence 6' high with privacy slats, posts are of small diameter and are placed 10' to 11' apart. My neighbours don't have what [redacted] calls wind gust damage to their fences. The well built fences that my neighbours have is what I thought I was getting from [redacted].Instead I got "RESIDENTIAL SPECS". None of my neighbours ever heard of "RESIDENTIAL SPECS" either.[redacted] knew we were installing privacy slats when he quoted the job, and for whatever reason he decided to go with less than minimal standards on the infrastructure of the fence. If my fence had been built to the standards of the fences around me, we would not now have these issues now.[redacted]
