The customer brought in a very rough used truck. We looked at the trucks service history and it has been road hard and put up wet, including coolant in the motor. We installed the customers 5th wheel hitch that attaches outside of the frame of...

the vehicle. The customer claims that we broke something inside the frame when we removed it to put the hitch on. #1 we did not remove or touch this part on his truck #2 we worked on the outside of the frame. If the customer had taken his truck to an Authorized for dealer it probably would have been covered under warranty. He claims the problem happened 2 miles from leaving here but did not contact us about the problem until a month later??? He just bought this truck used with many miles. The easiest thing to do is take the vehicle and have someone fix it and blame the last person that touched the truck. If he would have checked the vin# and the history on the truck he probably would not have bought it. We requested that the customer send the part to us because he moved 600 miles away and he failed to do that.
1. we did not do this, the worked preformed was outside of the frame
2.customer claims we broke the piece when we removed it to put the hitch on, WE DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THIS PIECE TO PUT THE HITCH ON
3. Claims problem started 2 miles down the road, CUSTOMER DID NOT BLAIM US UNIT A MONTH LATER!!!
4. Customer never sent us part to look at he claims we broke
5. Customer bought a rough truck with a very rough history
6.Customer did not go to an Authorized Ford Dealer for repair that could have easily brought up with history of the truck and would have known we had nothing to do with this part breaking
7.I was overbooked this day and bent over backwards to help him out.
8.Ford knows it had a problem with these and has corrected the part breaking on newer model trucks.

Mr. [redacted] either isn't familiar with the work done or that particular model. The work done requires a bolt through the frame, the head of the bolt on the outside, the nut on the inside. Installing this on this model truck requires either lifting the truck bed or dropping the DEF tank. Regardless, placing the nut on the bolt would have required working near where the part became damaged causing our problem. We did address the problem immediately. Infact, when the light came on indicating a problem we drove straight to Auto zone to have the OBD code reader print out show us what was wrong. At this point we went back on the dealer who sold us the truck, who proved it was not their issue as they had a print out of the 32 point inspection with a clear ODB scan. The ealier problems with this truck were only that it blew an EGR valve, pretty common with F350 deisels, so Mr. [redacted]'s layiong it on pretty thick . He never asked us to mail the part. We sent him pics when he asked if we had it though. We were headed for 10 days of work in KC, MO and then on to work at a church in OH where we needed the truck and couldn't be without it until we got it into the best deisel shop around according to the locals. The reputable Ford dealership who has the truck now has verified all of our info and claims. Me hold Edmond PickUp responsible for the damage to our $33,000 truck we had only had for 2 hours.
