Review: Wood floors replaced, sanded and finished in areas of dining room, foyer, and hall were not done with quality work. Areas were not cleaned thoroughly of saw dust particles and debri, sanded areas noted to have swirl marks throughout, therefore when finish was applied particles noted to be under finish, causing bubbles, non smooth areas and swirls over entire floor. a water base finish was used instead of oil base to match the rest of the hard wood floors. Floors are showing visible scratch marks and indentations from normal wear very easily compared to rest of wood floors and are not matching with finish. I complained to the owner [redacted] Edinger multiple times and had 3 other witnesses notice the defects of the work provided on the wood flooring by Edingers Carpet & flooring business and or their sub contractors. The Owner [redacted] Edinger stated he saw some debri defects near foyer entrance but did not see any thing else wrong and denied there was any thing else wrong. [redacted] stated he would have the floor buffed and then apply a 3rd coat of finish which upon inspection by me [redacted] that evening a 3rd coat was not applied and the same defects were still present and not fixed. When contacting [redacted] Edinger at Edingers Carpet & flooring he stated there was nothing wrong with the floors and demanded the second payment check from my insurance company even before all the wood flooring work was fixed and insulation under crawl space was replaced. And I stated that I was not to give the second check until the work was complete. He again stated that his workers wanted to get paid and demanded the second check, Which I gave to Edingers Carpet & flooring the day the insulation under crawl space was replaced. At that time I was not satified with the work to my wood floors and made a complaint to my insurance company at which time the policy stated any complaints had to be dealt with by the owner and the contractor providing the work. At that time I called another flooring co. which agreed there was a problem.Desired Settlement: Would like the defects to be fixed and or a refund for the sanding and finishing of wood floors involved. A payment plan was arranged for the rest of the payments owed included a deductable agreed upon by Edingers Carpet & Flooring and me [redacted] for a total of 1092.84 which have not been paid until this matter can be resolved.

Response:

I, [redacted] Edinger, Owner of Edingers Carpet and flooring. Met with Customer [redacted] on1 10/28/13 to discuss installing new flooring in her home. On 11/13/13 she signed the contract agreeing to the work and payments we agreed upon, which was $11,380.00. Insurance to pay 10,282.92, and [redacted] pay balance of $1,092.84 in 3 payments of $364.28 starting 1/1/14. We got a deposit (Issued from her insurance company) on 11/13/14 in the amount of $6788.24. The hardwood installation was started on 11/18/13. We installed new unfinished hardwood in 75% of her dining room, and tied that in to the existing hardwood that was in the dining room, entrance, foyer and hall. We then sanded and finished it to match with 2 coats of oil based polyurethane finish (it was not water based as she had stated in her letter). On 11/20/13 the customer called and stated there was debris and hair stuck in hardwood finish. We went out to inspect the issue and found 1 hair, approx. >4 inch in length by foyer that could have come from the installer or her dog. It is unknown. While I was there inspecting, I took a video of the floor (which can be provided), to show how minor this complaint was. I assured the customer that this was not a big problem and this would be taken care of. On 11/22/13, we went back out to the customer's home, rescreened, vacuumed and recoated the entire floor with an additional coat of finish, not just that area she had an issue with. On 11/26/13, we installed the insulation and picked up the final insurance check from [redacted] in the amount of $3493.92. The job was then 100% complete and seamed everything was fine. We contacted [redacted] on 1/17/14 because she was more than 2 weeks late on making her first payment to us. It was then that she stated that she was dissatisfied with the work because of scratches on her wood, caused by her mid-sized black lab dog. We informed her that scratches are not warrantied on any wood or flooring products. We believe that the customer is using this complaint to try and get out of paying the balance, 1092.84. We demand payment from her upon Revdex.coms decision on this matter, and if we do not receive in a timely manner it will be turned over to the collection agency.
