We stayed at Econo Lodge (my wife, two kids and I) back on September 6-8 2018. I reserved online through booking.com and we paid for our stay when we checked out, with a debit card. The total was $403.65 and we saw that charge pending on our account. Two days after check out there was the original plus another $380 from Econo pending on our account. I immediately called and complained. The kind lady at the hotel informed me to not be alarmed and the $380 was not going to be charged. Sure enough, the next day the $380 was no longer pending and removed (not from our account) and the $403.65 was still pending. Within that week, the charge went from pending to transaction completed, to which I thought was the end and all receipts from our trip including the hotel were thrown away once all were completed. On February 7, 2019 we were charged $403.65 from this Econo and would not notice until February 8, when out card was declined when buying medicine for our sick son. We were negative $130 in our account and alarmed. After many contacts with the hotel, customer care for Choice Hotels and our bank, we heard several different stories that never lined up. We were eventually told by hotel management that their computer system was "updating" that day and people who stayed during the month of September would be charged in February. If this were the case, I would have liked to have known that my payment was never received, although I saw it charged on my end and received receipt upon payment at the hotel. I do not understand why I was never contacted about a payment from 5 months ago, and without warning, stripped of over $400 that caused us much more in overdraft fees and many other issues. This was not fair to me or my wife and kids. We would have been happy to look into the issue and resolve payment if necessary. We were very respectful and appreciative to the property and staff and were looking forward to another future stay. We want this issue resolved and a reasonable explanation for our trouble.

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like to be refunded the full $403.65 If payment was not received the first time, I feel that is a problem with hotel operations and should have been noticed and informed to me as soon as possible. Waiting 5 months and then applying a charge to my account without warning almost feels like we were stolen from. This has put us through a lot of financial trouble as we were not prepared for this.

Kindly review the attachment which shows that hotel has only charged one time. Guest reserved through Booking.com and total was 403.65 which hotel has authorized when guest checked in. Due to some interference in Shift 4 (Merchant processing company) September batch submitted late in February hence the guest account is showing that charge withdrawn in February instead September. we do apologize for this inconvenience and understand the issue from guest side but If we have charged twice than we can refund them to the guest or reimburse the guest. We have confirmed with guest bank that there is no charge remains on their September statement. Again please review attached documents which shows trabnsaction date was in september and batch submission date is February 6, 2019. We do apologize but this is first time happen and we have confirmed to make sure guest account has not charged twice. we have humble request to guest that keep this documents for their reference and if any other activity they see than please notify us and we can help them to resolve. We would also like to guest know that we do no have any payment information here at hotel so we want assure the guest that they will not experience this kind of activity on their account anymore. I too have cleared with my bank that I was not charged twice on my account. I understand that no payment was not received from our stay and that this was a back charge. Yes it was a major inconvenience and yes it put us through a lot of trouble. I would advise just for future reference that something is done to avoid this same issue occuring to another customer. As said before, I would have been happy to pay an account that I owed on, but the method to which we were charged was poor business. We should have been contacted before hand to be informed of any dues owed. I no longer wish to be refunded. I do just want it to be known that we are heavily displeased over how the charge was handled. Thank you for your response.

Called on July 20, 2018. Spoke to *** Told her my card was charged after I canceled my reservation.. I booked with *** with a pay at site and free cancellation. I was told to call bookings. They spoke to *** and I was told I would get a refund of $75.38. Called Econologde and spoke to *** and she confirmed I would get the refund in three to five business days. Have not received my refund. Can't get a straight answer as to why and what is going on.

I don't accept the response because I was promised a refund by both bookings and econo lodge. Bookings realized they booked me wrong and talked to Sherry at Econologde and told them to give me a refund. I'm still waiting for my refund as promised. I want a refund.
