Review: HORRIBLE SERVICE! I had them come out to do normal pest control service and clean cobwebs from the eves. When they came out they did a crappie job of removing the cobwebs, half were still there and not even touched. A week later I still had bugs like nothing was even done. I called them back again, and it is hard to get ahold of anyone, they finally called me back a few days later, but couldnt come out for another 2 weeks. When they finally did come out, it was another bad job. I called and canceled service saying that your service has not helped at all. Then 6 months goes by and I get a call from them saying that I owe them money for service. I said I paid you when you came out the first time, and I canceled service. They claimed that they came to my house 4 times and I said no you didnt. I asked for exact dates. When they contacted me again, it was 3 dates. The last date they are trying to charge me for was saying that he met with me and my wife, but those dates we were out of town, and Ecotech never came to the house. So now they have a collections company coming after me for service they never performed, especially when I paid them for service that sucked and did not get. Serious con people. Stay away and use some professional, not a 2 man brother operation.Desired Settlement: I paid for initial service which was useless and didn't help. Now they are trying to charge me for a service call that they never made. They gave me the date he claims he came to the house and spoke with both my wife and I, which was impossible as we were out of town. The first time they came, he gave me an invoice and I paid right then. If did come out why didn't he charge before the service like last time. Also why did he wait 6 months before saying I owed them money.

Response:

EcoTech Pest Management Inc has been a business since early in 2010. Since the beginning this company has employed three staff members and now employs seven staff members. As Office Manager I can assure you that all calls to our office number are answered and followed up on as quickly as possible. Every call is either a current loyal customer or a potential new customer. The statement by this customer that we are a two person company is simply inaccurate. The first service for this particular account was on July 11, 2013. This customer had requested ongoing service. As with all new customers, this customer signed our standard contract. The contract provides permission to treat pests on the customers property and informs the customer of our service guarantee and that the customer must send a written notice 30 days prior to ending their contracted service. Our second regular service was performed on August 6, 2013. I call each customer one day prior to service to insure that they will be at home or if not at home leave any gates unlocked or pets inside to allow our technicians access to all necessary areas of the property. I also leave a phone number for the customer to call us back if they wish to change the date or time of the service appointment. So, on August 5, 2013 this customer was called and did not indicate to us that they did not wish us to provide service on August 6. The third service was scheduled for October 9, 2013. It was during the call before service that this customer stated that he did not wish to continue service, but no written notice has ever been received from this customer, so basically this customer has not technically cancelled service. Unfortunately the customer had not paid the $65.00 for the service that he received on August 6. It is customary for many of our customers to pay at the next service even when the next service is two or three months out. We do not hound them for payment during this time. Our customers are trustworthy and fair. Several phone calls were made and letters sent to remind this customer that there was a balance due on his account. We rarely send customers to collections because they usually settle up with us when they are financially able. In 4 years only 1 other customer has refused to pay and gone to collections, and that customer paid at the first call from the collections agency. As for this customer’s complaint, we are sorry that this customer feels he did not get the service he expected. This customer complained about the webbing of the home. We provide webbing as an aid in spider control. It is not a housekeeping service. We are not simply cleaning off the home. We are very active in the pest control industry and know many of the other owners. We are actually much more comprehensive when we sweep the webs than any of our competitors in the area. Common practice in the industry is 1st story eves only. We sweep the webs from the 1st and 2nd story eves, doorways, windows, hose bibs, lights, and garages inside and out. Once again we are not a housekeeping service so if a web or two is missed a simple call to us and we would come out to retreat and remove additional webs at no extra charge. With our guarantee there should be no reason to hesitate in calling when a retreat is needed because there is no additional cost for the retreat service. Our business runs purely on a referral basis. We do not do any advertising and take customer complaints very seriously. We are in the top 2 companies on Angie’s List which is a review based list and we have won the Super Service Award on Angie’s List every year since opening the business. We could not achieve this with Angie’s List if we did not care about the customer and their concerns. We strive to make every customer happy even on the rare occasion when that may not be possible. This customer owes us $65.00 for 1 service, which is hardly an amount to “scam” a customer over and possibly damage our reputation. In fact it is not possible to believe that we are “scamming” a customer when we have received no money for the service. This customer received the service without paying for it. It may be interesting to note that during my last phone call about the outstanding balance this customer threatened to destroy us through social networking if we continued to request payment on the outstanding balance. And, I understand that he is now stating that we did not provide the service. Again, we are saddened that a customer is unhappy with their service. We would have rectified it had we been given the opportunity.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

To summarize what EcoTech stated for visits:

7/11/2013 – 1st Service

8/6/2013 – 2nd Service

10/9/2013 – 3rd Service was scheduled, but not performed

because service was canceled

This information is accurate, and is the first time they have stated

the truth. But here is where the issue

begins. 1st Service was performed

and paid on 7/11/2013. EcoTech claims to

have a “Service Guarantee”, and that they perform bi-monthly service. I had the first service performed, and I

called to say that nothing has changed in my insect problem, and that the

spider webs were barely touched/removed.

So they came out 3 weeks later (not earlier because their schedule was

full) on 8/6/2013. This service was to

be performed by their “SERVICE GUARANTEE”, and is covered by my initial payment

that was made on the 1st service.

Since they, and pretty much most pest control companies, perform

bi-monthly service, how is it that my next service performed 3 weeks later, I

have to pay for? They are trying to say

I need to pay for their “Service Guarantee” work. Which means they actually do not guarantee

anything.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

Customers who sign up for Bi-Monthly service are informed that there will be an initial service and then the first of the Bi-monthly services the following month. After that second service the services will be every two months. The service on 7/11/13 was the initial service; the service on 8/6/13 was the first of the bi-monthly services. The industry standard for pest control is to do an initial service followed by the first bi-monthly the very next month. This would be especially true when there is an insect infestation.

The service guarantee does not begin until after the second service. The reason for scheduling the second service the following month is so that the eggs that have been laid will have time to hatch and the larva, or spiderlings in this instance will be treated on that second service.

In other words, it is not possible to guarantee a spider free environment after just one service. The waiting period for maximum control for spiders is 60 days. This is the same regardless of which pest control company is doing the spider service.

Because of the many species of spiders that we have in California (over 1,100 species) it is impossible for any pest control service to guarantee “elimination” of them, however we can keep them at a very low, controlled level in about 60 days and thereafter if the customer continues regular service.

Thank you,

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

That is nice to inform me (the customer) that the service guarantee doesn't start until after you have had a few visits. I called after the 1st visit to say nothing has changed, and I don't see any dead bugs just live ones, and that the service of removing cobwebs was not completed, just in a few spots, and said that you guarantee your work to come back out again until it is resolved, and that is why you came out the 2nd time 3 weeks later. I was never informed that there was no guarantee from the first visit that the guarantee only takes effect after subsequent visits. As I have asked I would like to see this in writing where I signed stating this information.

According to your Angie's List Response on Guarantee:

"Our

service carries a guarantee. If a customer is having problems after a treatment

they can call us back out as often as they wish. We will retreat until the

problem has been solved, at no additional cost."

Except you want to charge me for coming out, so you guarantee is just a lie you tell customers.

According to you website: http://www.ecotech-pest.com/Services_9PYM.html it says nothing about only after initial treatment. This was between services because it hadn't even been a month since the 1st time you came out.

Our service includes:

Interior and exterior perimeter treatments

Turf, Landscape, and Shrubs treated

We will treat up to 30' away from structure, or to property lines if less.

Sweep spider webs from eaves, windows, doors and exterior lights

100% Guarantee for covered pests in your agreement

If covered pests enter your structure we will treat your home at no extra charge in between services.

Also I would like to know how the service costs $65 but you sent me to collections for over $100? Doesn't seem like that equals out...
