Initial Business Response /* ([redacted]0, 11, 2016/02/16) */
In response to this case as per our telephone conversation last week.
[redacted] entered into a contract agreement which was signed by both parties. A scope of work was given prior to contract with what services to be...

provided.
This is work which originally stemmed from ice damming issues which was identified by their insurance company and the preferred vendor the insurance company sent out to look at originally.
During this process the [redacted] thought of doing a kitchen renovation and flooring lightly at the same time.
The insurance company already has a set claim amount for the property.
The insurance company does not require our invoicing to adjust their claim. The insurance company has already set the claim amount.
There have been many e mails back and forth to make any adjustment to the contract amount as per the [redacted] request and our allowance adjustments.
Anything that was not done was adjusted.
I spoke with [redacted] on the phone and I explained that we don't provide a full discloser of our cost of goods for the job. She said that I know you have to make a profit I don't need to see that.
She needed a break down of what would be insurance vs homeowner. I provided a percentage value as per her request. Again the insurance company has their own claim around not one were providing.
[redacted] then sent an excel spread sheet of a breakdown of everything.
Her statement with regards to a full breakdown for a contractor to bid on the work.
I have provided copies of the e mail correspondence.
We have met every request with respect to our scope of work and contract. There is nothing with respect to breakdown. This is not a standard business practice for any business. It's like going to Sobeys's going to the check out with your groceries, get them all totaled up but before you get paid the customer says I want to know how much the groceries cost where you get them and how much it cost for delivery before I pay you!
The work has been done, satisfaction as per there expectations. Contract signed back in August 2015. [redacted] we pride ourselves on quality of work we provide to all our customers new and repeat. We have a very excellent business reputation in our profession. We have met our obligation with the [redacted] The [redacted] had Home Depot in for the other part of their renovations.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 13, 2016/02/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Econo is correct. The current issue is not related to the insurance claim. The breakdown of charges to me by Econo is to ensure that I was only billed for work actually performed and that the credits were proportional to the original charges. The original final invoice did not include a credit for the roof portion not done. My husband sent them a photo of the roof and an adjustment of [redacted] + HST was granted. I do not believe that credit was in proportion to the original bill. As Econo is not willing to discuss this, I have no assurance that this is a reasonable allowance.
I provided pot lights for the electrical upgrade. No communication to indicate that there was a reduction for the potlight supply was communicated.
Econo did provide some information on the electrical and plumbing portion. That was helpful, but it raised another question. With the electrical and plumbing costs identified, the charges for the remaining work (cabinet removal, gyproc repair and dormer/roof repair) look inordinately large.
Econo thinks that it is okay to grant a credit and further charges (electrical) without discussion, explanation or agreement. The contract does not specify how credits and further charges would be calculated. I would expect this to be done on a proportional basis without a method being expressly agreed upon.
Econo has chosen to send the invoice for collection (at significant cost to them) rather than respond to my request for an exchange of information or even taking me to court (a $[redacted] cost) to get paid.

Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 21, 2016/03/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have a receipt from the collection agency dated Feb 25th # [redacted] for the full amount. [redacted]
Final Business Response /* (4000, 19, 2016/03/10) */
Hi,
We have not heard anything from the customer regarding this issue. As they stated on their last note they will be paying the bill in full and we have not received any payments at this point.

Thanks,
[redacted]
