Vehicle was brought in for a new convertible top -outer layer onlyWork was completed and customers came in to pick up vehicle We opened and closed the top numerous times to demonstrate the top was in working orderCustomers left satisfied to our knowledgeThree weeks later recieved a call from
the Geico rep stating the top was not working properly Had representative contact owners so the vehicle could be brought in to check for any problems with the top Customers brought vehicle in about a month laterI asked customer to explain what had happened ,customer stated while he was closing top it stopped halfway while closing so he had to close it manuallyI went through vehicle to see if I could find anything wrong with the mechanism I didn't find anything so I called a colleague *** owner of Autohouse of Clovis He advised me to bring the vehicle in so he could diagnose it Spoke to customer that afternoon stating I couldnt find anything wrong with the top and that I had taken it to Autohouse to be diagnosed and they became upset with the fact that it went to another shop to be diagnosed and they didnt have the money to pay for that I told them not to worry about the price of the diagnosis as I would figure that out with ***I gave them the name and address of Authouse Next morning *** called and said I needed to come by so I could remove the front half of the convertible top *** found that a microswitch has went bad as it is a year old vehicle Mr *** went by and spoke to *** personally and was told what the problem was and what is was going to cost for the parts to get the top to function properlyRepresentative from Geico contacted me and asked the status of the vehicle I explained to him the situationHe personally went to Autohouse to speak to *** about vehicle He contacted me again stating that it was a mechanical failure and had nothing to do with my installation of the top and he was going to write a letter to the customers stating it was a mechanical failure Mr *** instructed *** to just put the top back together as they were unable to have the repairs done at this time I went to put convertible top back together and brought back to my shopThe customers were aware the top was not going to function under power only manually before I brought it back to my shopCustomers came next day to pick up vehicle my manager advised them to look over their vehicle to check for any scratches or dents to their vehicle as we do to every customer to make sure there are no problems at a later time Mrs *** became angry and stated why should she have to inspect her vehicle for My manager told her so that way there is not any problems later on and she got in her vehicle and they left
