The shoes that I wish to exchange fall under every request the seller has specified in his return policy. On Valentine's Day, I received a pair of Women's Stegmann Polyurethane Wool Clogs, size 9, in Ocean Blue, as a gift from my son in Virginia. (Apparently, this young man purchased them back in December, when he had enough money saved up, as he is on a tight budget.) As soon as I opened the package, I realized that the blue was too bright, and I tried to contact the place of purchase. There was ABSOLUTELY NO PHONE NUMBER OR EMAIL ADDRESS ON THE PAPERWORK. All it said was that I should return the shoes to an address in Northboro, MA. Because I had received no response from the seller, I was hesitant to send the shoes to that address, so I personally went to Hudson Street to try to exchange the shoes myself. I was told that the owner was rarely there, and the place looked abandoned. I then wrote letters and mailed them to every address I could find, and it took me a long time to communicate with the business. Finally, he emailed back, saying my phone number had been cut off in a recording and he was unable to return my call. This is what his return policy is, and I quote, in poor English grammar, "If you need to return for a different size, color, or any reason, or a refund. I will only accept products that are in new condition with all original tags still attached and all original packaging. Shoes, must be only tried on for fit, and shoes that show excessive wear will not be accepted. I do not refund shipping costs, for exchanges the buyer pays shipping back to me, I do not charge to ship to any exchanges. All Returns that meet these guidelines should be shipped to [redacted], [redacted]., Northboro, MA XXXXX". He says this is beyond his 30 day return policy, but he says NOTHING about HIS 30 DAY REFUND POLICY in this paperwork. Since I did not purchase the shoes personally, I knew nothing of this policy. Secondly, he made it nearly impossible to communicate with him. Thirdly, the shoes are brand new in the perfect box with all tags still attached to the wool uppers. They are UNWORN, UNUSED, and UNSCUFFED. I will pay for return postage. They are simply the wrong color and I feel that he is being difficult for no reason. I have been in retail for many years and this is just ridiculously unacceptable. Is there anything that you can do to help me? I have been polite, reasonable, and offered to pay postage, but he is doing nothing, and will not even reply to my emails now. He really has nothing to lose.
