Eddie's Door and Locks Reviews (2)

Review: 9/25/15- We called Carmichael door and key on 9/25/15 for a referral for a locksmith. It was a simple task of re-key of 2 doors and one lever and lock install. We scheduled for 9:30 am. 9/28/15- [redacted] showed up on 9/28/15 at 10:30 am. He evaluated the work needed and stated that he had to call to get a price on the lock. He quoted us $220.00 and we said yes to that verbal quote AFTER he reviewed everything. He left to go to West Sac to pick up parts. It was explained we needed to leave the office by 5:00 pm. [redacted] showed up at 4:30 pm on his cell phone constantly and could not focus on the job. Halfway through the work he stopped and told me his total charge was not to be paid $580.00! I said this was not what he quoted us before we agreed that he would leave to get the parts. [redacted] then stated to make things go faster he would not fix one lock and not re-key this, and he would help us out by discounting us down to $395.00? I said no, that this was too much because he said $220.00. He said he would not do the other items to discount us, he knew I had to leave and because of that pressure I said to just finish because we had to close up the office. He then wanted to charge me $7.00 per each key needed on top of all of this. Which can be made at [redacted] for $1.72. I had to leave to pick up my 7 yr. old daughter who was now waiting for an hour now and that is the absolutely the only reason I paid [redacted] the $395.00. He had to go to his van 3 times in order to charge my credit card, and left me his receipt book to fill in the address. He was unprofessional, did not perform the work as agreed, double charged labor that did not exist as he spent most of the time on his cell phone, and charged for items we did not request. The work was not satisfactory at all. He also cannot count. He charged me $137.60 (tax included) for lock lever, $100 Installation?, $65 Re-key?, and $45.00 for labor which is a total of $347.60- but then charged me $395.00? So where is the extra $47.40 going to that [redacted] charged me for? Its fraud. 9/29/15- We called Carmichael door and key and when we heard that the exact same receptionist answered, we hung up and called another locksmith. It was then that we realized the Carmichael Door is a front referral service and they will always send [redacted] out on the job. 9/29/15- We called [redacted] and explained the issue and he came right out to assist us. He assessed what [redacted]s Door and lock had done, versus what we asked [redacted] to do. A [redacted] stated that [redacted] did not know what he was doing, he removed screws from our front door, did not rekey properly and the labor and fees that we paid for were simply outrageous for a simple job like this. The entire job should have ben done for the lock lever with tax $137.60, and the labor cost of $45.00. A total of $182.60 Not the excessive $395.00 he charged us.[redacted] offered to do this for us free of charge. We stated we would pay for his work which was a total of $85.00 for a simple re-key and to replace pins that [redacted] removed. 9/30/15- We called Carmichael door and key and spoke to [redacted], who stated her boss was [redacted]. We explained we had an issue with what happened the day before. She offered no credit to the charge. At 8:45 am We asked for the license # and she stated she is not allowed to give that to us, and when we asked why? If this was a reputable company all contractors should freely share their license, she refused. We received a call from [redacted] close to 9:00 am who stated he did not have his license # but he would call American Express to fight for the charge to go through. It was at that time I called American Express and formally placed the charge of the $395.00 on hold due to the issue. We explained to him that he over charged us. [redacted] called back 30 minutes later at 9:30 am he still did not have his license #. It was at that time we called American Express to dispute the charge to [redacted]s lock and key for the $395.00. We offered at that time to pay [redacted] for the total that should have been charged of $182.60, which he refused and said he will call American Express to have them pay the entire amount of $395.00. At that time he still would not give us his license #. We had A Better Cheaper Locksmith change our front door key for safety reasons in the event [redacted] still has our key. Also because when [redacted] keyed the front door lock- he made it possible for anyone to try multiple keys to try and open our door because he removed a pin that we needed from the start.Desired Settlement: I have stopped the American Express Charge of the $395.00 and want Eddie's Door and Lock to stop calling American Express to get the charge processed. I want a letter in writing with signature from Eddie's Door and Lock stating this is resolved and no balance is due.

To whom it may concern,

Review: They took our credit card information and charged us for services that we were not provided. We paid them their service fee to leave our home after they showed up in an old, dirty van. These were two very unprofessional looking and scary men. We would not let them into our home. They would not leave without a payment. We paid the 29.95 service fee and they left. We discovered that we were charged hundreds and they are still attempting to use our card. This is a illegal operation that is stealing money. My husband called a number that said it was located at 1300 Harbor Blvd, West Sacramento. This location is a bank. We were rerouted to a 1 800 number. They are operating with burner cell phones. They are using multiple numbers including: 916-414-0341916-621-7677916-640-4528916-595-7241 (this is their main business line and it doesnt work) The service man was named Alex and the owner is [redacted] ([redacted])They are also working with a call center if you dial 916-414-0341 a person answers and says service and thats it.They send someone to your house and they ask for a huge price. Im assuming the scam is ask for an enormous price, get the service fee of 29.95 and then fraudulently charge your card.We already had our card cancelled in 24 hours, because there were attempting to use it. They must take the number and duplicate it and make a physical card. If you ask for a business license number or an owner name they hang up. That is not normal business practice. Walk into any store, food, laundry, accounting, etc. A business will have a state license to operate.Desired Settlement: I want the transaction either cancelled or refunded.

to whom it may concern we received a request for service on 04/27, the costumer had a broken spring on a 16X7 non insulated garage door.we arrived to the costumer's house within 30 minutes and gave her an estimate of 375$ for replacing both springs and labor. The costumer agreed with the estimate and signed the receipt for approval (copy of the signed receipt is attached to this response). After the job was finished and the new springs were tuned correctly the costumer checked it several times and was satisfied with the results. The costumer put her initials for the card payment and put her signature on the receipt as approval for the transaction (copy of the transaction approval is attached to this response). An hour after tech left the costumer's residence, she called and said she was over charged and started to threaten in all sort of ways, I tried to explain her about the price and the job that was given but that did not seem to help with her anger.our company policy is no refunds on labor done, especially on springs that have been tuned and installed, our prices are pretty competitive for the prices in the market and I advised the costumer to check it by calling other companies.we are licensed and our technicians as well and I have no problem showing any document requested.sicerly[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: That is not at allwhat happened. My husband signed a blank screen for the 29.95 and a clipboard. They gave us a small receipt that looks nothing like the one attached. Theyalso verbally threatened us when we called to ask about the charge. I was toldthere was nothing I could do, and I quote "good luck proving it." I was honestly shocked and appalled at the way they conducted themselves. Theywould not leave our home until we paid the 29.95 and we were forced to sign forthat. That receipt he presented is false. Also, there was absolutely no amount on the screen thatmy husband signed. They did not tell us to go compare market prices, they werenot professional or polite. They were extremely aggressive and we paid theirservice fee just so they would leave, and that was under duress as far as I amconcerned. My husband tried once more last night to contact them. [redacted] stated he would give us a refund and gave my husband a number to call.My husband called and it was some voicemail service. It was a fake number, andwhen my husband called him back he would not answer his phone. Their business practices are horrible to say the least. And what they are attempting is fraud.
