February 1, Re: Complaint # We received your correspondence regarding the above mention complaint for the very first time today and although portion of it Mr*** version are correct, there are some important elements left outAlthough Mr*** was sent to the back
where the cars are stored, he was instructed by you employee to wait by the back gate for another employee to escort him to his vehiclePlease keep in mind Ed & Son’s Towing runs a law enforcement impound yard and stores vehicles and all possessions therein as securely as possibleHowever, instead of following directions, Mr*** was in the vehicle storage areaMr*** immediately approached Mr*** asking if he could help himMr*** met Mr***’s with an indignant tone, jumping out of the vehicle in a threatening manner and getting in Mr***’s faceThat’s when Mr*** informed Mr*** he had the right to refuse service to anyone and ordered Mr*** to leavePlease note that insults and slurs were exchanged by both parties involved. Mr*** also made threats toward Mr*** via an employee, informing said employee that he had previously been a boxer and wanted to fight the owner (Mr***)At that point Mr*** returned to the front of the property and called the policeThe police asked Mr*** to allow Mr*** to inspect his vehicle, which Mr*** didSubsequently, Mr*** Paid the bill before taking possession of the vehicle, complaining all the he had to pay for towing and storage which, by the way, can be submitted for reimbursement to his insurance company if he has the proper coverageThe Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department sets Mr***’s rates as a matter of record and the rates are non- negotiableAs stated above, Mr*** runs a law enforcement impound yardEvery vehicle

Review: I write you today with a saddened heart.I have been a resident of Sacramento my whole life. My car was recently stolen from my apartment complex, but Luckily it was retrieved by the Sacramento county Sheriffs department. This brought me great joy, and the Sheriffs department handled it very graciously. When it came time for me to deal with the Tow truck company that the sheriffs had tow my stolen car,it was completely the opposite. My car was towed by a company called Ed& Sons Towing. When I called them the man informed me in a very stern tone that if I wanted to get my car it would cost me $185 for the towing service, plus $50 "a day" for storage. I explained to the man that my car was stolen and that I simply do not have that kind of money. I didn't want it to be stolen or towed for that matter and I simply do not have that amount of money. He said in so many words, that if I don't pay it, they will just keep my car and sell it! I tried to plead with him by asking, "It cant be the same price for a stolen vehicle can it"? He quickly retorted with "do you want your car tonight"? I replied " yes sir, if at all possible". He answered "Ok, well that will be the $185, plus $50 for storage, and half of $185($92.50) for a "time" fee. so it may be cheaper if you come tomorrow".So he was literally racking up charges as we were speaking. To say the least I feel extorted by this company.I feel as if they were taking advantage while I was in a time of tribulation. It has come to attention that they are not the only tow company that uses these kinds of practices in pursuit of profit.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded at least a $200.00 out of the $285.00 that this company charged to get my vehicle back. I have also took the time to write city leaders, and the representatives of my district to look into implementing regulations, to prevent the further exploitation of auto theft victims. I suggest a much smaller, flat rate be put in place for victims of auto theft.
