Review: My last day of class was 09/23/2015. My exit sheet was signed by all staff and I attended the traditional nursing pinning ceremony 09/25/2015. The temporary Director of Nursing paid for my nursing application and then the new Director of Nursing paid for the NCLEX exam. I did not pass the exit exam, which is being used punitively. Out of 11 students in the class only three passed the exit exam, the rest failed it. We were told to write an appeal, to appeal to be able to take the exit exam and be able to take it a second time. I wrote my appeal and it got denied by Mrs. [redacted] 10/2/2015, I wrote a second appeal 10/06/2015 to overturn that decision to Mrs. [redacted] and it was directed to Mrs. [redacted], Mrs. [redacted], and Mr. [redacted]. 10/08/2015 Mr. [redacted] contacted me by school email to call him and I did, he said he was working with Mrs. [redacted] with this second appeal. I have not heard anything. So I sent another email saying I was available by school or personal email, phone number or in person, I have not heard nothing. Out of the eight students that did not pass; two of them were able to go to class Monday through Friday for three weeks and retake the exam and if they failed it the second time they are able retake the class/clinical again and get a third chance if not they get expelled, the other four students were able to take class and clinical again and retake the exit exam but if they do not pass the exit exam a second time they are getting expelled. Also they told the students that now they are piloting the exit exam with them and if it does not work out they are going to do away with it. But I, along with one other student was expelled and got no other chance and nothing else was taken into consideration. I was told that I failed the course and since it was my fourth time I was getting expelled. I should have an incomplete as a grade and not be failed automatically, especially since the other students are getting a second chance to take the exit exam. The course I failed was a math pre-requisite, yet I was encouraged to take it again and was accepted into the nursing program with no problem. So the math pre-requisite should not be counted because it is a pre-requisite and not an actual course of the nursing program. The first failed course was because I had two different teachers; one gave me a 100% grade on my drug cards and the other teacher gave me a failing grade on my drug cards even though I did the drug cards the exact same way. The other courses I failed were medical surgical and pediatric class. I talked to the Director of Nursing at the time and she said the next step was an all-review board. At the all-review board there were four teachers and after looking at my grades and explaining myself I was allowed to come back April 2015 into the nursing program. I passed my probation period and have not failed any courses in six months since I was allowed to return into the nursing program. The all-review board also took into consideration that I was diagnosed with Anxiety and that I also was diagnosed with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder and am taking three different medicines Zoloft, Adderall, and Buspirone. Not once was I accommodated since submitting the medical documents from my doctor that say I should test in a room by myself and have time and a half on tests. So now I am left with no degree, no license and a debt I have to pay back. The inconsistencies with the exit exam are ridiculous. At first you had to get a 60% raw score on the exit exam and if you passed it or not it did not matter, then you had to get a 60% at least by the second try. Then they changed it to 70% raw score with a second try, and my class is with a 70% raw score and no second chance, yet they made exceptions for some students. I got a 62.7% raw score and a student that got [redacted] raw score got a second chance to take the exit exam and I did not. The Kaplan Instructor [redacted] says the [redacted] exit exam they have it at 60% score, and that we should have taken the Readiness Kaplan before the live review with her. They do things that are convenient for them and I feel like I don’t have an option but when I ask for a second chance I just get shut down. Mind you, this last class that the only thing I did not pass was the exit exam, we were supposed to have preceptorship we didn’t, the school schedule I did not have until the day of class and then it changes three/ four more times (like we do not have jobs and lives out of school), we had the new Director of Nursing Mrs. [redacted] teach our class because they do not have the sufficient staff, and the temporary Director of Nursing Mrs. [redacted] was teaching the pediatric class because they did not have staff to teach that class either, not once did the class start on time at 8:00am, I did not wait until I did not pass this exit exam to speak up, I voiced my concern at the beginning of class and everyone in the class signed a petition saying we wanted a second chance to take the exit exam. Also I have not signed the 2015 Nursing handbook, I signed the 2013 nursing handbook and it does not mention the exit exam holding you back from your degree or able to sit for my license. Again I do not understand why they would sign my exit sheet and let me go to pinning to tell me on Monday I am getting expelled I have passed everything and because of one test I cannot get my degree or sit for my license; these two years that I have sacrificed with my family, friends and at work, and especially my time that no one can ever give back to me, not being able to pay my bills on time, having collections call me, even though I have to jobs for nothing it is just plainly not fair. They have me waiting and I just do not appreciate it, it is enough I had to deal with it with the school schedule and now I also have to wait to get my degree that I have earned with blood, sweat and tears. I am anxious and frustrated.Desired Settlement: I want them to give me the degree I earned and for them to submit my paperwork to the board of nursing so I can sit for my NCLEX!

Review: The school has started using a predictor test to determine if you are released to take the registered nursing boards after you have completed the program and graduated and went to your nursing pinning...owe 52,000 for the program...changing policy after graduation and then dismissed me from the program just to get the va nursing boards score up...only 3 people passed the predicater out of a class of twelve...we have passed all the program requirements but now they added this test that the score is requiring nowDesired Settlement: Release my transprits to the board of nursing which the school has already paid for so I can test for my registered nursing license...I have completed the program and it's unfair and unethical to change policy at the end of the program and dismiss me from the program

Below is ECPI University’s response to Case Number [redacted] filed by [redacted] on October 14, 2015: 1. School started using a predictor test after completion of the program. Ms. [redacted] is confusing DEGREE completion requirements with an individual course requirement. Degree requirements for the AAS in Nursing have not changed. The change she is referring to is for one of the COURSE requirements for NUR271-Dimensions in Nursing which states that a student must achieve a 70% or higher on a predictive test. 2. Dismissal from the program. In accordance with ECPI University’s Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Program Student Handbook, Page 8, “Any student who fails a single course twice or who has failed three individual courses may be subject to suspension from the program.” Ms. [redacted] failed NUR109, Dosage Calculation for Professional Nursing, in Term 2 (3/3/14-4/6/14); NUR271, Dimensions of Nursing, in Term 4 (5/11/15-6/14/15); and NUR271, Dimensions of Nursing, for a second time in Term 7 (8/24/15-9/27/15). Ms. [redacted] was notified of her suspension from the program by Ms. Joy [redacted] effective 9/26/15. 3. Ms. [redacted] was offered a three week remediation program at no additional cost and an option to take a second predictive test. Ms. [redacted] took the second predictive test on 7/18/15. She again failed to meet the minimum benchmark and thus failed the course. Students who did not meet the minimum benchmark on a second predictive test were then provided the opportunity to repeat the NUR271 course when next offered. Ms. [redacted] attempted the NUR271 course for a second time in Term 7 (8/24/15-9/27/15) and was not successful. The University has also offered to allow Ms. [redacted] to transfer to another program at no charge. Review: I went to this school for over a year and they kept putting class off, finally I was able to complete all my class and Externship. With externship they are only able to send me on that once all classes have been completed which I did. I finished my externship with no problem and went back to the school to complete my exit interview and was told I hadn't finished a class which I took twice because they kept putting me in the wrong class. I had taken the class online which my professor had allowed and submitted all my work online through the online site. I let the professor know that it was completed and she never replied but it showed submitted on the website. I showed up to do my exit interview and was told I didn't complete this class, I then ask them to pull up my work online and I was told that the school deletes online course after a few months. So now the school wants to charge me once again for this class and refuses to give me my diploma. I contacted the head person at that site along with the head person of the MA course and one didn't return my call and they other one told me that it wasn't his problem. I was informed recently by a few other classmates that they went through they same thing. I have proof that my work was completed and submitted by former employers who were there at the time I did the work and submitted it.Desired Settlement: I would like my diploma without any further issues
