Review: On February 14th, I purchased a 2003 Hyundai Elantra at Econo Auto with 117,xxx miles. It came with a 30 day/1,000 mile warranty in which any costs for repairs would be split 50/50 with the seller.

After just reaching the 1,000 mile point the car began to break down. The engine would rev and surge erratically, while stopped or while in motion. It became increasingly difficult to control the car and very unsafe to drive. The condition of the car continued to deteriorate rapidly. It would lurch forward, stall repeatedly, refuse to turn over, and then surge again. I was terrified to drive it and could barely get my car to the mechanic 2 miles away.

After multiple visits to the mechanic and a loss of use of the car for almost two weeks, the car came away with a fuel induction, new timing belt kit, and a new alternator. The total cost for these repairs was $1650.00. Just two weeks later, I went out to my car and it refused to start or turn over. It was towed to another repair shop and had to have a new fuel pump and starter installed. The cost for those repairs was $1130.95.

This car has begun I act up again, with the engine intermittently revving/surging. It is unsafe to drive. It originally cost $4,145.00. One more repair and I will have bought it twice, and will have zero working cars. I am unable to sell it to anyone because it is a complete lemon.Desired Settlement: I wish to return this car to the seller for a complete refund of $4,145.00. If it is possible to recoup any of the $2,780.00 I had to spend on repairs just to keep te car running, that woul be wonderful.

I do not wish to trade for another car at his lot, because I do not trust him or his automobiles. I will take my business elsewhere.
