I'm a current tenant lease is not up until Jan 2017.
The expression "You get what you pay for" could not be more understated here.. I moved here because rent is cheap i'm a Veteran on a limited income.. Rent is $495 month, I moved in Jan 2016 paid first/last month rent $1k ($5 key deposit)... They don't prorate the 1st month, but I got a prorate on the second month.. Here is where I overlooked 2 red flags to start..I first viewed 2 apartments that were no where near showroom ready.. 1st place I visited [redacted]" I believe its called
by the YMCA off of Chapel Hill Road had Dead Roaches just laying on the counter more than a few... Obviously they were remodeling, b/c they had new carpet that hadn't been laid down... But the Dead Roaches next to an empty raid can (think bombing spray) so that let me know roaches were in the foundation, or from previous tenant.. 2nd place I visit off of Morehead Ave was very similar (not showroom ready) but it was cheap in my budge of $500-$505 look like an old hotel i'm thinking [redacted] similar structure Just a front window, where a lot of people hangout in front of their door.. I didn't see no roaches.. I declined... About a few weeks later a decent looking Duplex came available off Gunter Road... The outside fooled me...
No Central Air, from the looks of the A/C unit, it looked like it was there for at least 3-5yrs (perhaps being too generous).. This is the reason why i'm posting this on Yelp... My A.C. Unit went out Monday evening (it's been scorching hot all week in Durham 90-93 degree temperature, now imagine the heat inside of a wooden house w/ direct sunlight beaming.. I notified the Property Management on Tuesday at 1pm, the maintenance didnt come out to check til Thursday morning, but I called at 8:46am to give a reminder of my A/C outage. Imagine this was Winter or if you had kids or a older love one staying w/ you. Who wants to cook in a hot house.. The issue didn't get resolve until Friday todays date 8/26/2016... The people that brought me the A/C unit even said how hot it was in my house, "its hotter inside than it is outside".. So I waited 4 days to get my A/C unit resolved...
To make matters worse I once saw a Centipede come out my wall.. since I live in a duplex, and the house structure is wooden the bedroom walls are made of plaster, not bad looking you can tell the house is a lil older, but the appearance doesnt look bad... The Centipede was the size of my middle finger. That's a big [redacted] Centipede coming out your wall... I advised the office, they told me they can't exterminate for them, they can only plaster over the hole in your wall.. The hole is not that big, its a small hole, to be honest its more than 1 hole... The walls are wooden so if I wanted to be very very picky I can probably spot 5-10 holes... But i'm not that kind of guy Im just a vet wanting a decent place to live... I said to the office assistant well if your not going to exterminate you would have to plaster ever crack and crevice in the bedroom.... Wasn't worth it to me.. To be fair that was the last Centipede I saw, but very unpleasant to see something like that at 12:40am,
Thank God I was already up watching t.v. and had the lights on...
Again you get what you pay for...
P.S.. I did kill two roaches... have no ideal where they came from... I have no furniture in my duplex just an Air Mattress, my T.V..., Two baskets of clothes, some books to read, and my suits hanging up...
This wanted to give a detail and accurate experience of dealing w/ Edgewood properties. I never pay late always pay on time, even plan to play early today.. This review is not an attempt at character assignation of the company, just stating the Truth from my personal experience

Edgewood properties DOES NOT like to maintain it's rental properties. They wont fix anything regardless of how many times you call or complain. Roaches and bed bugs
