Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2014/08/29) */ The work performed in was covered with a year installation warrantyI sent the original estimator to inspect the replacement work being done and he could not determine if all of the fascia board being re-attached was replaced by us in In addition, there is no drip edge on the current roof and water is going in behind the gutters causing deteriorationSome of the guttering on the house is full to the point of having large plant growth in it which is putting additional weight on the fasciaAlthough we were not given the opportunity to repair the original work, as a good faith effort I offered to pay for half of the contractor's repair billI think that was more than fair given that this is years past the expiration of our labor warrantyAt this point I am not willing to pay any of the current contractors charges Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 12, 2014/09/02) */ I would like to dispute the customers response as Edelen Windows & Doors was given an opportunity to offer repair options upon my initial phone call on Monday 8/25, but I was asked by the gentleman who answered the phoned what the concern was and then told that [redacted] handled the residential side of the business and a message had to be left for ***The following morning, 8/ [redacted] called me and I told him the issue and he said it may take a while to locate the paperwork and wanted to rush off the phone before offering anythingThe morning of 8/I called [redacted] around 10:because I had not heard anything yet and he proceeded to tell me in an unconcerned tone of voice, he had not found the paperwork yetIn my opinion the second opportunity he had to offer some assistanceQuite naturally, that is when I responded saying to him that he did not appear concerned at all and I understood that it is not urgent to him because the work was no longer under warranty and it is not his home falling down around him, but that he could at least have someone come out he had to take a look at the situationIt was only after I suggested he have someone come out did [redacted] offer to have someone come to look at the workmanshipPlease note I asked the contractor who did the repair to leave the 10ft facial board as is on the ground, and to leave the facia board with the attached gutters on the ground for the assessment [redacted] agreed to send ***, around noon that afternoon After [redacted] reviewed the situation, jay and I were in touch and [redacted] offered to pay 50% of the repair fees $However, since I put the complaint in with the Revdex.com [redacted] has not only retracted his initial offer but has chosen not to take any responsibilityPlease note there was a crew that put up the siding and a separate person who came behind the initial crew, that hung the gutters and the gutters have not fallen just the facia boarding that the gutters on the dormer are attached to and a separate 10ft of facia board that's was attached to the side of the house which has nothing attached to itBased on the expertise of the contractor who did the repair, too small finishing nails were used to hang the facia boards instead of at minimum 2/inch screwsOn the side of the dormer in which the facia board with the attached gutter detached from the house there was no rafter tail in place and there should have been and on the edge of the vinyl soffit closest to the house there was nothing in place for the inside edge to hook to it was just pushed in between a grooveFinally, there appears to be no explanation as to how 10ft of facia board just drops from the houseI suspect if it had been secured with the proper screws and/or nails it would not haveNow that total job cost a little more than $years ago Again, I believe my request to have total cost to rehang the facia board and gutter $630.00, as we'll as 50% of the cost to have someone come out and secure the detached construction and material is within reason because Edelen Windows & Doors had two opportunities on 8/& 8/to work with me toward a ethical business resolution, but chose to continue to put me off until I the effort/suggestion to have someone come out to take a look and when the did send someone I was told they do not recall ordering new wood for the facia board attached to the dormer, no comment was given regarding the finishing nails that were used and Jay proceeded to tell me about some maintenance I needed on the gutters on the other side of my house where there is not even a problemWhich in my opinion was unprofessional in my opinion uncalled for I will send pictures in a separate email Thank you in advance for your undivided and prompt attention to this matter [redacted] Sent from my iPad Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2014/09/02) */
I would like to dispute the customers response as Edelen Windows & Doors was given an opportunity to offer repair options upon my initial phone call on Monday 8/25, but I was asked by the gentleman who answered the phoned what the concern was and then told that [redacted] handled the residential side of the business and a message had to be left for [redacted]. The following morning, 8/26 [redacted] called me and I told him the issue and he said it may take a while to locate the paperwork and wanted to rush off the phone before offering anything. The morning of 8/27 I called [redacted] around 10:30 because I had not heard anything yet and he proceeded to tell me in an unconcerned tone of voice, he had not found the paperwork yet. In my opinion the second opportunity he had to offer some assistance. Quite naturally, that is when I responded saying to him that he did not appear concerned at all and I understood that it is not urgent to him because the work was no longer under warranty and it is not his home falling down around him, but that he could at least have someone come out he had to take a look at the situation. However, since I put the complaint in with the Revdex.com [redacted] has not only retracted his initial offer but has chosen not to take any responsibility. 11/14/2014 It has not been resolved. The proper size nails weren't used. I had to pay $150 to have the contractor to come out and tack it up because it could have damaged my neighbor's property or cars in my driveway. They offered 50% at first but then once they received the complaint they took the offer off the table. I want them to pay for the whole repair.
11/14/2014 I will accept their offer. They can mail the check to me.
Final Business Response /* (1000, 18, 2014/11/14) */
11/14/14 Called and left a message.
11/14/14 The work had been done way out of warranty. We have a one year installation warranty. The work that she had done. We cannot determine in our records if we replaced the wood. We could have replaced some of it. She had it repaired before we could get back to you or to look at it. We offered 50% she refused the offer and we said there was nothing else we can do for you. We would be willing to reimburse her 50% of the costs. Once we do this we do not want to wash our hands of this.
