07/13/16 - I just had my aging driveway repaved by Paul E[redacted] and his crew. Paul is a very conscientious about his work. He paid attention to every detail, my driveway looks wonderful. They completed the work in a timely manner and were very polite and professional. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to have asphalt work done.

Review: To whom it may concern: I had Ernest and Paul Eddington Asphalt Paving put an Asphalt Driveway for my new Garage I just had built. I ask Paul to come back to look at the un-eveness of the asphalt job since one day after it was completed it rained and their are areas on the job which rain puddles stayed. I ask Paul if he could come back and he said he was busy but would come back to look at it. I called him the next 3 weeks and he kept saying he was very busy but he did not forget about me to come look at the puddle problem. On the 4th. week, he came out and came with a worker and said their is nothing wrong with the asphalt job but he did not tell me I had to be there to point out the un-even spots. I then told him on the phone that I could send him pictures by email to show the rain puddles on the asphalt job he did. But Paul did not say he wanted them and he says their is nothing wrong with the work he performed. I then sent him a certified letter to his address of 389 Arona Road, New Stanton, Pa. 15672. This is one of the addresses listed under his HIC Number -PA012803. I used this number for my certified letter because the other address had a box number. So the postal service told me that this address has insufficient information and I guess it is not valid anymore? Here is the letter I wrote as a certified letter that your agency can use to copy to get in contact with Paul Eddington, but since the one address at 389 Arona Road, New Stanton, Pa 15672 is not valid, I assume you will have to use the other address listed under his HIC number which is 144 Slovke Club Road , Box 144, Hostetter, Pa. 15638. Dear Ernest and Paul Eddington,

I am writing to you both concerning the asphalt job that you both did at [redacted].

On September 8, 2015 you both finished the asphalt job of $5900.00 and I paid you the remaining amount of $2950.00 dollars. I ask you Paul on that day why there is a dip in the asphalt on the entry point of the job? Your comment was that it will all blend in once I started driving vehicles over it to my new garage just built. So the weekend came on Saturday September 12, 2015 and it rained very hard. I noticed puddles of rainwater on the new asphalt job that you both did. I called you Paul and you told me that you were very busy next week doing jobs and you could not come out to look at the unevenness of various areas of the asphalt job. So every weekend for three weeks, I called you Paul and you told me that same thing that you were busy and you did not forget about me and you would come out to look at the job. So after waiting over a month for you to come out, I called you Paul and left you a message on Sunday, November 1, 2015 that I wanted you to come out and fix the problem of the dips in the asphalt. You told me that you would work with me and you would call me and let me know what you saw. On Monday, November 2, 2015 you called me at 12:16 p.m. and told me with a worker there with you, that there is nothing wrong with the asphalt job since you did it on September 8, 2015. It seems Paul if I could have been there and pointed out the dips and unevenness in the asphalt you might think differently but I was working on that day. I told you that I could email you pictures on how the dips on the asphalt fill up with water. You did not say you wanted me to email the pictures and what the means to me that you are not concerned with the job you and Ernest did. And Paul you made a comment that quote: “Its just a driveway!” I guess if you made a driveway for yourself, you would not care if it were not flat and had dips and unevenness. Well Paul I care about this job and I feel you should come back and re-roll it with more asphalt to satisfy me. You did say you would work with me. So I am asking you to make a decision on fixing the un-eveness of this asphalt job.

Job was done with all power equipment state aprove asphalt .the job was check to answer mr [redacted] complaint he signed contract that clearly states we do not guarantee water spots or low spots if you had a problem we would be happy to fix it step in parking lot after a rain and tell me how many water spots you step in that is the reason we us contracts read your contract ps you said paul came back to look at your driveway and he had a man with him I don't see what that would have to do with the job because he was going to another job when he check driveway .and you don't roll a driveway after it was rolled a day or week later .thanksErnest E[redacted]

Review: About 10 days ago [redacted], Pa Contractor #[redacted], came to my wife's business after being seen at a neighbor's house and she asked for an estimate for the alley leading to our house to be paved, we are the sole users of the alley, not our propery. Verbal quote of $4,000.On July 17th he returned to ask if a decision had been made and asked to talk to me. I am still recovering from a broken leg, 5 Dec 2013, and have not been able to work. I told him that $4,000 was twice the amount I could pay, have been living on retirement and withdrawing IRA's. After some discussion, they had ordered 400 tons of asphalt for a parking lot job and had only used 300 tons, the rest was at the asphalt plant being kept HOT, needed to be used, and he then gave me a price of $4,200, my wife quickly reminded him of the $4,000 price given earlier, price now $4,000. Again I remined him that I could not pay that, started to walk back to the house, the price started coming down, finally he said $2,000. My wife and him shook hands on the deal, nothing written. Crew would come 10 A.M. 19 July.Friday 11 A.M. I called him, crew delayed on another job, now Monday the 22nd, his father-in-law [redacted] PA #[redacted], Revdex.com Business Card, has measured the alley at 15' x 70', alley requires grading to make room for asphalt, his 12' paving machine may not fit well due to stone wall on one side of the alley, now price changes to $3,150, can not be done for less.I tell him that he might as well get into his truck because I can not pay that amount.After he leaves, my wife and I talk about this, that the asphalt must have been paid for in advance for 400 tons, just who can tell if that amount had been used, if so they are reselling the same material again and getting paid twice. Is this good ethical practices?My wife later calls [redacted] on his cell phone, he told her that due to no written estimate of $2,000, nothing could be done.Desired Settlement: Do the job for $2,000 as previously agreed upon, hand shake.
