Review: I visited this hotel 9/** only to leave no more than 10 minutes later. The room looked like the beds had just been made without washing and someone sprayed some sort of freshner, but not the type to really purify the air. It smelled kind of like what an empty can smells like when you keep pressing the spray button. A headache smell. The bathroom had gooey black stuff on the wall and mirror. It looked like a collection of water dust and hair from being wiped once or twice. Whoever cleaned it didn't actually wipe everything off, just side to side if that makes any sense. There were stains on the pillow to the far left of the room... stains that could have been easily washed off. If they were permanent stains like marker or something, Id give them a pass but this looked like caked on Barbeque. I went back downstairs immediately to get a refund. He had a paper on the wall that stated "no refunds" (handwritten with exclamation marks,) however; considering it was within 10 minutes, I felt that he may make an exception due to the visibly unexceptional room. Though he gave me the worst attitude i've seen from any service i've come in contact with, and was arguing with me out the door, he did accept giving me a refund. He gave me receipt of the supposed refund as well. As of 10/**, I have yet to receive the refund. I did not contact him again due to the way he was speaking to me as I was leaving (which I didn't appreciate because I didn't raise my voice.) He is unapproachable and abrasive and someone needs to rethink his position in the company.Desired Settlement: Considering I have already contacted my bank (who thinks this situation is ridiculous as well) and they are in process of disputing that charge- I would like some sort of Store Credit. As a first time visitor of Econo, that was an unpleasant experience, with very unpleasant customer service. I get that he is in [redacted] NY and he deals with crazy things daily, but that is not my issue- nor is it an issue I am okay dealing with. In addition to this, as a company, they need to look into hiring janitorial help. He looks like he maintains the whole place himself (which may explain his grumpiness.) I am sure that Econo by Choice Hotels does not want this experience to deter a frequent traveler from their hotels in general.

At this time, I have not been contacted by Econo Lodge (NY220) regarding complaint ID [redacted]. Additionally, I saw no other way to contact you at the time but the charged me a second time out of no where and I am not even in the same state. I can provide bank statements if needed. This issue caused a check I had written to bounce.
