Ed's Auto & Tire Center Reviews (1)

October 11, 2017Dear Representative of the Revdex.com,This letter is in response to complaint #[redacted].I am the mechanic who performed said repairs on the vehicle in question. I am also one of the shop foremen who write estimates and sell them to customers. The used fuel tank and...

existing used fuel pump were installed properly and with great care, I spent more than 30 minutes cleaning surface rust from the customer supplied tank and undercoating the tank to prevent future corrosion.Prior to the job being even started it was explained, over the phone, that the intake gaskets were leaking very badly and could cause head gasket or engine damage in the very near future. Customer stated she wanted the fuel lines only replaced for now. After installation the car ran ok. Customer came to pick up vehicle,Ed's Auto & Tire has yet to see this vehicle again. When the customer returned to file a complaint here she was in a different vehicle. The bill that was given to me by the other shop in NJ stated the fuel pump was replaced. When replacing the fuel pump on this particular vehicle you need to remove the fuel tank. When removing the fuel tank the lines are removed at the tank. The bill also stated that after replacing the fuel pump the other shop diagnosed that the lines were crossed. If this is the fact, then the lines were installed improperly after the fuel pump was replaced. The fact is if the fuel pump lines wers crossed at the tank, the vapor canister would have filled with gas and would spill all over the ground in less than 5 minutes. Also the vehicle would most likely not even operate. I have never installed fuel lines incorrectly and have replaced multiple fuel pumps. There are only 3 lines on the tank: Fuel high pressure, Fuel return pressure and Evaporative line (fuel vapors).I know for a fact the intake gaskets on this vehicle were leaking very badly. It is a very common occurrence on this vehicle We have repaired many intake gaskets on this particular engine. Considering Ed's Auto never saw the vehicle after the initial repair I am not going to speculate on what further repairs were need or performed.I feel no refund or credit is deserved because the work that was paid for was performed. If an existing part fails, that is on the vehicle owner for not replacing a recommended or existing part. Any used electrical part has no warranty in general. I handed the customer her paperwork back and did state for her to have a nice day.Regretfully the owner Ed K. has some personal issues and is not available at this time. I will be handling this complaint if any further correspondence is needed.Brad O
