Heard that this was one of the better auto restoration places in townDon't believe itMade a deal with *** to restore our Super Beetle from good, running condition to showroom qualityRepairs were to include engine rebuild and brakes/electrical/suspension overhaul, as well as complete interior revampWe agreed to a ballpark price with the understanding that it could climb, and agreed that time was not an issue, since we were moving to another State anyway
*** promised regular status updates and talked a nice game of providing pictures of every stage of the rebuildWhat really happened is that we received zero updates, regular requests for money, and bad attitudeAfter stringing us along for several months, we were told that *** was no longer interested in performing the rebuild, and that the vehicle needed to be towed elsewhere within one week -- towed, because it had been torn apart, in running condition, then slapped back together such that it no longer cranks
So, we had to find a flatbed that could haul what now amounts to scrap metal across State lines, on short notice, at our expense, with no explanation whatsoeverWe're out money both ways, out a functional vehicle, and out months of time that could have been spent working on itTo top it off, the driver we found said the shop gave him nothing but grief when he got there; very unprofessional
