On December *, I ordered a Lux 2 translator from this company. My bank was charged immediately for it and I received an e-mail stating I would receive it within 3-5 business days. By December **, I still had not received it. I e-mailed the customer service person I had been working with and found out it had not even been sent out. Luckily I had used paypal to pay for it so getting a refund wasn't that difficult. I had second thoughts and sent a communication request to them to see if I could reorder the item. The form said someone would get back to me within 1 day. That was 2 days ago. After reading their track record on this web site, I'm staying as far away from this company as I can. The down side is that they seem to be the only game in town for the type of translator I need.

Review: I work as a mental health project worker; I support people who deal with a variety of different mental and physical health issues. I supported a service user to buy a translator from Ecatco Inc in August of last year. Unfortunately when it arrived, it was damaged and unusable. I contacted Ectaco who after long periods of ignoring my emails finally agreed to refund my money in full. They asked me to send the product back with all documentation, which I did. I have since found it extremely difficult to contact them to arranged the refund and when I have managed to speak to them, they have made it as difficult as possible to complete the refund. The last time I managed to talk to the advisor I was dealing with, he said I had to contact customer services to finalise the refund, which I have be unable to do. I can't help but feel this is a deliberate attempt to discourage me from pursuing this further. I have since read numerous online complaints and reviews by people who have similar experiences with the company.Desired Settlement: I am looking to arrange the full refund as previously agreed.

Review: I ordered a product from them via telephone on 7/**/2013. They charged my credit card at that point but did not send a product. 4 weeks passed and I called to cancel my order. They said the product was on its way. I waited 3 more weeks and finally received the product. It's obvious that the product was not on its way and could have been cancelled but they did not want to miss a sale. Once I received the product, I did not like it so I called customer service and they told me to send it back at MY EXPENSE. I did send it back in November 2013. It is now 12/**/2013 and I still have not received my money back. I called customer service and they left me waiting for 25 minutes!!!

It is obvious that this company is taking advantage of people by providing horrible customer service, useless products, and not honoring their money back guarantee.Desired Settlement: Refund of charges back to my credit card of $112 for the product. In addition, I am requesting a refund of shipping charges that I paid in sending the product back in the amount of $7. The reason they should honor this is because I called in advance to cancel the shipment but they said it was already on its way.

Review: On 1/**/14 I ordered from Ectaco International,INC a product ectaco partner lux, advertized at the Radio Station 1380 am. I received the product on 1/*/15 via [redacted]. I tried the product and immediately noticed that translations were defective, incoherent and not understandable. . I called Ectamo on 1/*/15 to report that the product does not satisfy my expectation. The company advised me to call next business day. I called on 1/* - 1/* and was transferred to a voicemail of the sales person named [redacted]. I was advised that I have to speak to [redacted]. On 1/* ivwas informed that [redacted] is no longer working for the company. A male person who answered the phone ###-###-#### refused to disclose his name stating that his name is irrelevant. He stated that the reason I gave to return the product is not acceptable for refund. He also said that the time. Limit for returns exceeding 7 days. I made several calls after because the man hung up the phone and my calls were not answered. I need to return the product and the company refused to give me a return authorization number. I already place a dispute with my credit card and I attempted to send an email provided in the invoice [redacted] and [redacted] but my emails were unable to deliver. I raise my complaint through Revdex.com because I truly believe that this company is taking advantage from people in need and is ignoring the rights of the consumersDesired Settlement: To provide a return merchandise authorization . To refund the amount of $300.00 paid for the merchandise.

Review: I bought a traslator from this company giving precise informations.

The tool should have 3 pairs of languages

They agreed and sent me the price, and after my payment they shipped the translator.

The problem is

I missing one language pair completely (Italian <--> Japanese) and it lacks the dictionary (Italian< --> german)

I sent 3 emails concerning this to them, and I did not receive any answer.Desired Settlement: The solution is simple, I want what I paid.

I give any support necessary to unlock this situation

Every pair costs $40, it they cannot honor the contract, I ask $80 dollars back, because 1 pair is missing and another lacks of a critical function.

Review: On March *, 2013 I purchased the ES900 translator. I decided to return the merchandise within 7 days of delivery, because it wasn't what I expected. I tried to get The Return authorization & shipping address without avail. The bank stopped the payment also as per bank's directions, I mailed the merchandise to the location printed in the invoice, they refused to accept it & it was returned to me. Now they are trying to get their money through a collection agency. Tell me what can I do at this point? Your assistance will be appreciated.Desired Settlement: The device was never used & I need to find a way to return it to the merchant.

Review: In June of this year Ectaco sent me a defective dictionary. When I returned the dictionary, I was asked a series of questions according to the instructions; those same instructions indicated that I would get a new dictionary device or my money back. The company did not want to return my money arguing that the 7 day return period had passed. Also when I mailed their product back they said I needed an RMA number. This number was not given to me when I called ###-###-####.Desired Settlement: I do not want a replacement, only a refund. I will gladly return their product.

Review: On 2/*/2016 I saw on Ectacos website they were offering a great deal. Quoted from their website "Valentine's Day Sale Buy one, get one free. Two Electronic translators for the price of one. And an Accessory pack as a bonus. Ectaco is happy to offer a unique 3-for-1 deal - buy any bilingual or multilingual Ectaco P900/LUX 2/iTRAVL 2 electronic translator and get a second translator as a gift PLUS an Accessory Pack with loads of extras! Additionally you get FREE shipping within the continental US & Canada on ANY item $98 or more!" I ordered the Ectacto EG900 under the catagory of P900 translator for $249. When the order was completed, the receipt showed the free accessory pack and SD card but did not show the free translator, so I immediately email the link for customer service stating my free translator did not show on the receipt. The response was from Kate A[redacted] stating "Thank you for your email. You do not get free translator. You get Accessory Pack plus SD Card multi 13MT900 for 13 languages as a gift." In reply, I told her it was false advertising and I wanted to cancel my order. Her reply was the order was shipped and they would send out a Greek Phrasebook as an exception and asked if I accepted the offer. My reply back was asking again why they were not honoring thier advertisement and that I wanted the same translator I ordered, not a phrasebook. Her reply " 3 for 1 deal means Accessory pack and SD card as gifts. This time in my reply, I sent her the screen shot of the ad on their website and let her know that was not what the ad stated. Her reply was again to send me the phrasebook. I again declined and asked since she was unable to resolve the issue I requested for her to escalate to her immediate supervisor. She stated "There is misunderstanding. We do not give the same translator for free. We give another device as a gift." I told her there was no misunderstanding, their company was trying to scam people and to refer to the screen shot that I sent. Her reply was again to accept the phrasebook or I could return the first one.Then I received another email "

I checked the site, there is no "Two for the price of one" offer as you wrote. We advertise "get a second translator as a gift" (see your first email below)" At this point I went back to her website, and they removed the model that I purchased as receiving the free translator. In my reply, I told her to refer to the picture that I sent where it clearly stated the offer. I also told her I would be contacting the FTC for false advertising and to please send me the correct translator as stated in the ad. Her reply was "

Please confirm if you accept this offer." My reply back again was to get her supervisors contact information. She replied that she could not provide it. I asked for her to forward my information to her direct supervisor. She replied back with what her supervisor authorized, which is the same as she was offering. I asked again for her supervisor to contact me. No response. I have the entire email conversation between myself and Kate A[redacted]. Can you please assist me in getting my free translator. Review: Purchased an Ectaco Partner Lux 2, today is day 3, we have had screen issues since day 1. I asked to return the device and [redacted] or [redacted] keep telling me NO. I repeatedly asked for an RMA to return the Item and Iw as told NO. His refund/return policy allows for refunds/returns within 7 days. From day 2 he has been telling me no.

He actually went as far as suggesting I tell my wife to Shut Up, He suggested I hit my wife with the device, then maybe I could kick my dog...... Yes, I am serious, this guy actually said this.

I wrote am email to the company, showing all my purchase details and with a detailed description of the issues with the device as well as my issues with the company representative.

Since this purchase I looked on [redacted] and he has a very bad track record of poor customer service.

He actually states in a post that the Revdex.com only gives him a bad rating because he does not pay to be a member.Desired Settlement: REFUND, teach this guy not to mess with his customers.

Review: I bought device on the Ectaco website. On the website were no information regarding the battery for the electronic dictionary. When I received my electronic dictionary I found out that the battery works only 3 hours after charging and stay charged only 3 days. The battery has to be exchanged every year but it is not sold in Ectaco store. This product EP850was developed in the year 2007 and it should have been removed from sales a long time ago. I consider this product a lemon. I wrote to the technical support of Ectaco advising them that I'm not satisfied with their product and they offered me exchange with a more expensive product. I responded that I would be interested in exchange but had a few questions regarding the battery and they never responded to my e-mails regarding this matter.Desired Settlement: I would return the devise to the Ectaco and want them to return me my money.

Review: Difficulty with this company since the beginning: sent wrong products,no instructions, poor communication, no support, poor service, and recently rude behavior. I request cheapest. He sent best with promise that I would have 30 days, not 7. to return. 4/** Requested prices for dealer discounts. The cost of the merchandise was $450. I am ** and out of work and looking for a business opportunity. The Ectaco highlighter pen seemed very, very cheap and the service and support of the company was abominable. Review: I returned the LUX Translator on May ** 2013 per [redacted] with RMA # [redacted]. I returned the LUX because the voice translator did NOT work offline as [redacted] promised it would. I called him and he walked me thru the process that was supposed to make it work offline and it still did not work. So I got the RMA to return it. Ectaco received it on 05/**/13 signed for by [redacted]. I waited one month for the refund to show up on my credit card statement but it did not. I called and left a message on that day and no one called me back. So I sent the following email to [redacted], I returned the LUX and it was delivered on 05/**/13 at 12:25 PM, signed for by [redacted]. I have yet to receive a refund and I do not feel I should have to pay a re-stock fee because the unit did not work offline (voice translation) as I was promised before I ordered it. I have sent emails to customer service to no avail. If I do not receive a reply as to the status by June [redacted], I will be writing to the Revdex.com and the New York Comsumers Reporting Division. Thank you for your help in this matter. [redacted]Desired Settlement: I wish to have a full refund. I do not think I should have to pay the restock fee or shipping because I would not have bought the LUX if I had know the voice translator would not work offline. I specifically asked [redacted] if the voice translator would work offline and he assured me that it would. So therefore, I should receive a full refund.

Review: I purchased a Norwegian translator from Ectaco International in NY. It is not at all what I was expecting or needed. I tried to return it for a full refund the next day. The Invoice states BOLDLY, "No Packages will be accepted without RMA number."The problem is that EVERY number to contact them is either out of service or there is no answer or the number belongs to a private residence. Now I am stuck with a $112.75 piece of junk that can't be returned. I believe this is intentional to not allow any returns.Desired Settlement: Return my $112.75

Review: I was told this product (Partner LUX2) would be able to have spoken Albanian language translated to English and spoken English translated to Albanian (even though it may be limited to a few thousand common words). This product does not even allow for any spoken Albanian to be translated at all, which was the only reason I purchased it. I spoke with the sales rep named [redacted] and told him I would be out of the country for over a month and therefore could not return the product if it didn’t work the way I needed it to within the 7 day full refund return policy. [redacted] assured me that if I sent him an email within the 7 day period outlining my displeasure he would honor the return when I came back to the USA. So I the premium to have it shipped overnight to me and left the day after it arrived for Albania. It does not allow for any spoken Albanian to be translated at all. On the other end of it, even when I speak English into it, the translation is so robotic and monotone it’s unintelligible to Albanians. Needless to say the product is worthless to me and when I tried to speak with [redacted] at Ectaco he has only ignored my phone calls, voicemails and emails. This product cost me $400 and is not even worth $40. The fact that Ectaco has ignored me is so unprofessional that I am considering filing a law suit just for the principle of it.Desired Settlement: Redund my money and an apology for not responding to my numerous attemps to settle this.

Review: I contacted Ectaco International regarding a Radio announcement on Radio Caracol selling a Speech Translator. I spoke with a sales person by the name of [redacted] who offered to sell me the Speech Translator. As I do not custom to make purchases on the phone especially without being able to see the physical product to ensure my satisfaction, I asked [redacted] several times that should I not be satisfied with the product if I could return it to which he confirmed that I could. He explained that the only charge they could not refund would be the shipping which I understood. I received the product late last week and was very unsatisfied with the apparence and functionality of the Speech Translator. The Invoice I recieved states, "A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and Return shipping address must be obtained from Ectaco Inc prior to the return of any merchandise. All returns are made within 7 days of delivery, and are subject to a 6.5% restocking fee and deduction of shipping costs. For RMA number and the Return shipping address please call ###-###-####." I proceeded to contact the provided number to obtain the RMA number and shipping address, but after speaking with several representatives have been informed that they will not allow me to return the Speech Translator as it was sold to me at a Promotional Price. As I explained to the representatives, I was never informed that I was being sold the Speech Translator at a Promotional Price and advised the reps of my conversation with [redacted]. However, to no avail, they will not allow me to return the item. I even confirmed that their Return Policy on their website does not state any mention of Promotional Pricing returns not being allowed. Their representatives response to that was that their Return Policy on the website is only for sales made through the website. I ask for your assistance in seeking a return of this item as the cost was $349.95.Desired Settlement: I ask for your assistance in seeking a return of this item and a refund to my credit card in the amount of the Speech Translator $349.95.
