Ed & Son's Painting & Maintenance

We hired Ed to paint the exterior of our home, he told us 3 days completion. We paid him 3 1/4 up front the rest when the job was complete. He barely showed up for the job, yet has listed that he was, on days we were home and know he wasn't. He didn't do what was listed in the contract (sanding old paint, powerwashing, clean up etc) he painted partial sections of the house 1 coat over old peeling paint. It is now September and the job isn't finished, yet he is harassing us for more money. He used fence posts to replace damaged wood siding. We supplied ALL the paint as we were going to do it ourselves. We want what we paid him back so we can hire a real professional to do the job correctly!

I hired Ed to paint the exterior of my house. He quoted me 3,800.00 for power washing, primer, and two coats of paint. He offered me a 200.00 discount if I paid in cash. I gave him half of the money upfront, and then 800.00 more when he requested it for more supplies. I then gave him 450.00 to get supplies to do some woodwork. Ed was frequently late, and more often a no show. When he did show up, he stayed for less than an hour. The work that was done was shoddy, and streaky. He tried to pawn off the wrong paint color. He left the job 1/4 of the way done. Multiple attempts to get him to finish were unsuccessful. I have now asked him to just send me receipts for items purchased, along with a refund of the remaining money I gave him. It has been almost a month since I made this request, and there has been no contact from him. I just want my money back so that I can hire a new contractor to actually do the job.

When he did show up it was only for about a half hour and nothing was getting done. When I started to complain he sent two guys who looked high to do work and they did a half as job for a few hours before leaving. He kept asking for money for items he needed but never delivered them. He didn’t even have a ladder long enough to paint the top half of my house. He tried to paint my house some color that wasn’t even close to what I asked and tried to tell me it was right. (Mint green vs a light brown). I could go on and on with everything else but you get the idea. I am now waiting on an itemized receipt of money spent along with a refund. Pretty sure I will have to go to court to get my money. I guess I will see you in front of a judge, Ed. Stay far away from this man!!! Complete rip off artist.
