Review: Graduation requirements were changed 3 days prior to graduating, without required SAA approval. My complaint starts with ECPI University's medical branch, Medical Careers Institute, located at [redacted] My cohort was due to graduate on June 14, 2015. On June 11, 2015, my cohort of 38 people were informed that we would not have our transcripts released because of a change in graduation requirements. We were informed that this change involved taking and passing an exit exam from a third party entity called [redacted]. Out of the 38 people that were unprepared for this exam, only 5 passed. Only those 5 students were given degrees. We were informed of this change 3 days prior to graduating. According the State Approval Agency for Veterans, [redacted] changes to programs and policies, catalogs, handbooks, and syllabi are to be approved, and said changes can not be instituted until listed on the college's WEAMS Report VA Form 22-1998. Because Medical Careers Institute failed to request approval to institute this change, they have since then lost SAA's approval to continue to accept the GI Bill from veterans. There are still students from this June cohort that are waiting to have their transcripts released, as they have completed everything required according to the last WEAMS Report. Out of the new class of graduates from September 27, 2015, there are 39 students, and only 9 are going to have their transcripts released because of this unauthorized change.Desired Settlement: Since this was deemed a "Best for Vets" school, and the RN program can no longer accept the GI Bill, I seek to have mine and my fellow classmate's transcripts released, as we have completed all of the most recently approved SAA graduation requirements. To be specific, we have completed the requirements for graduating according to what the SAA currently has on file.

The implemented change applied to a syllabus change for the requirements of the NUR271, Dimensions of Nursing course. The syllabus includes a course completion section that states that the student must achieve a 70% or higher on a predictive test. A presentation by the Medical Careers Institute’s Virginia Beach Campus’s Director of Nursing was made to the complainant and the Registers Nursing (RN) students on 4/28/15 and 4/29/15 outlining the NUR271 curriculum and course requirement adjustments. The NUR271 course syllabus and requirements are included electronically in the University Learning Management System (LMS) and were reviewed a second time with the complainant and the RN students in detail on the first day of the term, 5/11/15.Graduation requirements were changed without required SAA approval. Summary 2: ECPI University does make every effort to work collaboratively with the State Approving Agency for Veterans. Although college catalogues are required for submission to the agency for approval, syllabus changes are not typically required. As stated above, this was a syllabus change and syllabus changes do not typically need approval by the SSA.3. Students are waiting to have their transcript released as they have completed everything required.Summary 3: Students who did not score a 70% or higher on the

predictive testing did not complete the course. Graduation requirements

included a passing grade for the course. Once a student graduates from a

create a learning environment that supports this goal. Thank you for the opportunity

Review: I had attended ECPI in January of 2010 and before then I was suppose to start in November of 09 in that I had already been going to [redacted] and I needed to finish up with them before I could start at ECPI. I attended the school until about June/July of 2010 because I started having complications in my pregnancy. They were fully aware at that time I was pregnant because I talked to them about my maternity leave that I was going to be taking in October of 2010. I contacted them and told them that I was unable to come back to school because my pregnancy had gotten to the point I was going to the doctor's for ultra sounds every 1-2 weeks. During that time I was never once contacted in regards to my loans not being issued towards my tuition. I was there everyday that I had classes unless I had a doctor's appointment. I would stay at school until 5pm everyday. They also had my number and my fiancée's number in which they could get in contact with me. They choose to never get in contact with me in regards to my tuition. Nobody told me that my loans were not in place when I started in January. So, they had from January until June/July when I left school to tell me I had no loans to cover my tuition. I have proof showing that I had loans in November and I believe in January to show that I should of had them dispersed in January when I started. So, if my loans were never applied then they should of told me and they did not. I have been fighting to get this amount dismissed since 2010 and now here it is almost 4 years later and I am still fighting it. I also feel like I was treated unfairly because I was pregnant and going to the doctors constantly. I also have proof of all the days/dates I missed school to go to the doctors. I ended up giving birth early after I left because I got very, very sick to the point I almost died.Desired Settlement: Not only do I want a former apology I want the $8,243.33 to be dismissed from any and all collections.

Spoke with [redacted]. He states that he has reached out to the customer and is setting up a meeting for early next week to have the customer come in to talk about the issues and try and resolve the problem. He feels that he has all of the necessary documents to figure out the issues.
