Have had there pool system for 2 yrs and it is perfect

I have been a Ecosmarte user since 2003 on my in ground pool and also on my well water and could not be more pleased. I get my pool set up in the spring and it is virtually maintains its self. I use their programable system which as injects CO2 for PH control. I will be closing my pool shortly and have had no algae or cloudiness all season. As far as my well goes I live in a area with high iron and also iron bacteria. Prior to installing Ecosmarte we had constant staining of toilets, tubs and showers. Since installing the staining has disappeared and our water is crystal clear. Wash and dishes look better. We recently purchased a home in Florida and are converting the pool over to Ecosmarte and installing a Ecosmarte city water whole house system. The city water is rather hard and we do not want to add excess sodium that water softener would.

If I could give this rotten company zero stars I would have. I paid over $5,000 for their system in March of 2017. In about three months my house started smelling like rotten eggs, really badly. I contacted the company and they told me it was not related to their system and that I would have to shock my well with Chlorine to make the smell go away. I called 4 different experts to my home and every single one had the same opinion. Each company tested my water both before and after Ecosmarte's well water system. All four companies reached the same conclusion. The Ecosmarte system was not filtering out the Hydrogen Sulfide. I called the company with these results and now they blamed it on my brand new well pump (which I had installed the same day as their system). They now said it was because I was not getting the proper GPM (Gallon's per minute). I then paid for a well company to come to the house and test it. I watched over 15 gallons pour into 3 home depot buckets in about 50 seconds, so this is NOT the problem.
After confronting them with this, they decided to send me Greensand and new Carbon to re-bed their system with. I paid another $400 to have this done. I did research on Greensand and the only way it can be backwashed is with Chlorine!!! I asked Ben this with Ecosmarte and never got a reply. Now my house is stinking with rotten egg smell AGAIN and I confronted them yet again with this problem. They told me today, October 17th, 2017 that they would not refund my money. I'm now hiring an attorney and will be suing them in court. This company has horrible communication and rotten customer service and most importantly, they do not stand behind their product when their is a problem. Do not buy from this company. I have paid a local company, Pollock Well Company, $4,300 to put in a new system. This is a move I should have made sooner.
As a small business owner, I understand when companies just can't get it right. When this happens, you refund that customer their money and move on. My cell number is ***. Feel free to call me on this number and I will share this information with you. I don't want anybody else to get "hosed" like I did.

ECOsmarte Planet Friendly Response

We have had many emails back and forth with Mr.. We have made several suggestions to Mr. on his rotten egg odor in the house, which were all met with an argument and have never been done. The system was working fine for 3 months which suggests we can successfully treat the water unless there is a mechanical issue. In Mr. early emails we were only getting 7 gallons per minute flow to the system according to his own test results. What he is now claiming is 18 gallons per minute minimum in his current story. For the system he has, the ideal flow rate of the water would be between 10 and 15 gallons per minute. If it is too slow the regeneration process will not complete and the issues he is describing would begin to happen over time. If it is too fast, it would channel the media and also eventually begin to allow odor to pass through. The two test results we received show one too fast and one too slow.
We have suggested well chlorination, which he did not do. We suggested a holding tank with a pump to control the flow rate, which he did not do even though we found the tank for him. We have replaced the media at our expense, including shipping, with a media that works better on slower flow rates, but now supposedly have water flow that is too fast. We have also ordered and sent him special test kits to try to confirm results for hydrogen sulfide. This was all done for no charge to the customer. Our customer service has been there for him even though we were unable to get him to do the steps that needed to be done. The bottom line is we could certainly fix the issues, if we are given correct and unchanging information. It is unclear if he ever actually installed the new media we sent him. The H2S test only showed 1ppm and both medias used are capable of handling that level of H2S with proper mechanics.
On Aug. 11, Mr. claimed 7 gpm flow rate. On Sept 22 he claims 15 gpm and in this review he claims 18gpm. On sept 6 in an email he claims he doesn't know how he will ever get 10 gpm due to his above ground pump losing pressure. In this review he claims he put a new pump in at the same time he installed our system, but in emails from August, he states the well and pump are 13 years old.
He researched greensand plus as requiring chlorine for regeneration. This is not the case with our system. With the oxidation we produce the chlorine is unnecessary. These are just a few of the arguments against allowing us to help him that have occurred.
We can help him, but we will need to see a video that a 5 gallon bucket can fill in 28-30 seconds and that his pressure will hold for 10 minutes. Without this, no media or system will make it more than couple of months. Emails between Mr. and Ecosmarte are available upon request to show the exchanges.

Customer Response

Obviously whoever responded to the email doesn't understand how the information exchange occurred between Ben, Mike and myself. Yes I originally reported to you that I was getting 7 GPM, which you said was a problem. I was testing this at the water spicket, not at the well head. I paid a well company to come to the house several weeks later and test the GPM coming right out of the top of my above ground pump. We filled 3 home depot buckets within about 50 seconds, so this totaled 15 gallons. I thought this was why your system was not working, not enough GPM (and you said the same thing). Now that I'm actually getting a little over 15 GPM, you have no answer as to why your system would not work.
As far as the holding tank, yes that was your idea, and yes you said you "located one". 3 1/2 weeks later, still no holding tank. BUT THE MAIN REASON YOU SAID I NEEDED A HOLDING TANK WAS BECAUSE I WAS NOT GETTING THE PROPER GPM. I TOLD YOU I WAS GETTING AT LEAST 15 GPM AND ALL YOU COULD COME UP WITH IS SENDING ME GREENSAND??? You are a pathetic company and took advantage of me and my family!!!
I had this system installed by a Florida State licensed plumber, and yes, I told you that the well was not a new well. BUT I ALSO TOLD YOU THAT I HAD A NEW PUMP INSTALLED THE SAME DAY THE SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED!
As a small business owner myself, I'm amazed at the length your going to not just refund me my money. YOUR SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK! I will continue posting my reviews and sharing my story. Evidently you don't communicate with your staff and know the whole story, but the WORLD sure will.
