Review: Tile order for #** porcelain basketweave was placed on 9-**-13 through contractor [redacted] based on quote provided to me on 8/**/13. I personally paid for the order by check, as requested, in the store with the owner, [redacted], handling the transaction in her daughter's absence. She did not want a credit card. At the time I explained that I did not need the tile until sometime in October or later. [redacted] said the store will call the contractor to pick up the tile. It was understood that the contractor would confirm delivery or pick up. When contractor called to arrange for receipt of tile order, during week of November *, his assistant was told that the tile had been picked up already by the contractor. However, and unfortunately, the contractor never arranged for or never picked up the tile. [redacted]'s daughter, store manager, said they released the tile to the contractor but did not have a signature or any other verification of the pick up. She said they have been in business for 25 years and there has never been a problem; contractors come in and announce name of customer and the order is released without any other proof required. Daughter said contractor is lying and he or his worker picked up the tile. Contractor contests this. Manager/daughter said there is no way for her to check further and that if someone did pick up the order in error, it would have been returned. The bottom line is that I do not have possession of the tile and the store claims to have no further responsibility. I have checked with several other retail establishments, all of which agree that an order should be signed for and proof of pick up should be presented before it is released.Desired Settlement: I have had to scurry around and find other tile to replace this order since the work has to be done the week of November **. I believe I am entitled to a full refund.
