Ed Gregg's Plumbing Reviews (1)

We hired Ed Gregg at the recommendation of our real estate agent. He did three jobs for us: replace leaking pipe under the bath in the house we were selling, replace leaking stack pipe in our new house and replace sewer line.

He failed at all three, the biggest of which were the stack pipe and sewer.

STACK PIPE: we were told to remove cabinets in our kitchen and upstairs bath. When the two men got there, they said the upstairs didnt need it, so we wasted time and money removing a built-in upstairs. After the men went to lunch, we discovered the pipe they removed in the ceiling of our kitchen was also leaking further down the line. They wouldnt have caught it had we not informed them. After two years, we have water stains on our ceiling again. The two men were not dressed professionally and I now question whether they were licensed at all.

SEWER LINE: Ed Gregg's rep said we needed a new sewer line following a clog. His rep said they wouldnt need to disturb landscaping to get to the line since they have a lift to get the equipment into our yard, which sits above the street. When the two men showed up, they were not aware of this lift, but assured us they would replace fencing and bushes theyd need to take out. That didnt happen- in fact they drove over a new tree of ours. Later that day, we received a call that the diggers couldnt find the line and wanted to talk to us. We let them know we were five minutes away, but when we got there they had already filled in the hole and left, taking with them equipment that had belinged to us. It turned out Ed Gregg was in Florida and had subcontracted our job out without telling us. We asked who the company was we still dont know. As we were frantically calling other plumbers two weeks before Thanksgiving, we were hoping the company we were calling wasnt them.

After calling other plumbers, the concensus was that Ed Gregg was negligent in realizing a back hoe with a 6' digging capacity wouldnt work when we clearly had a basement and the line had to be at least 10' down. Also, most plumbers doubted whether we needed a new line at all when Ed Gregg didnt do a camera inspection of the line.

The plumber who finally fixed our line said his negligence costed us double what it shoukd have. Ed Gregg woukd not return calls from us or other plumbers when we needed information on what happened to our drain cleanout or why the line was blocked when they said they couldnt reach it.

After three years of pursuing this in court, with Ed Gregg lying, saying that we ordered them of our property when they had actually abandoned the job, filing for continuances and losing lawers time after time, we have decided to drop our case. But we will be sure to warn others to avoid Ed Gregg at all costs.
