Edgerton, Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: Annual service membership is not really annual. I spent several hundred dollars thinking I was "protected for a full year" then come to find out that the contract is just for the season. No one tells you this when you sign up. I entered into a contract in late July 2013 and called today May 2014 because my AC is not working I was told that my contract was up in April. I would have to pay for a service call even if I renewed my "seasonal" contract because my call was "logged in."Very misleadingDesired Settlement: Terms of the service contract should be clear to customers and no longer referred to as an "annual service contract."

Review: Edgerton Inc. was hired to maintain my home's HVAC systems for the past 5 plus years via multiple sequential annual service contracts. Last January my heat failed during the extreme sub zero weather. I called them to fix my heat so my home would not freeze. They sent a technician who permanently shut down my heating system and stated I needed a new boiler. He stated that the office would contact me shortly about installing a new system. My home and the heating system was only 8 years old. I called in another company for a second opinion and to hopefully get my heat back on before my home froze and pipes burst etc. The other company responded immediately. They inspected my heating system and did find that the [redacted] Series cast iron boiler had failed and was leaking from a hole in a section of the cast iron. The boiler and all of its components showed signs of extreme corrosion. The boiler water was tested and was found to have a PH of 4.3. Extremely corrosive. Edgerton failed to maintain the antifreeze in the heating system properly which allowed the PH level to get to such a corrosive level. The boiler's aquastat was also turned up to its maximum setting which caused an extremely dangerous operating condition and damage to my heating systems components. I have had to replace multiple components on the heating system over the past few years costing a ton of money which I paid them for. They would remove the antifreeze, save it. Replace the component that was destroyed by corrosion and then put the SAME bad antifreeze back into the heating system. I have all the service records and which state that they performed the work as I have described and set the operating control of the boiler to way above the max safe operating limit of the 180*F. Another representative from Edgerton did come over to my home and inspect the boiler and also stated I would need to replace the boiler and I would be charged for its replacement. Obviously I went with the other company.Desired Settlement: I have been in contact with Edegerton multiple times and they have been out to the home to inspect the old boiler and its components and the new system I had installed. I have spent over $35,000.00 so far and still need to spend another $40,000.00 to replace the remaining damaged components. They offered me $6000.00 settlement on a 75k plus loss. I simply would like them to have their insurance company notified and for their insurance company to review this matter.
